People are meeting at College Green (just down the way from Parliament Square) this evening at 5:30 (and on I guess)

Saturday 31st there is a protest outside Downing street at 12pm. See photo.

I'll add any more that I see. Feel free to do the same.

Exactly. Our demo was small but good-natured, with people of all ages including a fair few children. What those angry men hoped to achieve by shouting at us from their car windows, I don't know. I'm glad I was there to help make up the numbers.

As expected prettybird bbc's plummeting viewing figures are no accident.

And......Belfast, Kendall and Roscoff in France. Smile

woman19 · 31/08/2019 13:15

Well done dogsegg Smile

Checking in from an intermittently damp Southport protest.

Taking a lunch break from the London protest. Good to meet up with people :)

A noisy dense crowd, especially around Downing Street.

Back from our little local gathering
where the speaker who tried to tell us that Corbyn was the solution was drowned out by "Stop the Coup" chants

Non party speakers were applauded by the whole crowd

Very cheery and made me feel a bit less pessimistic.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2019 14:59

We only had about 50 at ours. But not bad given the notice period and the diabolical weather today!

We had the Green, LD and Labour candidates for our town plus the Labour MP for Sefton whose name escapes me.

I also discovered that our shit Tory MP is now on Gove's team. Marvellous.

Hazardtired · 31/08/2019 15:08

Well done all ❤

Brum march in it's thousands.

chomalungma · 31/08/2019 15:21

Loads on ours today. It was great to hear so many speakers and to be part of something big.

I can see also how crowds can get stirred up and the feelings people get when they are part of crowd.

chomalungma · 31/08/2019 15:36

Love the Daily Mail...

A rabble of Corbyn backed protestors!!!!

Great pictures though. Apparently all the people on the march need to have their benefits stopped as the top comments.

BentBastard · 31/08/2019 15:39

Are you still there @OhYouBadBadKitten ?

woman19 · 31/08/2019 15:41

Great to see good sized Clitheroe, Lancs protest too. Smile

sovielverloren · 31/08/2019 15:58

I am back having joined OhYouBadBadKitten's group and lovely it was to meet you all! Looking on Twitter on the train home, it looks like there was a whole chunk of crowd we weren't aware of the other end of Whitehall!
Did anyone see the v large group of youths on bikes heading over Westminster Bridge towards Parliament Sq at about 1.45pm or know what that was about?

Peregrina · 31/08/2019 16:36

all making the point that this is not about Leave or Remain and the crowd is made up of people from both sides

Same in Oxford too. One of the most effective speakers was the man who used to be the Tory Agent for the Bracknell constituency and had given 20 years service to the party, who was appalled and wants to get the current Government out.

Protest in little old Leek, hey bellini? Very much a Leave central place having been hit hard over the years by the textile industry migration to S E Asia.

I am back having joined OhYouBadBadKitten's group
Many thanks. Flowers
Hope everyone's returning for tea and biscuits now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/08/2019 16:45

I'm still at the protest in London. We've taken a nice tour around the streets having little sit downs on the road when we get tired.

Back from Newcastle - cracking turnout! Not seen any news yet, just off to look, but must have been a few thousand.

Toooldtobearsed2 · 31/08/2019 17:13

Over 2000 apparantly.

Peregrina · 31/08/2019 17:19

Looks like the same sort of number we had in Oxford - so maybe 150,000 in total in protests around the country?

For a protest organised at the last moment, when many people already had other commitments they couldn't get out of, that is seriously impressive.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 31/08/2019 17:27

BBC Radio 4 news playing down the number of demonstrators in London. But did mention that the gathering had made its way to Buckingham Palace.

I was in London but left at about 2.30.
