Andrea Leadsome's comment is about as reassuring as a PM saying he/she has full support for a minister shortly before firing them Wink

jasjas1973 · 12/12/2018 08:53

Speaking to the nation not her MP's....again.

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2018 08:54

Jason Groves @ jasongroves1
No 10 pumping out polling to MPs. Two-thirds of Tory councillors want May; three-quarters of Tory voters want her to see through Brexit; public don't believe rivals would get a better deal, by a majority of three to one, and so on. Will it be enough?

Owen Paterson was on the Today prog this morning (I listened out of patriotic duty despite JH presenting) sounding decidedly sweaty. Are Brexiteers all on coke?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/12/2018 08:55

Untopical given how quickly events are unfolding but this made me laugh

@HolyroodLiam
I know it's not the point but it's actually incredible to me that Theresa May has found an option which isn't covered by this.

Sophy Ridge @ sophyridgesky
PM says a leadership election would mean “weeks spent tearing us apart...” wouldn’t change the parliamentary numbers and would only benefit Jeremy Corbyn

Mrs8 I agree she will never resign. That may well be what loses her today's vote. If she wins and Labour triggers a GE then the Tories would be stuck with her to fight it - does anyone seriously think she could win?

I agree with Mrs8. Sense of duty / stubborn.

If I were her I would get through the vote of confidence (which I think she will) then get an Article 50 extension to negotiate a softer Brexit, getting Labour MPs on side while undermining Corbyn.

However, can't see TM doing this.

PMK.

But also saying that DS and I decided on the walk to school that Boris and Michael Gove were probably Slitheen, and that we need the Doctor to come and sort things out, hopefully with her sonic screwdriver.

Dh has just read out a tweet:

The bastards who got us into this bastarding mess are now calling each other bastards

Quite. Angry

So I'm backing Theresa May as the least worst candidate - haven't we been here before?

In a burst of premature optimism last week I made inroads into the Brexit stash chocolate - need to replace it now...

howabout · 12/12/2018 09:18

Labour can win a No Confidence vote with everyone including the DUP, who hold the balance of power.

howabout · 12/12/2018 09:20

Bill Cash coming out for Dominic Raab as single unifying candidate. Talking as if he already knows tonight's result.

Brace for this thread to fill up by tonight, Red.

I put on two stone stress-eating after the Brexit result came out. I'm now inclined to look at this as a fabulous strategy for coping with food shortages in the event of a no-deal/chaotic Brexit.

howabout · 12/12/2018 09:24

DUP already stated they will vote No Confidence if May and the Withdrawal Agreement stay.

prettybird · 12/12/2018 09:25

Bill Cash would Hmm

I love (Wink) the comments about May being "fatally wounded" if she wins by only one vote and then continues as she has said she would do.

Don't. They. Understand?

You can't fatally wound a Zombie as they are already dead Grin
