Three of them that I've seen pics of on FB.

Clever advertising.

FFS, it's humour. It's hilarious. Well I find it hilarious.

We all know that an England game is going to be a battle. So just looking forward to the match really!

MeganBacon Germany were punished for what they did, they accepted responsibility and recognise that Hitler was an evil prick and what they did was wrong.

Hello everyone. There's nothing wrong with a bit of sporting rivalry - but can we ask that you keep it civil and nothing below the belt please?

Thanks

Counter hatred. Dont make me laugh! The underlying premises of brexit is hatred.

As has been the years long treatment of the Irish. Think paddy, nothing but a mick, No Irish apply signs. All not that long ago.

www.joe.ie/news/former-brexit-secretary-dominic-raab-admits-never-read-good-friday-agreement-657014

This pretty much sums up the level of consideration that was given to NI, UK and Ireland situation. Sweet fuck all.

The whole brexit and the negotiations has been screwed by the UK and their long held imprelistic beliefs that are never far from the surface. Now the shoe is on the other foot it's not really that comfortable a place to be!

What makes the ads funny is they are bloody true.

People who wouldn't have dreamed of swapping their British passports to Irish is some thing I also find so ironic! Now every one wishes they were Irish Grin

Maybe83 · 02/02/2019 12:29

And I think it will all be taken in banter today.

Rugby match days are great fun.

Whisky2014 · 02/02/2019 12:31

Rugby match days are great fun. they really are. I was so close to buying tickets, I really wish i had now!

WitchesHatRim · 02/02/2019 12:34

And I think it will all be taken in banter today.

Maybe, maybe not. Lets face it its only true aim was to get Paddy Power in the media. Going to look slightly daft however if Ireland loose.

Rugby match days are great fun.

I go to many. My family are season ticket holders to a major premiership club.

SalrycLuxx · 02/02/2019 12:34

You can only get an Irish passport if your parents or grandparents are Irish

Or if you move to Ireland for 5 years. Which will still be an option for me despite my utterly English and a bit more English lineage, under the CTA for the foreseeable future,.

SisterOfDonFrancisco · 02/02/2019 12:38

It's always hateful when "the other side" does it. The whole brexit thing is based on us vs them. It's not great and wouldn't it be amazing if nobody did it and everyone including our MPs and mainstream media acted like responsible adults.

Butterymuffin · 02/02/2019 12:42

Raab's admission he hasn't read the Good Friday Agreement (all 35 pages) is deeply embarrassing and offensive (and I'm English) more so than the Paddy Power ads could ever be.

I hope it's a good game. Enjoyed the Welsh comeback last night.

Maybe83 · 02/02/2019 12:45

That's probably harder work. We don't have anything like the NHS or free schools.

Though we tend not to take our selves to seriously, have a really beautiful landscape and a brilliant rugby team so might be worth giving it a go 😀.

Lots of business investment with employment opportunities. High housing costs though.

Not too much to trade for a few years if you really needed a passport from member state.

jasjas1973 · 02/02/2019 12:59

@surferjet

I’m just saying I find the PP adverts distasteful, unnecessary, childish, & not funny in anyway

Awwwwww Snowflake!

i found them all very amusing, esp in light of a UK newspaper name calling their PM .......... the same newspaper that told Obama to butt out of UK politics.

Peregrina · 02/02/2019 13:01

I found the adverts hilarious.

LadyandGent · 02/02/2019 13:47

England really can't take a joke can they!

Ireland has been the butt of English jokes for centuries. Still are incidentally. At work, it's about once I week that Ireland gets the piss taken. Except we can take a joke. So we just laugh along.

That said, in fairness to the hundreds of thousands of MN posters from england, only a few have commented negatively, so maybe the majority get the humour.

They made me laugh.

Whisky2014 · 02/02/2019 16:10

Fucking hell. My posts weren't even bad ffs Mumsnet that is pathetic.

Anyhoo yay for SCOTLAND! Though not sure what they were doing at the end there!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/02/2019 17:37

Well i thought the advert was funny

Wales are gonna win anyway Grin

Whisky2014 · 02/02/2019 17:38

I think this is going to be close. Both teams are quite evenly matched, none with big injury issues. I'd say Ireland have a little more experience and of course a home ground but its been good so far!

SusanWalker · 02/02/2019 17:50

I thought they were hilarious. Especially the backstop one. They're funny but with an edge, because it's true. We've screwed Ireland over for years and now we're doing it again, because we want to get our own way and don't care who we hurt in the process.

Let's face it they're not offensive like certain people telling Ireland that they need to solve the problem of the border by leaving the EU and joining in with the UK. Which wasn't even said as a joke.

Let's not lose our sense of humour in all this.

surferjet · 02/02/2019 18:35

Well done England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

WitchesHatRim · 02/02/2019 18:37

I think this is going to be close.

Not that close GrinWink

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/02/2019 18:38

Come on Ireland

England teams do have a habit of undelivering...all that promise

Hopefully it'll be a good match though
