People are meeting at College Green (just down the way from Parliament Square) this evening at 5:30 (and on I guess)

Saturday 31st there is a protest outside Downing street at 12pm. See photo.

I'll add any more that I see. Feel free to do the same.

I’m solo parenting today with a 6m and 3 yo. I’ve not been on a march since teens - will it be safe / doable with a buggy and a baby? (London).

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2019 09:07

I'm going to the Southport one this afternoon. It was only confirmed late last night.

Peregrina · 31/08/2019 09:18

Previous marchers and demos have had small children and buggies and it all seems to have been perfectly safe and doable. You can always nip into a cafe if it gets too much.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/08/2019 09:27

Absolutely Since and well done!!! You are doing this for the future of your family.

Since I am going to the London one with my two young dds. The people’s vote marches have felt very safe with a lovely atmosphere so hopefully this will be the same. My dds are currently colouring in banners!

Since2016 · 31/08/2019 10:26

We don’t have banners - although I may have a flag. I feel like I want them to know I tried! Best tube station on Piccadilly line to walk from anyone?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/08/2019 10:33

Green Park or Leicester Square are pretty equal.

Looking great in Newcastle, St Albans, Exeter, Oxford and Downing St. Well done everyone. Smile

woman19 · 31/08/2019 11:43

And Cheltenham, Bolton, Lewes and good lord, Berkhamsted! This is reaching strange parts........Grin

PostNotInHaste · 31/08/2019 11:56

Speakers in Bournemouth all making the point that this is not about Leave or Remain and the crowd is made up of people from both sides.

Think they said protesta will be running here every Saturday until this is over.

MsMarvellous · 31/08/2019 12:03

Same here @PostNotInHaste Lots of comments about how this is going beyond the brexit debate. Numbers are growing here all the time

woman19 · 31/08/2019 12:03

Fantastic post thank you for that. Very positive.

all making the point that this is not about Leave or Remain and the crowd is made up of people from both sides

👆👆Also stressed in St Albans that this wasn’t about how people voted, it was about the totally unacceptable events now taking place.

Apileofballyhoo · 31/08/2019 12:24

London is on BBC News now.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2019 12:28

I think it's important to understand that not every leaver is a meat head no dealer and glad that point is being made, and that people from both 'sides' of the vote are attending.

Voters are not an homogeneous bunch, on either side. There'll be some unreasonable remainers (I voted remain but just want it over so let's no deal!) as much as there are reasonable leavers, who most certainly didn't vote for this omnishambles!

dogseggs · 31/08/2019 12:46

I just got back from a stop the coup demo in my town. I'm in a predominantly Leave voting area so it was heartening to get so many cheers and beeps from cars, lorries, taxis and vans passing by. The hatred in the faces of a handful of Leave supporters shouting abuse at us though... I must admit I was properly shaken. It was very different to the London marches I've been on. There, I felt we had safety in numbers. Here I felt properly intimidated.

TheElementsSong · 31/08/2019 12:51

‘Twas veh veh crowded at the Leeds protest despite the drizzle. Had to leave (weaving through the crowd with difficulty) after about an hour because the DC needed the loo 🙄

It's brilliant to see such a great turn out in towns and cities around the country. Good luck to all of you!

bellinisurge · 31/08/2019 12:56

Just visited Leek and saw a little demonstration- I gave them a cheery thumbs up . It was brilliant to see that they were mostly baby boomers and seniors. Showing that not that entire generation have dumped this shit on us. There was a Brexit Party stand in the town manned by a single 40 something.

woman19 · 31/08/2019 13:01

Not very nice, dogsegg which is why we persist. Smile
Brilliant bellini Great elements. Smile

Wonders will never cease: BBC is reporting it.

BBC1 1pm news had Mark Easton saying, "There are thousands here in London but not the millions that were here before. And just as significant are those that aren't marching as they support what's going on" Hmm

I'm paraphrasing what dh told me as I got in from hanging the washing out a few minutes after 1pm and he'd already turned back to Sky News in disgust. But they're just covering what's happening in Hong Kong (almost uninterrupted for the last 45 minutes).
