Westminstenders: Crisis. What Crisis

October is slowly rolling into November.

Your eyes, rightly, will be distracted by events the other side of the pond.

It won't be good and it won't be pretty and it will have an impact on what happens here in relation to Brexit in one way or another.

May seems to have headed off trouble makers for now. But that means nothing if she can't get a deal through parliament.

And if you think we are in anyway prepared for No Deal I'd like whatever drugs you are taking. That way lies only disorder and to put it bluntly, deaths.

We MUST find a deal, any deal to prevent that. Desperation is the final ingredients in this mess. Who will blink as they realise what's at stake?

The problem is though, is too few MPs have grasped what's at state, such is the quality of our elected representatives. And that's the truly terrifying bit.

If they can't work out the risk of no deal, they certainly not equipped to handle the fall out of no deal.

If you want to shit yourself anymore, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that the minister responsible for hauling all your food and medical supplies in the event if no deal, is Mr Christopher Grayling.

Start praying.

I'll make sure to do that Kenn - it would be wonderful if she got snowed under with the letters (though will her aids just not tell her about them?)
Where did you hear about it?

Hannan: WA draft EU citizens in UK will be given voting rights

Doesn't say if this is for GEs - as for Commonwealth citizens - or just local
3 million (how many adults ?) - if they stay - would make a significant difference

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/oct/25/leading-brexiter-claims-eu-citizens-in-uk-will-be-given-voting-rights

Daniel Hannan, a Conservative founder of Vote Leave, told fellow Conservative MEPs on Thursday that he had been given sight of key Brexit papers,
which are supposed to be a closely-guarded secret among senior ministers and civil servants. 🤔

In a WhatsApp message to other MEPs, Hannan said that the agreement would give voting rights to all EU citizens in England and Northern Ireland.
He went on to say that voting rights were devolved in Scotland and Wales

"For what it’s worth, it will significantly bolster the non-Tory electorate.”😂

BigChocFrenzy · 25/10/2018 23:11

We could agree a Westministenders template for that letter

Hazardswan · 25/10/2018 23:12

Can we swear at her in it bigchoc? Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 25/10/2018 23:13

We demand a People's Vote before Brexit:
Remain vs whatever WA has been agreed
If no WA has been agreed, then Remain vs no deal

@Icantreachthepretzels

Where did you hear about it?

Meat industry warns : Beef, lamb & mince could be 50% more expensive in the UK after no deal Brexit

Pork & poultry 30 % up .... heeeere comes Donald !

www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/oct/25/no-deal-brexit-could-raise-price-of-mince-by-50-meat-industry-says

KennDodd · 25/10/2018 23:22

Please share as well. Get everybody in your household (who agrees) to write as well.

Icantreachthepretzels · 25/10/2018 23:24

Another global green here - along with Jeremy Corbyn, Gary Lineker and Bob Geldof. I'm not sure who the women in the picture were - apart from I think one was Caroline Lucas.

If no WA has been agreed, then Remain vs no deal

If there is no WA then the options should literally just be 'remain'. Not very democratic, I know - but no government that even wants to make the pretence of being serious, competent and working for the good of the country should ever countenance the possibility of no deal.

If there is no deal to be had - then article 50 must be revoked. They cannot ask a gullible and ill informed electorate to vote on this - especially with a criminal investigation into the leave campaign underway.

'In the event of a WA we demand a people's vote to allow the citizens of this country to decide if this is the future they want - once the facts are clear and we know exactly what is on offer. In the event of no deal we demand that article 50 be rescinded. Nobody voted to be poorer. A democracy which cannot change it's mind ceases to be a democracy.'

Hazardswan · 25/10/2018 23:25

Meat 50% more expensive but I bet animal welfare plummets.

DP on board with letter will chat face to face with others to get them on board....would it be emotional blackmail if I started crying over medication and food???

Icantreachthepretzels · 25/10/2018 23:25

Facebook in'it

ah - I don't facebook. Thanks - I'll spread the word.

Peregrina · 25/10/2018 23:35

"For what it’s worth, it will significantly bolster the non-Tory electorate.”😂

Won't happen then.

Don't produce a template for letters - ones which are all the same get discarded. How would we know how many letters got delivered though? With the march last Saturday, we could use our eyes... despite a handful of Leavers who weren't there telling us that we were wrong.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 25/10/2018 23:59

With the state of the Royal Mail I’m not sure how you could ensure a letter would be delivered on 9th, other than guaranteed next day delivery. Worth splashing out on for those whose finances permit.

KennDodd · 26/10/2018 00:06

Better still, if they all had to be signed for :)

lonelyplanetmum · 26/10/2018 06:11

Ok just some things I find shocking, disgusting, shameful and appalling over the last couple of days.Just a normal few days or hours. In that short period we in the U.K. have behaved as follows:

•	Our honourable minister in charge of Brexit has point blank refused. Refused- to give evidence to the prestigious and mostly experienced select committee set up to monitor the EU departure process. Maverick lack of co operation.Appalling.
•	Our British Conservative MEPs were some of the very few on the international stage to abstain in the EP vote on a Saudi Arabia arms embargo. It passed 242 votes to 23 despite us though.Shameful we abstained. ( Of course Leave voters knew they were voting for increased Saudi arms trade. Why wasn't that on the side of a bus?Our esteemed minister Fox was also prioritising a Saudi trade conference last week but had to withdraw, and despite being busy May rushed to Saudi twice in 2017 you will recall.)
•	Our great economic future involved leading the way in tech. Yet quietly our leading role here has slumped as startup hubs fall as our lemming jump approaches.
•	Also our former disgraced etc minister Fox has triggered the formal WTO negotiation path..joining WTO is not guaranteed and could now take years. Great.

Meanwhile on the flip side the only positive is the EU ,which we’ve quit, bans single use plastics and condemns Saudi arms.

It wasn’t like this before. It really wasn’t.

Place marking

lonelyplanetmum · 26/10/2018 06:58

Better article on the failure of the WTO quick process and the longer we have now started. We can continue to trade under outdated agreements while we agree terms.Sticking points are other non EU countries controlling reservations about our proposed treatment of Tariff Rate Quotas, What a mess.

Another Global Greeny placemarking 👋

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 26/10/2018 07:23

lonelyplanet I’m just up and your post has brought tears to my eyes. Even, if by some miracle and the most catastrophic shortages do not happen and people do not go hungry and vital medicine is still available, even if that miracle means the economy doesn’t go down the pan and mass unemployment does not happen, we are so, so diminished as a nation. And there will be no miracle anyway.

I woke this morning mid dream that brexit had been cancelled. I felt bereft when I realised it was just a dream.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 26/10/2018 07:25

KennDodd I think all guaranteed next day delivery is signed for Smile

I'm sorry about that SingingB and wish your dreams could come true.

Mrsr8 I'm going to rant in mine. It's a numbers game anyway. I'm sure only a sample will be read.
