Scared by the prepping threads?

Should we be scared?

Do you have reassurance to offer?

Heinz or Branston?

Thank Gawd for that, although you realise that plays right into the fanatic's conspiracy theory that MN is in on it too! don't you?! Grin

No, I don’t think you understand. A private GP will not prescribe me controlled narcotics on the basis of one appointment, it would appear that I’m doubling up on my prescription. If it were that easy to get narcotics, lots of drug addicts would do it. It isn’t.

I’d rather not say exactly what it is, but it’s not something like standard oramorph that’s readily available in most pharmacies. It’s manufactured by a German company and while there’s a U.K. distributor they don’t manufacture it here.

I’ll be speaking to my GP about it in a few weeks and I’m hoping they will either at least give me two months supply as a one off nearer the time, to avoid me unnecessarily blocking a hospital bed. If not, I will ask them to provide a letter for the pharmacist to say I will be on this indefinitely so there’s no risk if they order a few months in advance.

If that doesn’t work I absolutely will contact my MP.

Thank you for explaining, @SinkGirl .

Could we set up a drug exchange? I recently got taken of Amatriptaline and 20mg Butrans so have a bit kicking about. Anyone got any Venlafaxine or Mirtazapine they want to trade?

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 30/07/2018 13:58

I have shitloads of sevredol. If I'm gonna break the law and trade it, might as well go all out and trade it for weed Grin
(Joking!!)

I expect that’s exactly the sort of thing that will end up happening, but obviously it’s very high risk. I’m in groups where diabetes supplies (test strips etc) are exchanged as ketone strips are insanely insanely expensive and my son needs them but the CCG is blocking it due to funding.

A shop near us is closing this week. I went in to see if I could find any good last minute clearance stuff, but it must have been raided by the hordes, already... :( I did get discounted allergy meds and nasal sprays, though. adds to stockpile

Glaciferous · 30/07/2018 16:02

Are you narcoleptic, @SinkGirl?

SinkGirl · 30/07/2018 16:51

No, fortunately not - that must be really hard to manage. It’s literally just extremely strong pain relief in an unusual formulation, after having tried every single medication and form of pain relief for my condition over the last nearly 20 years. I’ve been on this particular medication for a decade, without ever abusing it in anyway, so I hope that will count in my favour, but I’ve only been with my current practice for two years and it takes several years to build up trust that you’re a legitimate patient and not a drug seeker.

Just had a thought - what will happen to the restaurants if they can't source fresh food?

bellinisurge · 30/07/2018 18:13

I assume restaurant menu s will be a bit more limited for a short while or more expensive. Or both. And for longer.

Heatherjayne1972 · 30/07/2018 18:18

@ vanillasugar
Restaurants and any other food establishment will close

Glaciferous · 30/07/2018 18:27

I just wondered! My aunt is on a controlled drug for narcolepsy and I am worried about her if there are delays. Not having it won't kill her but it will make everyday life very difficult.
