It’s the national animal of Scotland, just as England’s is a lion, Wales a dragon etc.

Heatherjayne1972 · 15/11/2018 20:58

It’s the lion and the unicorn.
Isn’t that some sort of national/traditional / historical theme?

Theboldandthebeautiful1 · 15/11/2018 21:00

It’s the royal coat of arms Confused

bellinisurge · 15/11/2018 21:00

It's not the PM's emblem.

MrsTeacake · 15/11/2018 21:00

A unicorn is on the Scottish coat of arms.

Bearbehind · 15/11/2018 21:01

It was on her lecturn.

I just think it’s more than a little ironic in the circumstances.

MrsTeacake · 15/11/2018 21:02

Can't see the irony myself.

PinkCalluna · 15/11/2018 21:03

Bear you are in danger of upsetting all the Scots.

StoorieHoose · 15/11/2018 21:03

The Unicorn is the National Animal of Scotland.

Mrscaindingle · 15/11/2018 21:03

Sigh....it's the national animal for Scotland as you are now no doubt going to be told many times.

rededucator · 15/11/2018 21:05

Have you even looked at your passport? It's on the front of that too ...

plaidlife · 15/11/2018 21:05

I scooted over to this thread to say what has already been said. If you look there is one on your passport too.

Bearbehind · 15/11/2018 21:06

i have no intention of upsetting anyone.

It’s just cracked me up that TMs speech has a unicorn in the foreground.

Whatever the history of it, it has different connections in this context.

OP posts:
PinkCalluna · 15/11/2018 21:06

Are you British OP?

Because while I’m generally depressed by how little MNers know about Scottish culture, I usually assume that they know a minimal about British culture...

MrsTeacake · 15/11/2018 21:07

@bearbehind
No it doesn't. You've just made yourself look like a dafty.

StoorieHoose · 15/11/2018 21:07

“Whatever the history”?? Maybe your should have googled the history before posting a thread

Bearbehind · 15/11/2018 21:08

Yes I am British but had no idea the Scots had a mythical creature as their national animal.

I just think it’s funny in this context.

😂

MrsTerryPratcett · 15/11/2018 21:08

Bear you are in danger of upsetting all the Scots.

Too late. It's not 'history' it's present. I bet all the Scots are expected to know about your stupid, self-aggrandizing lion. The unicorn is awesome.

Bearbehind · 15/11/2018 21:09

I couldn’t have told you the English national anmal was a lion.

I’d have guessed a dragon for Wales.

Why are people so hung up on this kind of stuff.

OP posts:
plaidlife · 15/11/2018 21:10

It isn't about the history it is the actual current symbol of Scotland. It is everywhere if you open your eyes and look.

StoorieHoose · 15/11/2018 21:11

Really you didn’t know it was a Lion? Ever heard of Three Lions from that god awful song sung everywhere cos of a football tournament? Aye right

plaidlife · 15/11/2018 21:12

Are you a wee bit bored OP?

Bearbehind · 15/11/2018 21:12

So why don’t the Scots get annoyed when people talk about Brexit being built on unicorns and rainbows?
