Scared by the prepping threads?

Should we be scared?

Do you have reassurance to offer?

Heinz or Branston?

Haven’t you people watched WALL-E? What we need to stockpile is Twinkies.

rainbowsandsmiles · 29/07/2018 23:21

No, don't keep pigs, sounds like a plan though if you have the room. Barely room to keep a rabbit in our back garden.Grin I was more in the looting mindset and thinking about going after any other piggies out there I came across. Well hey, it seems anything goes in the new lawless state, worth a try.

KennDodd · 29/07/2018 23:21

Why would the EU (minus uk) have to stockpile?

I don't know about stockpiling but industries in the EU that need components from the UK have been advised by their governments to seek alternatives.

seventhgonickname · 29/07/2018 23:22

If the power supplies hold my freezer is full.
If we have no power or meds then the menopausal heatwave will keep me going.
Oh,and Heinz please but will do supermarket own brands with baked potato.

What advice and support have the government given to those companies who have lost trade as a result?

AbsentmindedWoman - The sausages were a bit like how they come out of a slow cooker if you don't brown them before putting them in.
(That will either explain it completely or confuse you further)

rainbowsandsmiles · 29/07/2018 23:25

Lindalee -have you counted your beans tho?! What if you don't have enough?! Get some more in just in case. I at least hope you've got some tinned potatoes in there too. Go well with a good tinned pie.

AbsentmindedWoman · 29/07/2018 23:25

Aintnothingbutheartache thank you for the description Grin

keyboardkate · 29/07/2018 23:26

Ken,

I always ask why this has to happen.

Must be arrogance, and hubris. Fine if the general population is protected, but there are no guarantees.

AbsentmindedWoman · 29/07/2018 23:26

ForeverBubblegum and for yours! Yeah that makes sense.

lindalee3 · 29/07/2018 23:27

The EU don’t need to stockpile. There’s very little they get from here that they can’t get from another EU country. As the EU special designation will go (e.g. Cornish pasties can only be made in Cornwall) they can even start making their own versions.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 29/07/2018 23:31

Fray Bentos

hellololly · 29/07/2018 23:33

I live very near to a biscuit factory so if all goes to shit I'll be heading over to raid it.

KennDodd · 29/07/2018 23:33

What advice and support have the government given to those companies who have lost trade as a result?

I seem to remember they said 'fuck business' I think that was just the brexiteer view though.

keyboardkate · 29/07/2018 23:34

OK,

What do you all think will happen now, cut to the chase and be honest now.

How do you think leaving will affect yourself and your family.

TBH in this day and age outside a war situation, advocating a stockpile is making Brexit a total joke really isn't it?

If it were so good there would be no talk of this would there?

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 29/07/2018 23:40

To be fair keyboard I’m not entirely sure it will effect me and my family too directly.
We have a good income, but I think the economy is going to take a huge bashing.
The knock on effect of that remains to be seen. Unfortunately we aren’t going to see the full impact of leaving until we’ve actually left.
It appears all will be ok in the long run, long run being when our kids and grandchildren are dealing with it all

colouringinagain · 29/07/2018 23:40

I'm really concerned about the medical side of things. Someone in my family Needs daily medication.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 29/07/2018 23:41

colouring has a very valid point there

rainbowsandsmiles · 29/07/2018 23:44

Jealous of those living near to biscuit factories. I can go raid a pickled one. I'll swap a couple of jars of gherkins or sandwich pickle for some biscuits? Bit of swapsies.

PestymcPestFace · 29/07/2018 23:45

Cheese factory here, beginning to sound like a picnic.

keyboardkate · 29/07/2018 23:46

aint nothing.

It will affect everyone, if there is a crash out/ no deal.. I don't think you will be cushioned either, because the effect on the economy filters down really.

I hope you don't think bad of me for saying that, but reality can bite!

rainbowsandsmiles · 29/07/2018 23:47

Cheese, pickles, biscuits - excellent!

UpstartCrow · 29/07/2018 23:48

I'm stockpiling can openers. I'm going to sell them on the black market from pockets in my big overcoat and be rich.

rainbowsandsmiles · 29/07/2018 23:51

Stockpiling tin openers is genius. (note to self to do same )
