Westminstenders: Crisis. What Crisis

October is slowly rolling into November.

Your eyes, rightly, will be distracted by events the other side of the pond.

It won't be good and it won't be pretty and it will have an impact on what happens here in relation to Brexit in one way or another.

May seems to have headed off trouble makers for now. But that means nothing if she can't get a deal through parliament.

And if you think we are in anyway prepared for No Deal I'd like whatever drugs you are taking. That way lies only disorder and to put it bluntly, deaths.

We MUST find a deal, any deal to prevent that. Desperation is the final ingredients in this mess. Who will blink as they realise what's at stake?

The problem is though, is too few MPs have grasped what's at state, such is the quality of our elected representatives. And that's the truly terrifying bit.

If they can't work out the risk of no deal, they certainly not equipped to handle the fall out of no deal.

If you want to shit yourself anymore, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that the minister responsible for hauling all your food and medical supplies in the event if no deal, is Mr Christopher Grayling.

Start praying.

I can knit, sew and crochet and I will bring with me an enormous stash of yarn. I can also cook and I do all my own DIY. I'm rubbish at gardening though.

I am not a teacher but did spend a year in Germany teaching English and I reckon I could teach German and a bit of French if needed.

I volunteer to be librarian too and will bring all my books with me.

I like to think right now there are several high up people involved with the referendum who are sitting with churning stomachs, wondering what the investigation will throw up. I might have done a little jig around the living room.

DG afaik, The rest of the application process can be run on Apple, but not the passport verification step

Due to Apple Pay protectionism, noone can write the required kind of Apple App

  • to compete this step -
except Apple themselves.

The problem is that the Apple operating system IOS xx.xx only allows Apple Pay to use the phone's NFC (Near Field Communication) chip,
not the chips used by other Apps, whether from the Home Office or anywhere else

IOS doesn't give access to AIC (Application Programming Interface) for other chips.

I fixed the sink today -so reckon I could do some plumbing if that's any good. Ok with a drill and sewing machine too.

I'm a bit slow and only just twigged Banks was in this photo too. There's almost Mobutu levels of dodginess in there, isn't there?

Happy 25th Birthday to the EU ! 😍

< a shame most Westministenders are being dragged out of it by Brexit spivs after a rigged vote >

European Commission@EU_Commission
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the coming into force of the Treaty of Maastricht – a historic milestone that shaped Europe's role in a new age.
The Treaty established the European citizenship and closer cooperation in justice, police and foreign affairs.

We must all multitask, so I've a 2nd string to my bow:

I'm a gym rat
So, as well as resident scientist, I can be the keep fit instructor leading all the Westministenders in their morning pressups, burpees and squats

Stand up straight there, chest out, gut in
Step out with your left foot .... your other left, please !

Quietrebel · 01/11/2018 14:39

I'm a good cook, and speak French, German, Spanish and have a degree in English lit. I volunteer to join the school 😊.
I'm also pretty good with smaller kids so can do some childminding. I'm useless with my hands though so diy, sowing etc are not my forte...

Quietrebel · 01/11/2018 14:44

I meant sewing. Although I'm a useless gardener too...

ElenadeClermont · 01/11/2018 14:45

Wow! This will be the best ever community.

Hazardswan · 01/11/2018 14:48

a little jig

In light of today's news of a referral for criminal investigation and to honour the birth of Westminster MN villiage I may have done some interpretative dancing in the kitchen Grin

burpees

I take it that's not a sporty way of saying belching? Thought not...

There are some brilliant skills on this thread. If you have kids, make sure you show 'em what you've got.
My dad taught me to cook, sew and use tools (badly - me not him). He also taught me to garden.
Most of all he taught me to try and work out how stuff is done and, if I could, do it myself.
Brexiteers argue that Remainers are a bunch of quinoa eating snowflakes when recent posts show we clearly aren't. The difference appears to be that we are in no tearing hurry to drag the UK back to some kind of "Dig for Victory " fantasy.

BCF - I'm well aware of have Apples hardware is sewn up. It's the reason that generally Apple kit "just works", whereas the Android market is a mess.

But HMG vs. Apple ending in a loss for HMG isn't really a great look.

Wrong again ? BBC lead story on "financial services deal" with the EU

Michel Barnierr@MichelBarnier*

Misleading press articles today on #Brexit & financial services.

Reminder: EU may grant and withdraw equivalence in some financial services autonomously.
As with other 3rd countries, EU ready to have close regulatory dialogue with UK in full respect for autonomy of both parties.

Brexit: Downing Street dismisses claims Theresa May has struck deal with EU on financial services

Just in case we needed confirmation to never believe what we are told...

MyBrexitIsIll · 01/11/2018 15:42

I’m starting to think this is deliberate strategy from the governments so that no one knows what’s going on....

plaidlife · 01/11/2018 15:46

My parents taught me how to skin a large animal, wash out its innards, remove the coagulant from the blood so you could make blood pudding, catch and process fish and kill and prepare fowl.
I have always considered all of the above to be completely worthless in the modern day and age but maybe they were right all along!

BigChocFrenzy · 01/11/2018 15:47

The pound rises with every fake good news story about a deal, then falls back again.

I wonder if there will ever be an investigation into who is earning zillions over this from hedging

plaidlife · 01/11/2018 15:48

bellinisurge maybe because we can do this stuff we realize what hard work it is and the benefits of not having to do it.

bellinisurge · 01/11/2018 15:51

Absolutely @plaidlife

MyBrexitIsIll · 01/11/2018 15:53

BCF yes that’s a good point about the pound too.
I doubt we will ever have an investigation about that though.

DGRossetti · 01/11/2018 16:06

Seems BT have it licked, so we can lower the anxiety a bit.

www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/01/bt_were_stocking_warehouses_with_kit_ahead_of_brexit_to_avoid_shortages/

BT has got Brexit licked, it told the stock market today – the former state telco said it has modelled for the worst outcome and is stockpiling products in case the UK exits with no trade deal in place and supply chains falter.

(contd)

bellinisurge · 01/11/2018 16:32

But they aren't going to falter. We're just going to pop on over to WTO terms and everyone will make brilliant deals with us. There's not going to be a supply chain problem that's just Project Fear. And anyway, it's all the EU's fault.

Just playing the role of a Leave poster to keep you all awake.

DGRossetti · 01/11/2018 16:36

Just playing the role of a Leave poster to keep you all awake.

Your punctuation gave you away.

^Confirmation today from multiple US sources via our US colleagues that Nigel #Farage upgraded by FBI from 'Person of Interest' in Multiple Data Crimes to 'Actively being Investigated'.
Likely to be asked to schedule an interview on his next visit^

'brexit' is a crime scene.

Officially.
