Westminstenders: Arse about Face

Everything about Brexit seems to have been done wrongly.

Setting red lines to rule out a compromise

The attempt to use executive power to trigger A50, that resulted in a court case

Triggering A50 before knowing what the UK wanted

Agreeing to the backstop before any Tory MP understood the GFA

Appointing a Brexit minister before checking he understood where Dover was.

May going on about NI and pissing off the DUP before they were just about to climb down.

Having a Meaningless Vote repeatedly with a gun to head.

Contempt of Parliament and just general fucking up.

Tonight, 3 days before we were due to leave the HoC finally sat down to decide what Brexit outcomes they thought would be a good idea - more than 2years after that should have happened.

And we now we are told the meaningful vote might be may even more meaningless by being wrapped up in the illusive Withdrawal Agreement Implimentation Bill.

Farce doesn't even cover it.

Anyway Indicative Vote results incoming in approx 15 mins.

wherearemychickens · 27/03/2019 21:27

Honestly, what has my life come to that I'm sat watching a clock.

AutumnCrow · 27/03/2019 21:27

It's a beautiful British clock, as Pub Landlord might say. Telling the beautiful British time.

BercowsSilkTie · 27/03/2019 21:27

Thanks MaudBaileysGreenTurban Smile

Am flirting between this thread, the news and my book so not helping my confusion really!

prettybird · 27/03/2019 21:27

Still have a horrible suspicion that all that is going to happen us that we're now going to crash out on 12 April.

MPs will refuse to vote for Joanna Cherry's "Backstop" Revoke Motion (even with Grieve's support), but they won't have the backbone to put in the necessary legislation for the EP elections Sad

(meant to say that the picture of the boys was from 2 years ago today: at the time we were still trying to decide on new names they'd been called Merry and Pippin by their previous owner : we eventually came up with Frasier and Niles, which really suits them as one is bigger and a bit of a bruiser, while the other is smaller and more needy Wink)

Violetparis · 27/03/2019 21:29

Do you think Mogg and Boris will do another u turn now that the DUP have said they won't support the deal ?

CordeliaEarhart · 27/03/2019 21:29

DUP will support the WA when the backstop is removed or when it covers the whole of the UK. I honestly can't see any amount of money tempting them to change. I suspect that is why some tories have been so surprised - they think everyone has a price.

AutumnCrow · 27/03/2019 21:30

icannotremember I hope you're all right.

Notflyingfree · 27/03/2019 21:30

Thanks to all posters for these threads. Watching the clock here (literally). The hold music is not relaxing.

dontcallmelen · 27/03/2019 21:30

pretty I think the same, wouldn’t be least bit surprised if we crashed out on the 12th.

SwedishEdith · 27/03/2019 21:31

Interesting point:

Sunder Katwala

105 votes against cancelling Brexit this Friday seems quite low, in that it was a free protest vote for No Deal, that would not have got Brexit on Friday?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/03/2019 21:31

105 votes to not extend says to me there's no way for MV3 to pass.

dontcallmelen · 27/03/2019 21:31

Yy cannot hope you are ok💐

ClashCityRocker · 27/03/2019 21:31

Me too 😔

WhatWouldScoobyDoo · 27/03/2019 21:32

PMK

Flowers or maybe Cake for your DS, red

Just double checking what happened at the battle of Thermopylae, to see if the result has changed since 480 BC.

..... literally PMSL Blush

But now really angry. When will they grow up and realise it’s not a fucking game? (I know, they won’t Angry )

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/03/2019 21:32

Wish they'd hurry up, I've a long day tomorrow and need my bed.

borntobequiet · 27/03/2019 21:32

Ah well. Petition now over 5 900 000.

lonelyplanetmum · 27/03/2019 21:33

So it's taken so long because:

  1. Indicative Votes are so close they need triple counting and checking?

2.TM has said we need more time to prepare our responses?

Etino · 27/03/2019 21:34

Where are y’all watching it?
Although they read an email on PM and seemed to have unearthed a massive generalised anxiety induced by Brexit uncertainty in the nation. I’m certainly feeling very down.

AutumnCrow · 27/03/2019 21:35

I switched to channel 231 - the rolling BBC news one.

SusanWalker · 27/03/2019 21:35

I swear by steam for snotty, phlegmy children. Loosens everything up, especially if they've got thick, sticky phlegm stuck in their chest.

OublietteBravo · 27/03/2019 21:36

It's a beautiful British clock, as Pub Landlord might say. Telling the beautiful British time.

Trivia fact to while away the time: Al Murray and Thomas Erskine May attended the same school.

borntobequiet · 27/03/2019 21:36

The music sounds like some sort of Middle England detective series. Pan in to a corpse in a flowery dress/red trousers/flat cap. Then shocked neighbours gathering in groups with shocked expressions.

borntobequiet · 27/03/2019 21:37

Sorry shocked twice, bad form, appalled expressions.

Home77 · 27/03/2019 21:37

I'm watching the updates here on the bbc
