Westminstenders: 1001 Ways to wait for EUCO - Sprouts, Nits and Brexit

Not much more to say other than, all we can do is wait to hear our fate.

Which seems to lie in the hands of Macron.

I think these tweet sums a lot of it up from a couple of jaded soft leavers

Iain Martin @ iainmartin1
This terrible farce in Brussels tonight is like being British during the eurovision song contest. British entrant awaits fate, watching humiliating results come in, trying to smile for the audience back home.

George Trefgarne @georgetrefgarne
To be honest I think Buck’s Fizz and Cheryl thingummy would have made a better job of it

My advice: Don't wait up!

Pippa Crerar @pippacrerar
EU source on Macron: "He is in a bit of a schizophrenic situation - (his) domestic audience demands that he is tough on Britain for historic reasons. On the other hand, France is among the most-hit in any no-deal Brexit. It will take hours before we pull him down from his tree."

So Macron may end up being the one who gets the UK what it wants but is doing it to be tough on us. I'm not sure I understand EU politics.

Wimbles in and does happy little dance
my easter holiday is booked (flights, car and villa)
all four of us are off to the Med next week
I am so happy.
easter holiday is when DH is whacked after Science week and when I am spinning up for public sector year end so essential for our heads

DH wants me to take a break from these threads as he sees that they make me angry well actually Brexit makes me angry

but I could utterly hug Donald Tusk for saving the spring and summer of every British family.

May 2nd is my speciality .... I'll keep y'all posted

happy dance

FWIW I love the side chats too, they're often just as informative as the brexit info

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 11/04/2019 21:21

ohlook Grin

DGRossetti · 11/04/2019 21:22

For all the misogyny, PreRaphaelites (along with Ruskin) were massive champions of education, supporting women artists, and giving free lectures for working mens clubs.

And then there's the entire Wm Morris arts & crafts movement ...

Now I think, the PRB would have been instinctively "European" and remainers. Even if (one of their idols) Tennyson seems the archetypal Leaver.

Must be time for more fine wines ! Grin

prettybird · 11/04/2019 21:22

I think what if anything happens on 23 June may depend on what happens on 23 May Hmm

TalkinPaece · 11/04/2019 21:29

pretty
on the BBC early this morning was a cracking timeline with all the trip hazards
and there are PLENTY
so I'll watch 2nd May
and then hold out for 23rd May
and then 23rd June
and then watch for can kicking over the summer
and then the shit will hit the fan during Party conference season
we shall see

prettybird · 11/04/2019 21:36

SNP Spring Conference is 27 and 28 April. Nicola is a canny operator but it is going to be interesting to see how long she can resist calls for a formal Section 30 request if indeed she wants to Hmm

Loletta · 11/04/2019 21:39

I love the side chats! I only wish I had a cat but unfortunately I'm extremely allergic to them! Photos are OK Grin

tobee · 11/04/2019 21:44

Roger Rees in RSC Nicholas Nickleby by far for me.

Followed by David Lean's Oliver Twist and Great Expectations

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 11/04/2019 21:44

May Morris (William's daughter) is a fascinating character, DGR...as is Janey, really.

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/04/2019 21:47

I also got the invitation to be a TIGger in the EU.

The application asks for all the usernames you have ever used on social media Shock.

I'm so hoping AnyFucker decides to stand.

tobee · 11/04/2019 21:49

Yeah no ones asking me to stand for the Tiggers. Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 11/04/2019 21:50

The application asks for all the usernames you have ever used on social media

That's what put me off in the end as I just can't remember my names on various non-league football fora circa 2002!

Iambuffy · 11/04/2019 21:50

William Morris was a throughly good egg.

Muppet Xmas carol is the best adaptation obv, but I’m rather fond of the David lean classic adaptation of great expectations with John mills.

I’m rewatching buffy the vampire Slayer in an attempt to relive sent youth. I can’t see it being Teresa’s cup of tea tbh.

I see her as more of a cranford fan (sniffs disapprovingly)

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 11/04/2019 21:51

For

Brexit stuff
Cheese from Booths (anything from Booths)
Menopause

Against
Literature

So excited for people getting asked to be a TIGger.

Iambuffy · 11/04/2019 21:51

Have a great holiday tip

Runningintothesunset · 11/04/2019 21:56

I got a Tigger invite too, I already have a Tigger (from Winnie the Pooh) mug as my coffee cup at work, so I feel I’m halfway to selection already Grin

Unfortunately for us, it wouldn’t work for our family life, but huge good luck to anyone who can make it work. I’d love to be able to vote for one.

TalkinPaece · 11/04/2019 21:58

Fluffy
Social Media for me is easy

  • my real name
  • multiple variants of TalkinPeace --pretty much anywhere you see that name, it me)
covers me for the last 18 years Grin
borntobequiet · 11/04/2019 22:02

Bore any political party might be impressed by your crystal ball, do you still have it?

colouringinpro · 11/04/2019 22:04

Pmk

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/04/2019 22:11

born

MysticBore™️ does indeed still have the 🔮

It does not pronounce on Brexity matters though.

DadDadDad · 11/04/2019 22:12

That would be fun, putting a cross next to candidate's name which beneath it said "also known as BoreOfWhabylon". Grin

Bore - if that crystal ball of yours makes accurate Brexit predictions, you deserve to be Prime Minister! Star

DadDadDad · 11/04/2019 22:13

cross-post - you knew the point I was going to make even before I posted it! Shock

dreichuplands · 11/04/2019 22:14

Yes hester didn't want to repost it if you had covered it.
I thought Trump rather neatly highlighted the advantages of being part of the EU.
Given America First is his slogan I rather hope that people might wonder if he really has our best interests at heart.

borntobequiet · 11/04/2019 22:15

Oh
A magic spell perhaps?
