The DUP are playing silly buggers.
The EU are getting nervous and turning down the pressure.
The ERG still want Schroedingers Brexit.
The Budget is coming. So is a government defeat or climb down.
The M26 is closing.

Keep thinking of the glorious freedom your blue passport will give up whilst you search waste tips.

Thanks, red Thanks

My passport runs until mid-2027, so I'm hoping the worst will be over before then
We might have done an emergency rejoin, after a couple of years scavenging waste dumps Smile

ken - and anyone else feeling too stressed -
You could chill with my AIBU thread - it's about choosing your emotional support animal for a flight:

Ta red

Holding out for a miracle of common sense.

Der Spiegel says if no deal by November, then the special November summit should remain ... to be used to finalise EU planning for no deal

woman re the detained migrants:

The UK is the only country in Europe to detain people without a time limit.
< another unique Uk feature to preserve Hmm >

Esther Webber @estwebber
Brexit Minister Robin Walker says just 53 out of a possible 800-1,000 statutory instruments relating to Brexit have been laid so far
Charles Walker, chair of the procedure cttee, says we face the prospect of needing to get through 800 SIs in the next six months and DExEU seems to have a "relaxed demeanour which is somewhat misplaced"
Brexit Minister Robin Walker points to Parliament's ability to get through large volumes of SIs, but Charles Walker says Brexit SIs are of a different nature
Peter Bone says, setting aside scrutiny, there aren't even enough people to get all the Brexit SIs drafted properly

Quite Shouty Woman @ smokeythebandit
Parliament 'gets through' large volumes of SIs with very minimal scrutiny indeed. The main scrutiny of these instruments is done beforehand by a small group of specialist lawyers within Parliament. Unless a recruitment drive has quadrupled their numbers, it's a huge ask.

Road Haulage Association at Brexit committee today confirm my story from March - a number of organisations obliged to sign non disclosure agreements before discussions re: Brexit border with Government -not impressed with what they have been told, but blocked from talking details

Here’s the Sky News #brexitforensics story from March: RHA conforming they signed that the customs system they were shown “won’t work” Government “not listening” t.co/fvQaVHa01K

no doubt in my mind from multiple sources that important industrial and logistics providers feel gagged by these NDAs in telling the public the reality/ correcting erroneous optimistic political claims re Brexit border preparedness.

Cant think of a precedent.

Government said in response to our story that this was standard industry practice, industry said that would be the case for government contractors, but they aren’t, they’re industry bodies consulting on hugely important political decisions, blocked from saying what they think

Thanks Red

I’ve only managed to skim read Wednesday’s thread posts due to Real-Non-Brexit-Related-Life throwing us a very unwelcome curved ball but I have to ask something - admittedly a minor point amongst all the horror - but DG, I’m perplexed:

The colleagues I referred to all had very well thought out and cogent reasons for wanting the UK to leave the EU. Mainly around direction of travel and the fact that while the EU is wonderful for the countries in the EU, it's not quite as glorious for the neighbouring countries which aren't.

So, they voted to become one of those neighbouring countries for whom life is not so glorious? Well thought out? Confused

"Schroedingers Brexit. " - that is the best description of it I have heard. Excellent.

I don't know how relevant this is as understandably many Leave and Remain voters of all political shades seem to have gradually evolved or been eroded to apathy, resignation and despair.

But ! Did anyone most the YouGov result that 45% of the public said they didn’t know what Vince Cable’s preference on Brexit would be including. 28%. of. Lib. Dem voters?

hurricanefloss · 11/10/2018 07:32

The RHA and the NDAs - can't they just leak the info like every other bugger does?

International press with that dog protest.
Wonder what they have up their sleeves.

Perhaps some CEOs could break ranks together and tell the truth. They can't all be punished or imprisoned!

KennDodd · 11/10/2018 07:55

If the RHA and others with confidentiality agreements with govenment, well, what would happen if they just got together, called a press conference, and broke them saying it's in the public interest information is shared? What consequences would they face?

BadderWolf · 11/10/2018 07:56

Hello. Are we having fun yet? 😱

Peregrina · 11/10/2018 07:59

I don't necessarily think that Boris Johnson would implement leaving the EU. He would implement the best course of action for Boris Johnson.

KennDodd · 11/10/2018 07:59

These confidentiality agreements sound a bit like the ones Harvey Weinstein got his assault victims to sign.

MyBrexitGoesOnHoliday · 11/10/2018 08:00

Thanks red

woman the issue of how refugees and non EU immigrants are treated is the reason why I fear a no deal Brexit so much.
And why I do not envisage staying in the uk long term.
The story about the polish guy who is refused benefits despite living in the U.K. for 14 years isn’t an isolated case. they don’t make the headlines (but you would hear about such cases of you follow FB groups of EU citizens :().

I have to say im not fearing a repeat of the windrush scandal for eu citizens. I KNOW there will be a repeat. It’s just when it will happen that is the question
Fwiw there has already been comments from the landlord association saying that the fact EU citizens w the settled status won’t have any paper documents will cause massive problems. It won’t just be finding rental accommodation. It will be benefits, having a job etc... that will be put in jeopardy because it will be reliant on a government database (which we all know are ever so reliable)
