Westminstenders: Crisis. What Crisis

October is slowly rolling into November.

Your eyes, rightly, will be distracted by events the other side of the pond.

It won't be good and it won't be pretty and it will have an impact on what happens here in relation to Brexit in one way or another.

May seems to have headed off trouble makers for now. But that means nothing if she can't get a deal through parliament.

And if you think we are in anyway prepared for No Deal I'd like whatever drugs you are taking. That way lies only disorder and to put it bluntly, deaths.

We MUST find a deal, any deal to prevent that. Desperation is the final ingredients in this mess. Who will blink as they realise what's at stake?

The problem is though, is too few MPs have grasped what's at state, such is the quality of our elected representatives. And that's the truly terrifying bit.

If they can't work out the risk of no deal, they certainly not equipped to handle the fall out of no deal.

If you want to shit yourself anymore, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that the minister responsible for hauling all your food and medical supplies in the event if no deal, is Mr Christopher Grayling.

Start praying.

Alan Beattie

Former Aussie PM urges Britain to put zero tariffs on imports from EU. Via WTO rules this means zero tariffs on all. And that means Aussie beef, sheep, sugar farmers destroying U.K. counterparts. Standard mercantilism disguised as friendly advice.

I'd link to the Tony Abbott story but only The Spectator and Shitefart come up when I googled quickly. But this story came up and it's really odd - the comments are hilarious.

Tony Abbott stares blankly at Julia Gillard for entire minute.

Well done @Mightybanhammer . Cool cat btw.
Check out Project Diaries on YouTube for gardening ideas.

As part of an outreach effort to this growing community and its new members, the Irish Embassy in Berlin hosted a large event in October under the brand, "Young Irish Berliners". The objective of the event was to obtain a better insight into the new community and to establish if there was more they could be doing to serve this community, to help them assist one another and to get a sense of whether there are opportunities for the Embassy to build on the commercial, cultural and community connections being established by these young emigrants.

From the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs link a little bit upthread. I get a sense that Ireland is more about soft influence and I also suspect in the context of Brexit that this has been a very productive approach.

I’m Global Green Community too.

I thought I’d come out as far more centreist.

Thanks for the lovely new thread. Flowers

The time zone is hardly a big issue I would have thought. Not only do peninsula Spain and Portugal keep different times, large countries like the USA have a number of zones. It's not really a big deal is it? At the point where the Russian, Norwegian and Finnish borders meet there are 3 zones.

@Mighty bahn
Nice cat (obviously not as nice as mine is to me but you know how it is!) but equating inquisitiveness and raised gardening I would check the bag carefully soon!
Mr Raab STILL managing to insult the Europeans. It seems most of the cabinet have some sort of 'death wish'.
Of course it will be slow going through Calais. Nothing to do with the French MAKING it slow, but simply that there are insufficient facilities to check all vehicles which is a requirement FORCED on the French by the UK.
That Alan Beattie comment, I bet many of the UK gov and leavers would fall for that as they have been saying it is a 'solution' for some time.

To say thanks once again, RTB here's a photo of my DD holding a large toothbrush on Saturday.

Time zones, no problem ,any countries have differing times. I believe there was even an area of southern India which has a 'half hour' difference but that seems so wrong it can't be true.

1tisILeClerc · 25/10/2018 22:03

My My @Lonely, what big teeth your DD has!

UnnecessaryFennel · 25/10/2018 22:04

Interesting Independent link - I came up as Global Green as well.

More on Tony Abbott

Peter Ungphakorn Retweeted Owen Paterson MP
"I don't have access to this article, but is that former Australian PM Tony Abbott?

Australia has among the toughest sanitary and phytosanitary measures in the world (the dogs at the airport are cute but they have a job to do). No controls? Pull the other one, Tony."

Here's the thread with some useful comments - from people who do know about these things.

bellinisurge · 25/10/2018 22:07

Yes, a bit rich urging us to have no import controls. From an Australian. Like other countries they see rich pickings over an economically wounded carcass that will be the UK economy.
Can't wait for all those great deals with all the cards we are holding.

Peregrina · 25/10/2018 22:08

The whole of India is on 5 1/2 hours ahead of us. There is no rule which says we can only have time zones in one hour jumps.

I believe that there are one or two anomalous places in the USA where like the Russian/Finnish/Norwegian border 3 zones abut. It's a bit confusing for those who live in one and work or go to school in the part with the two hour difference.

The best part of this, is that we either crash out, so we will have no say in what the EU does, or we will get BINO, and still have no say.

Peregrina · 25/10/2018 22:12

Here you go, an Australian example.

Imagine seeing in the Millennium three times in one night!

Hazardswan · 25/10/2018 22:17

Surprisingly I'm green clan to...I think if you understand that climate change is a danger then your green but I kinda thought climate change was pretty important to everyone other than far right.

{The Lighthouse That Wrecked More Ships Than it Saved }
Following the article about Aussie time zones there was this piece which could be an interesting 'mascot' for Brexit.
Getting a party organised in Antarctica must be crazy with all those time zones involved!

Quietrebel · 25/10/2018 22:26

Interesting- another global green community here...

SwedishEdith · 25/10/2018 22:27

Tony Abbott has got - predictable - views on climate change as well.
Been reading up about him today

I understand that climate change is a huge danger but I'm not green apparently.

Global Green Community as well - not surprised. This bit especially "little interest in the nation-state".

KennDodd · 25/10/2018 23:02

@Motheroffourdragons

@BigChocFrenzy

The letter writing campaign is to write a letter, a physical letter, in an envelope with a stamp, demanding a People's Vote, or protesting Brexit, sent to the PM at 10 Downing Street to arrive on the 9th November. If everybody who attended the march on Saturday wrote 700,000 letters would arrive that day. I plan to write and send an email.

KennDodd · 25/10/2018 23:03

I dont have a link I'm afraid.

Hazardswan · 25/10/2018 23:06
