Just wrote an intro and wiped it. So this is as quick as I can sum up.

EU response is extension to 22nd May if May passes her deal by 29th March

Or an unconditional extension to 12 April which could be extended with a plan and understanding to take part in EU elections.

This isn't what may wanted. It gives her less time and leverage

It opens up the possibility of her being ousted as PM in the next couple of days. Graham Brady asked her to quit on Monday. Remain Cabinet ministers are threatening to quit if May whips a vote to support no deal.

The talk is May has indeed flipped to supporting no deal with many think she's pretty much gone full on Colonel Kurtz.

The EU are in effect supporting parliamentary sovereignty and are being incredibly reasonable.

May now has to decide whether to accept.

The whole situation looks explosive and likely that one half of the cabinet or the other are on the brink of walking. And May's power is so shattered.

However she remains the gatekeeper and as it stands if she's hell bent on no deal, it will be extremely difficult for Parliament to prevent that.

ItIsAllGoingToBeFine - what do you expect from the state broadcaster? Hmm and really, you should know better Wink

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 22/03/2019 13:14

Source says No10 in “panic mode”. Meaningful vote would still be held, but expectation is it will fail

Great. No deal here we come.

Just had some shit personal news too. MIL was having a scan investigating her migraines. She has a brain tumour Sad just hoping it’s extemely slow growing.

Tanith · 22/03/2019 13:17

Nig’s best protection against Mueller is to be in a position of political importance in the UK.

He can forget that!! Even Trump dropped him like a hot potato when he realised what a worthless worm Farage really was.

Apileofballyhoo · 22/03/2019 13:18

Oh adequate, that's awful. I'm so sorry.

Runningintothesunset · 22/03/2019 13:19

So sorry There, thinking of you and your family. Flowers

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/03/2019 13:19

ThereWillBeAdequateFood sorry to read about your MIL. Thanks

RedToothBrush · 22/03/2019 13:21

Yes but if nig was a naughty boy, he'd have to be extradited. And as a political figure in British politics that's going to be an issue for any PM in the UK, as it'll be framed as 'an attempt to purge political opponents by throwing him to the wolves of a Liberal conspiracy'.

Ken Clarke on r4. He's been saying the same thing for 3 years. Such patience he has! Perhaps like Junker he had no idea how much!
Just now he said that in May vs brick wall he hopes the brick wall wins next week Grin

ThereWillBeAdequateFood Flowers and thoughts for you and your family.

Will have to be at March in spirit only. Have been trying to sort out childcare etc (can’t take them with me as they have commitments) but just can’t get it to work out. 😭

LonelyTiredandLow · 22/03/2019 13:29

Is there such a word as Brexiplaining? Leaver friend has just done this to me starting with a political description thus:
"of course conservatives (with a small 'c') have the RIGHT attitude - you should work hard and earn and get a house. Labour just want to give everything free to everyone all the time, they are lazy". I interject about Labour being technically the workers party and the Tories being the ones who owned the factories, she then says "oh yes, the people who wanted to die in a pit in unsafe working conditions and then went on STRIKE because they couldn't!" me - I think you will find the mines were owned by wealthy tories and so when you say they were unsafe/poor working conditions... "well this is how we've led the world in work safety isn't it? Imagining we are somehow going to go backwards is crazy!" me: so is that why the tories opened another coal mine this week, just as they are scrapping human rights and workers rights? Confused

She also refused to believe when I read from the Economic and Fiscal Outlook that it was a "proper report" as EVERYTHING that she has seen has said the "complete opposite" - I suggested she actually read the documents produced rather than watching economists on telly Grin
Her boy had to write 2 apology letters for yesterday apparently but she had the cheek to say that it was the child who he threatened's fault (a girl) for being "you know, that annoying one you get in every class".

Needless to say she says she hasn't seen anything about Kent teachers having to take on a care role if we No Deal Hmm.

Sorry, not contributing much politically today - apols for the deviation into hypnosis also - I do understand it isn't the right way to go about things Smile

LonelyTiredandLow · 22/03/2019 13:34

@There Flowers - so sorry to hear your news.
Hope I don't annoy everyone with updates from my leaver. She really gets me enraged every time I speak to her now and I need to vent it to people who understand my thinking. I don't get out much Grin.

BigChocFrenzy · 22/03/2019 13:34

AdequateFood So sorry to hear the bad news 💐

BigChocFrenzy · 22/03/2019 13:37

lonelytired She sounds like a contact who should be binned.

It's good to listen to some other POVs, but not those that are at tantrumming toddler level.

Yes it's grim
All the Brexit chickens are coming home to roost - with virulent bird flu

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 22/03/2019 13:39

Thanks everyone. Really good of you.

There’s a chance it’s been there for decades, she’s going to have another scan in 3 months. It could be so slow growing it isn’t going to affect her at all. Yet another thing to be unsure about Sad

MissInnocentFace · 22/03/2019 13:40

@LonelyTiredandLow

Apparently a ‘Brexit FAQ for Schools’ document has been emailed to all schools. Perhaps your Leaver friend should check her school has received theirs and that it isn’t stuck in a spam folder?!
