Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

Nicky Morgan makes me think of the kind of putative Tory who, as a schoolgirl, always did her homework on time, worked hard and was neat, was polite to the teachers, gave them an apple, was a good and polite teenager, never rebelling and did what she was told. And couldn't understand why no one liked her. So became a Tory to get her own back.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 19:45

@Bercowssilktie, I went to Tesco after my first post-op physio at the hospital (which was more a chat and an arm wiggle than physio!) and have 2 finger Kit Kats, mini Chunky Kit Kats and a pack of peanut butter Chunky Kit Kats. Do you have a preference?!

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 19:46

Adam Bienkov @ adambienkov
Steve Baker told the ERG meeting that he would like to bulldoze parliament and is considering resigning the Conservative whip.

Why are they twatting about re: the SI...

Surely all these questions are just a big effing waste of time and energy.

Flowerplower · 27/03/2019 19:47

I love Jess Phillips too - she's sincere and wears her heart on her sleeve. She clearly just wants to do what she feels is right and cares about her constituents and the country. Watching that interview it was striking how much she and Anna Soubry were in agreement considering just weeks ago they'd been in opposition. Nicky Morgan just seemed way outclassed and outgunned by both of them.

tobee · 27/03/2019 19:47

There's a thread going at the moment asking about which chocolate you share NoWord. There are a lot of indignant answers Grin

PostNotInHaste · 27/03/2019 19:48

I agree RTB looking at that. Tomlinson either gone quiet or caved though, wonder which.

Littlespaces · 27/03/2019 19:48

Any idea how many Labour votes would be needed?

Runningintothesunset · 27/03/2019 19:49

This kind of ridiculous pontificating is what puts people off politics. How is there any discussion around this SI?

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 19:49

Nicky Morgan is another oddball.
The tories attract them.

BercowsSilkTie · 27/03/2019 19:50

@NoWordForFluffy I've not tried the peanut butter ones but am happy with any to be honest! I have a good peruse if the chocolate biscuits in Asda today and saw all sorts that I wanted. Have to wait for pay day as need to get mum's present tomorrow. And had to give her money to give to the children to buy mine Grin

We are all about to have story time and an early night. Although I might stay awake for the votes. Not sure if there's any point though!

SusanWalker · 27/03/2019 19:52

Amber Rudd was an extra in four weddings and a funeral and helped out finding lots of extras with their own dinner jackets and things as it was filmed on such a tight budget.

Surely Steve Baker's just describing himself there. But then he doesn't seem a man with much self awareness.

Nicky Morgan has either been somehow nobbled or has been replaced by some sort of Stepford Conservative Wife Confused

Having at times, a few weeks ago, been starting to talk some common sense Conservatives weren't trusted and the mood of the country, she now seems to have been re-booted Sad

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 27/03/2019 19:52

I tuned out for a a bit. WTF was Angela Eagle on about?

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 19:53

Christopher Hope @christopherhope
^Huge fireworks at the meeting of the European Research Group of Tory MPs.
Steve Baker told the meeting: "I am consumed by ferocious rage after that pantomime [in relation to the 1922 meeting].^

"What is our liberty for if not to govern ourselves?..."

Translation: Wah Wah Wah!!!!!

^These fools and knaves and cowards are voting on things they don’t even understand.

We’ve been put in this place by people whose addiction to power without responsibility has led them to put the choice of No Brexit or this deal.

I may yet resign the whip than be part of this.^

From Sam Coates Times, quoting Steve Baker!

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 19:54

Amber Rudd is a more interesting Tory.
I'm being nice here.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 19:56

@tobee, sounds contentious.

Bercow, the peanut butter one wasn't as nice as I'd hoped, so one can be yours! 😂

LonelyTiredandLow · 27/03/2019 19:58

Jeez he sounds like he's stepped out of Chaucerian England!

Flowerplower · 27/03/2019 20:00

He sounds like he's trying and failing to sound like he stepped out of Chaucerian England. More like a few lines from a primary school drama production written by the students.

whymewhynow · 27/03/2019 20:00

Can I just say how delighted I would be if Boris and JRM, having shown everyone how lacking in principles they are, do not have the opportunity to vote for the WA because Bercow prevents it being introduced. Bang goes any pretence of integrity and there's no leadership bid, all the Brexit -loving gammons would be sending them hate mail and worse - it would be absolutely perfect.

icannotremember · 27/03/2019 20:01

Nicky Morgan either wants to be leader or wants to be in with the next leader so has changed approach accordingly.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 20:01

I can't watch. Great British Menu for us!

MyNameIsArthur · 27/03/2019 20:02

Just tuned in after returning from hospital. It's been nearly a week since EU agreed to extend article 50 beyond 29th March, so i don't understand why its taken so long for HofC to start debating this and why they are having a lengthy debate. If the default position in UK law is still to leave on Friday, they should have been having this discussion last Friday. Grrr
