It seems inconceivable that Hunt can beat Johnson. And whilst we are all considering the horrors that Prime Johnson can bring...

Let's not forget Brexit, whats Brexit?

Already there is talk that Boris has gone soft on 31st Oct as an absolute. But he's also promised the earth to the ERG.

So what suits Boris best?

What does his ego demand?

What does Boris want his legacy to be?

Our fate rests on Boris's whims and personal desires.

And if you are Scottish, Muslim or otherwise not rich, white and male you might have reason to be concerned.

Cameron risked the nation's future on a referendum, which he called for entirely party political reasons

Doesn't matter that he was arrogant enough to think he would win

Even after the ref, there was a very narrow politicl window of 1-2 weeks when he could have stopped this clusterfuck:

He was the only person who could have got away with either saying the referendum was too close / flawed for such a major change,
or we would go for Norway++

BUT he ran away because he was too cowardly to fix the mess he made

May handling the mess incompetently, just doesn't come anywhere near his level of reckless irresponsibility that caused this whole mess

She initially believed she could get a much better deal,
which is no worse than Cameron thinking he could win a referendum he called after years of austerity

DadDadDad · 21/06/2019 21:42

If she’d been more collaborative and acknowledged how close the vote was from the beginning we would not be in the mess we are now.

I pretty much agree with that. And certainly once she had the result of the 2017 GE, she should have realised that the only way forward with such a massive decision was to get some sort of cross-party parliamentary committee to decide on a way forward and then gone to Brussels.

I didn't want Brexit but what really annoys me is that the Tory party have been allowed to dictate what kind of Brexit we get.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/06/2019 21:47

and Cameron refused to let the Civil Service even make contingency plans for leave winning,

so May started off knowing nothing, with the civil service unable to give her sufficiently evidenced briefings,
without the scoping and impact assessments Cameron should have left his successor at a minimum.

The ERG refused to wait for the civil service to do this work, so she let herself be pushed into invoking

  • but if she hadn't she'd soon have been toppled
Once Cameron ran away, they smelt blood in the water
Bearbehind · 21/06/2019 21:47

She initially believed she could get a much better deal, which is no worse than Cameron thinking he could win a referendum he called after years of austerity

That is absolute bollocks.

Cameron’s and previous austerity had nothing to do with the EU

It wasn’t unreasonable to think that people had the sense to make that distinction.

If the referendum had actually been about the subject at hand, Leave wouldn’t have won as not enough people cared enough about the EU.

TM knew what the EU’s rules were so she knew what deals were possible.

She knew from day 1 what she was doing and literally made the wrong decision at every single junction.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/06/2019 21:48

She could have handled it much better, but she didn't cause this clusterfuck
Cameron did
100% for part politics

RedToothBrush · 21/06/2019 21:49

I don't think there is any missing this story.

Its also on the BBC home page too.

Is that Sara Pascoe ? Hmm

Bearbehind · 21/06/2019 21:52

She could have handled it much better, but she didn't cause this clusterfuck Cameron did

That argument simply makes no sense.

Should we blame Camerons mother for having him?

The blame lies with those who promised the sunlit uplands and those who voted for this and with TM who promised them the impossible.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/06/2019 21:52

Ivan Richards last speech talked of her ignorance

Her experience as Home Sec getting a deal by opting out then opting in
which doesn't work for trade

WHY do people want to let off the smarmy toff who caused this bloody Brexshit ?

It is HIS fucking fault

Whatever happened after the ref, the country would be bitterly divided
HE caused that

Cameron called the referendum to appease...the erg.

Teresa May took a lunatic hard line to appease....the erg.

See a link?

Until the govt, opposition and PMs stop trying to appease these 70 or so disaster capitalists then there is no hope.

RedToothBrush · 21/06/2019 21:55

Tom Newton Dunn @tnewtondunn
We’ve had some bat shit crazy weeks in British politics of late, but this one really has now topped the lot. I’m going for a drink 🙄

They get equal blame in my book bcf

Both pandering to the same loony fringe.

DGRossetti · 21/06/2019 21:56

I'm wondering when Stamper will make an entrance ...

BigChocFrenzy · 21/06/2019 21:56

None of these delusions would have had any power if Cameron hadn't called the referendum

Everything comes from that

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2019 21:56

Whose dinner did Bozo shit in? The tide's turned before he has even been voted in as leader.

I'm not entirely convinced he's set it up himself. 🤔

thethethethethe · 21/06/2019 21:57

I wonder whether those headlines will make him more or less popular.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/06/2019 21:57

red Do you think your thread title might be overtaken by events ? Grin

BJ is making it very clear the doesn’t want to be PM.

He missed the first debate, was shite in the second one and has allegedly declined the next one.

He is all bluster and no substance.

He knows damn well he can’t become PM and deliver Brexit so he needs an emergency sick note.

If this incident doesn’t work there will be more attempts.

Just look at what happened with him and Gove in the last race for PM.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/06/2019 22:00

By my count, the HoC majority - incl DUP - is now only 3, after the Chris Davis recall

Is that correct?

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2019 22:01

A debate with only 50% of the candidates isn't going to be very informative. Might as well just call it An Evening with Jeremy Cunt Hunt.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2019 22:02

Did you include Mark Field's suspension, BCF?

RedToothBrush · 21/06/2019 22:03

Do you think your thread title might be overtaken by events ?

You say that, but I'm just going to say
"grab her by the pussy"
didn't exactly land the killer blow.

I'm expecting this to go the same way tbh.

Those voting for the Tory leadership, don't much like women. A bit of a domestic? Pah, she deserved it, its about time we put uppity women in their place like we used to be able to.

DM comments still saying it's a Remainer smear Grin
(well, he could have had Brexity neighbours who just put the earplugs in)

it looks like Boris pressed the red ejector button

I don't know if it's deliberate, or if he is so lacking in impulse control that any close scrutiny of him would always be fatal
