The people "in charge" hopefully don't want an absolute catastrophe on their hands. Let them run down the clock if it means it forces MPs to support WA rather than No Deal.
I'll take WA over no deal any day of the week.

Kicking the can down the road is the only strategy TM knows!
As Bellini says, it’s to force MPs to approve the WA, which is miles better than no-deal but light years worse than our current deal.

@bellinisurge whilst I agree with you to an extent - there is a lot of damage being done due to the running down of the clock.

Even if we accept TM’s Deal or revoke we have lost so much already

I'm inclined to agree with you regarding either revoke or another referendum.
I think TM will revoke/call another Ref at the last possible minute. She can then say she tried her best but its impossible.

I think regardless of whatever happens there are going to be an awful lot of bitterly disappointed people.

We started off with the wrong choice of person to lead us through Brexit and it's been a shit show since day 1.

Even though I’d prefer that this referendum had never happened I’d like to think that given the choice the MPs would choose the WA over the chaos of a No deal. But given Westminster’s frequent inability to recognise problems and deal with them I don’t have much confidence in our elected representatives.

I voted Remain. I have accepted that we will leave. I am prepared to accept WA. I will not accept No Deal. That is a fucking catastrophe that no sane person should welcome.

I think it's much more a case that the people in charge don't want to be associated with the fall out of leaving.

The problem is the central determinant of so many politicians' careers is promising to the people that hard binary choices can be avoided, fudged or wished away.

That's irrelevant when it's their actual job to process the democratic will of the people, regardless of their own opinions.

I think I can say with some confidence that MPs who went against the wishes of how their constituency voted (Leaver OR Remain) will not find themselves in a job come the next election.

The prominent Leave campaigner, who was made Brexit secretary, didn't want to leave?

That would certainly explain why he turned up at EU negotiations armed with no information and boasting that he didn't know anything...

MPs, as representatives and not delegates, are elected to vote for what they believe is in the best interest of the country.

But, then again, if you want to get rid of the Leave voting MPs in Remain constituencies then I wouldn't be sad to see the back of:

The UK public elects Members of Parliament (MPs) to represent their interests and concerns in the House of Commons. MPs consider and can propose new laws as well as raising issues that matter to you in the House. I agree they are running the clock down to force the WA through. Then it will be two more years of qrnagling until we're at a similar point again.

No true. In most of the working class areas I can see people re-electing their MP if they were on the side of how the constituency voted.

You're projecting what you think onto millions of people.

You can pretend they were bystanders all you like but they couldn't do it. Because it was a fool's errand.
