There is a lot of security software to stop abuse of sites like this. I don't know specifics of the government petition website but it is highly likely there are multiple levels of defence.

Voter suppression is one of the dark arts of Kremlin bots. Don't be put off by them...

I signed last night at 250K back when it was cool, watched it tip over the half a million mark this morning, and am now sporadically checking back in to see how it's getting on.

I don't think it will make a blind bit of difference to us crashing out in just over a week, but at least it's nice to know that there are others out there who feel like me :-(

It took about half an hour from first trying to my signature finally being added.
Tens/hundreds of thousands of signatures will be lost because people don't have the time to spend half an hour signing this. Such a shame.

I wonder if it's a traffic issue or the powers that be trying to fuck with it.
