The DUP are playing silly buggers.
The EU are getting nervous and turning down the pressure.
The ERG still want Schroedingers Brexit.
The Budget is coming. So is a government defeat or climb down.
The M26 is closing.

Keep thinking of the glorious freedom your blue passport will give up whilst you search waste tips.

I apologise if this has already been mentioned but when is it too late for a decent deal?
Basically when will we know if we're heading for a no-deal abyss?
Or is it being dragged out while emergency no-deal measures are put in place, then they'll tell us.

Can you tell I can't keep up at the moment.

woman11017 · 16/10/2018 17:38

when is it too late for a decent deal
About 2.5 years ago.
We are heading for a crash out now.

MyBrexitGoesOnHoliday · 16/10/2018 17:50

megle as far as I undertood it (but I might be wrong!!), the official deadline was the october (at the summit that TM just just been uninvited).
The new ‘deadline’ is November with some (british) politicians talking up to December.

I think that December is the very last minute as any agreement has to be ratified by the European Parliament and ther will be very little time left.

So for me, no agreement by December means No Deal.
I’m sure that the EU will tell us any way as THEY will put things in place for that.

MyBrexitGoesOnHoliday · 16/10/2018 17:51

I agree though that we destroyed the possibility of a decent deal right at the point when the triggered the A50.

megletthesecond · 16/10/2018 17:58

Thanks mybrexit 👍.

And 😫 woman. You're spot on there.

Banamara · 16/10/2018 18:00

If only A50 was being invoked around now. There would have been two years to realise the shit storm this is, and another two years to try and fix it!

A50 was invoked far too quickly. It's as if it was a battle cry from May to show how determined and committed she was to Brexit. With no plan or anything behind it mind.

Brexit is being pushed through for the good of the Tories, nothing else. Forget about the vote for a minute and think why May is treading on eggshells around her Cabinet and MPs in the Commons. Whilst those most affected are just baffled and scared at this stage.

Who is representing the good of the UK as a whole here? It is now a Disunited Kingdom, or soon will be as far as I can see.

For what?

Peregrina · 16/10/2018 18:08

Forget about the vote for a minute and think why May is treading on eggshells around her Cabinet and MPs in the Commons.

But the interesting thing is that they are all busily backing off resignations, or trying to bring her down, just yet. I wonder why?

10degreestostarboard · 16/10/2018 18:11

Banamana

Yes that’s right, for the god of 17 million - presumably - tories

And there was me thinking the labour manifesto also committed us to leaving...

But apparently not - it’s all the evil tories fault

Echo chamber is right.

Peregrina · 16/10/2018 18:14

10 degrees - have you forgotten that the Tory Manifesto of 2015 had a commitment to the Single Market?

woman11017 · 16/10/2018 18:14

What is that lemon drizzle cake recipe MrsR? link will do. Wink

BigChocFrenzy · 16/10/2018 18:16

The UK wants control of its external borders ==> Patriotic Brexiter cheers

The EU wants control of its external borders ==> Oh the horror, the EU are causing a no deal !

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 16/10/2018 18:19

For what?
Other than for the Tories? Not a lot else.

Banamara · 16/10/2018 18:20

Peregrina,

The Cabinet, most MPs and the ERG are cowards.

I doubt any of them would be in favour of taking over or mounting a challenge to May right now.

Holding fire for the moment I'm guessing until it all falls down and the cursed EU can be blamed ad infinitum.

A no deal is just too horrific to contemplate, and everyone knows this by now.

Labour has stated 6 conditions for a deal, one of which is for the UK to retain all the benefits of the EU

That means EEA/EFTA, with a lot of ++++ , even if they haven't spelled it out yet - they don't have to, as they are not in govt

BigChocFrenzy · 16/10/2018 18:22

Sir Humphrey in "Yes Prime Minister" sums it up:

"Prime Minister, if you have to do this damn stupid thing, please don't do it in this damn stupid way !"

woman11017 · 16/10/2018 18:23

Thanks MrsR Smile Yum.

Ds was given "homework" in one of his PIR lectures (1st year at Aberdeen Uni) of watching one of the Yes (Prime) Minister episodes. He sent dh a copy of the slide - we haven't checked which episode the link leads to yet Grin

Thomasinaa · 16/10/2018 18:27

Corbyn's famous "a customs union" but not "the customs union". I agree that he wants a hard Brexit as much as the Brexiters do.

Thomasinaa · 16/10/2018 18:30

Things have to get very very bad. Boris will then pretend to be Churchill. But he has none of the positive attributes. Just overweight, floppy hair, posh background.

Thomasinaa · 16/10/2018 18:31

Did Churchill have floppy hair though?

woman11017 · 16/10/2018 18:38

megletthesecond sorry it's not better news.
At a couple of forks in the road, it looked like the 'process' and the country was salvagable, but that's not what the funders of it ordered.
Major's on fine form here:
