to think if you LOVE the UK it is NOW time to make yourself heard

Write to your MP and let them know if you want the UK to stay in the Single Market/Customs Union or remain in the EU.

Let them know that you will hold them personally responsible if the UK leaves with No Deal or a Bad Deal.

Let them know you will not tolerate the Good Friday Agreement breaking down and peace in Northern Ireland being put at risk.

If you are a Labour party supporter or potential voter let them know that you want them to come out in favour of SM/CU or Remain - NOW.

Sign the petitions (I can link if you like) demanding a People's Vote and get ready to write to the PM on 9th November.

Don't report this to MNHQ and ask for it to be put in the Brexit topic - it's a genuine AIBU and too important to be hidden away.

The people did indeed speak in 2016, half of them were listened to. Now we need to be listened to again.

It’s not “a genuine AIBU” and you can’t tell people not to report it.

butterflysugarbaby · 26/10/2018 12:12

PMSL at the OP demanding people don't report this to get it moved to the Brexit topic/board.

I think you probably know what I am going to do next OP.... (and many other posters...) Grin

WhyDidIEatThat · 26/10/2018 12:13

< misses the point >

Do people actually LOVE the uk? I mean parts of it definitely have their charms and there are worse places to live but love is quite a strong word

mummymeister · 26/10/2018 12:14

I will write to my MP. I will tell my MP to vote for the deal put forward by May so that we can leave the EU. All this nonsense about a peoples vote - we had one, remoaners lost, move on. why is your half of the argument so much more important than my half of the argument that yours deserves another vote. and what if you lose the "peoples vote" what then? another peoples vote?
You cant please everyone when there is a vote. the snowflakes need to understand that unlike school sports day where everyone wins a prize in a democracy you win sometimes and you lose sometimes. Corbyn hates the EU so the Momentum party aren't going to change either.

Just have a bit of respect for the last "peoples vote" - which most of us grown ups call a referendum. You cant keep on voting until you personally get the outcome you want.

Beat you to it butterflysugarbaby Grin

Well done MNHQ, well done.
Not.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 26/10/2018 12:28

Why is Brexit, the single thing that will have the most impact on almost all Mumsnetters, not suitable for the AIBU area?

onalongsabbatical · 26/10/2018 12:31

I'm a passionate remainer but to be honest I think if you think people aren't already as engaged as they can be you don't have a very high view of other human beings. Sign the People's Vote petition, write to my MP, gee I'd never have thought of those things all by myself. Besides which my MP is Rees-Mogg so you can imagine what the letter he wrote back was. People who want to do something are doing it. I don't think this is the way to go about it. And also climate change is rapidly going to take over IMHO. Drown as a little Brit or drown as a European - meh.
Yeah, not my most optimistic post.

threetrees · 26/10/2018 12:35

Have a laugh, the OP is about as one-sided as you can get - so what should I tell my MP, who is in fact a Leave supporting Con?

Growingboys · 26/10/2018 12:36

I love the UK and I want to leave, thanks

MardyBra · 26/10/2018 12:37

It's been moved to Brexit. Best keep commenting to keep it in Active Convos.

threetrees · 26/10/2018 12:41

if one really loved the UK, then giving up sovereignty would be a darned strange way of showing it

OneforsorrowTwoforJoyce · 26/10/2018 13:28

Oh come on, MNHQ. You don't automatically move topics because they've been reported.

You've taken the decision over the past few weeks to keep genuine Brexit related AIBUs on MN's most active board. Please move this back - it's too important an issue to hard away.

OneforsorrowTwoforJoyce · 26/10/2018 13:30

@Growingboys - that counts as a YABU and shows why this is a genuine AIBU. Thanks Smile

@Oneforsorrowtwoforjoyce

MNHQ moved this thread because it was in the wrong place. Not because people reported it.

Should have been in Brexit Chat. You have no right to be treated like a special snowflake because you think YOUR views are more important than anyone else's!

And you were asking for trouble telling people not to report it! People don't like being told what to do! Wink

And now I am leaving this thread (and board!) because Brexit chat bores the shit out of me, I am glad we are leaving, and goodbye! Grin

Singlenotsingle · 26/10/2018 13:36

I'm obviously missing something here, but why does it matter which board it's on? I found this humerous post by a somewhat deluded OP, on the Brexit board.

prettybird · 26/10/2018 13:39

Can we start to report all topics in AIBU that could should be in another topic? Wink

Or is it only the important topics, that will impact all of us in the UK, that get moved? Angry

SmallBee · 26/10/2018 13:41

My MP is Michael Gove...... So I'm not feeling optimistic!

sunglasses123 · 26/10/2018 13:44

One - you are telling people what to do based on what you would do. There was a vote. The people voted to Leave. It was a close vote as expected and IMHO Cameron should never have left this to the public to decide but please don't tell anyone what to do!

BTW - there was a Peoples Vote....

Chocolala · 26/10/2018 13:50

I don’t want another bloody vote.

We had one. It was divisive and has been the starting point for the most inept negotiations ever seen.

And positions are entrenched. They will remain entrenched until it’s all over and people see what really happens as a result (good or bad).

The only people that should be acting/voting now are the MPs. Who should be given a free vote and told to look at all the options, look at wag at each will do to their constituency, and then actually lead the country by making a damned decision as to what they think is acceptable.

Thomasinaa · 26/10/2018 13:51

Yes, I will write to my MP again. He is a Tory who campaigned to remain. Has now been promoted and has sold his soul to the leadership.

OneforsorrowTwoforJoyce · 26/10/2018 13:51

"Don't report it ..." was on my list of things to do or not to do if you love - or at least care about - the UK.

"deluded OP"
" special snowflake"
"remoaners lost, move on"
" the snowflakes need to understand that ... in a democracy you win sometimes and you lose sometimes"

The insults are soooooo original Grin

I have no interest in debating Brexit anymore. Time's running out. If you want to leave the EU let those in power - and the Opposition - know what kind of a deal you want, don't trust them to just get on with it because we've seen how well that's going.

If you want to remain in the EU or CU/SM - now's the time to really make yourself heard (that's democracy to me). It's not to late to get the deal that is best for this country.
