Who thinks there should be another referendum?
My mum says there shouldn't but my husband says there should be I'm not very sure.

What do u think?

Revoke is the worst option as EU would have a good argument for charging UK for their disruption costs.

The May deal is remain in disguise.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/03/2019 12:18

I live in France so couldn’t vote.
Are you talking about this booklet @MissedTheBoatAgain?

First I have heard of it. So with this information people still voted leave... Confused

MissedTheBoatAgain · 11/03/2019 12:20

TM isn't saying that now

Why not? MP's playing flip flop is one of the reasons Brexit has become a mess.

TonightJosephine · 11/03/2019 12:26

Remember the booklet that remain campaign sent to every household at cost of £9 million to the UK Taxpayer. That spelt out the risks of a leave result.

Yes and the leave voters chose not to believe it.

Personally I think so-called "Project Fear" underestimated the risks of Brexit and it will actually pan out much worse than they predicted.

MissedTheBoatAgain · 11/03/2019 12:28

Yes and the leave voters chose not to believe it

That is their entitlement.

Do you believe every word government says?

goldengummybear · 11/03/2019 12:29

If there was a second vote, I'd be interested to see if they change the wording and explain Brexit. I am a Remainer but would accept Leave-but-stay-in-the-Single-Market and Leave-with-WA.

JRMisOdious · 11/03/2019 12:29

Do get tired of people who have made their lives elsewhere, through choice, or who have a nice safe dual nationality escape route, pontificating on the benefits of leaving from their insulated ivory towers.
If you’re not prepared to throw your lot in with the rest of us, please keep your irrelevant opinions to yourselves.
Can’t stand Gisela Stuart, disagree with her about practically everything, but at least she had the integrity to give up her German citizenship and right to vote there when she made the decision to settle here.

bringincrazyback · 11/03/2019 12:30

Haven't RTFT but I wish we could have another referendum.

I blame f'ing Cameron for setting the whole ball rolling in the first place and then running away. Wasn't him that had to pick up the pieces, was it?! Angry

1tisILeClerc · 11/03/2019 12:30

CurlyWurlyTwirly
Yes, that's the one.
Unfortunately the 'leave' parties had a big red bus that had untruths written on it so more people voted for that instead.
£350 Million a week to the NHS, claiming that it was the amount that the UK paid to the EU. Factually it is nearer £200 Million and in any case the UK government had money it could have put into the NHS all along (and still isn't), and it was nothing to do with the EU.

lunicorn · 11/03/2019 12:33

No. I wish none of this had happened And I can't imagine a 2nd referendum will improve anything.
We're just stuffed.

TonightJosephine · 11/03/2019 12:34

That is their entitlement.

Do you believe every word government says?

No. Not least because the government no longer has any respect for experts.

MissedTheBoatAgain · 11/03/2019 12:41

What experts? What happened to instant demise of UK by just voting to leave?

Lexilooo · 11/03/2019 12:49

Honestly I think the government should just do their job, admit that none of this is in the best interests of the country and revoke article 50. The referendum wasn't binding, even if it were the result could be overturned as the campaigns were almost certainly illegal. Further the referendum lacked sufficient specificity to enable the government to claim any kind of mandate for a deal or no deal decision.

I think another referendum is a waste of money but I would support it as a way to dig ourselves out of the current mess.

I will also be going on the peoples vote march.

TonightJosephine · 11/03/2019 12:51

What experts? What happened to instant demise of UK by just voting to leave?

I'm talking about the thousands of experts, in just about every area of business, academia and science, who keep warning us that Brexit will be bad for their particular sector because X, Y or Z, and whom leavers choose to ignore because they know better, of course.

MissedTheBoatAgain · 11/03/2019 12:57

whom leavers choose to ignore because they know better, of course

Voting is what people choose personally based on their perception of what is on offer and the future benefits.

Remember that voters are measured in the 10 of millions as opposed to the thousands of experts you refer.

1tisILeClerc · 11/03/2019 12:58

{What experts? What happened to instant demise of UK by just voting to leave?}
Relationship changes between countries are never instantaneous. Even a 'sudden' crash out no deal actually implies around a year of discussion. The WA is projected to take 2 - 3 years to actually disentangle the UK from the EU.

bellinisurge · 11/03/2019 12:58

@MissedTheBoatAgain , you have by your own words lived outside the UK and E.U. for 30 years. What do you know?

MissedTheBoatAgain · 11/03/2019 13:00

even if it were the result could be overturned as the campaigns were almost certainly illegal

Only according to those that voted remain.

I think another referendum is a waste of money but I would support it as a way to dig ourselves out of the current mess

And if another referendum produced the same result would you want another and another...…...

bellinisurge · 11/03/2019 13:03

@MissedTheBoatAgain , I personally don't want another referendum that has No Deal as an option. Unlike you, I don't think the majority of people in NI want Unification with Ireland. You are just embarrassing yourself.

TonightJosephine · 11/03/2019 13:09

Remember that voters are measured in the 10 of millions as opposed to the thousands of experts you refer.

Yes. Which is why we are doing something so obviously stupid and damaging. The number of non-experts outweighs the number of experts.

TonightJosephine · 11/03/2019 13:10

Only according to those that voted remain.

And the Electoral Commission.

MissedTheBoatAgain · 11/03/2019 13:16

The number of non-experts outweighs the number of experts

A vote cast by a person with an IQ of 10 carries the same weight as a vote cast by someone who has an IQ of 200.

It is called democracy

bellinisurge · 11/03/2019 13:17

Yes @MissedTheBoatAgain . We know what democracy is. And tax paying. When did you last pay UK tax?

MissedTheBoatAgain · 11/03/2019 13:18

And the Electoral Commission

So why has the result of the referendum not been cancelled?

bellinisurge · 11/03/2019 13:19

Because it was an advisory referendum. Haven't you been paying attention?
