The Brexit thread.

By Brexiters, for Brexiters.

Remainers welcome, but gobshites & goadyfuckers are encouraged to take their business elsewhere.

Howabout it is the responsibility of our elected Govt to identify the points of concern, analyse them, reach workable conclusions, engage with the detail and practicalities so that we do not end up, under their watch ,with a 'wide array of unintended bads'.

You may choose to not engage with what you describe as remainer hubris, the Govt has a duty to work on behalf of the whole nation, including those raising difficult and challenging points.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 09/03/2018 14:23

forriners and imiagrunts

Still baffled as to why the remainers on these threads repeatedly use these spellings.

I did ask on the previous thread, but no explanation was forthcoming.

Respectfully asking again if anyone can explain it to me.

OliviaD68 · 09/03/2018 14:23

@surferjet

If we don't accept their rules there is no deal and we fall off a cliff. Literally.

Planes stop flying. You know the story by now.

We NEED the EU to help us get out.

Is this not clear?

JWIM · 09/03/2018 14:25

I can't, but it doesn't bother me, any more than the odd spellings used for 'remainer' eg 'remoaner'.

OliviaD68 · 09/03/2018 14:26

@FaithHopeCharityDesperation

Happy to oblige. It's because the main reason for Leaving appears to be driven by immigration concerns. It is a base and ignorant sentiment.

It is therefore fitting that one would apply misspellings of foreigners and immigrants to remind how base and ignorant the motivation is.

howabout · 09/03/2018 14:27

That's exactly my point Talkin. If despite all the shouting I am unconvinced of the intractability of the problem, I am unlikely to be the one with a solution. Otoh if you are so convinced of the need for a creative solution then you are far more likely to be able to think of one.

The UK and the EU have both been very clear for months now that staying in the SM / CU are not on the table.

JWIM · 09/03/2018 14:29

It is our Govt that has made statements about not staying in the SM/CU to the EU. The EU has just asked the UK how that will work on the island of Ireland.

OliviaD68 · 09/03/2018 14:29

@howabout

No. That's not right.

Remainers have long been stating the intractability of the NI border problem. It has been Leavers who have claimed it is possible to solve.

It's your problem to resolve therefore. So tell us how to fix it.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 09/03/2018 14:30

So are you of the belief that the posters on these threads who support/voted for brexit are base & ignorant?

Regardless, why is being concerned about immigration, and wanting controls on immigration a 'base & ignorant' sentiment?

JWIM · 09/03/2018 14:30

And Howabout I do think Mrs May last Friday acknowledged the intractability of the problem vis a vis the border.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 09/03/2018 14:31

*@howabout

No. That's not right. *

It's exactly right actually.

Did you read the post properly?

Snowmagedon · 09/03/2018 14:34

Ooh no! Never possible to leave the eu! Noo don't want say that Shock.
Your implying we have been joined up to political union with no choice

OliviaD68 · 09/03/2018 14:34

@FaithHopeCharityDesperation

I am of the opinion that based on polls the majority of Leave voters believe immigration is a problem and have used this as the reason to support Brexit.

I believe the sentiment is base and ignorant because immigration is not an actual problem in this country even if perception of some is different. In some case it stems from a racist and xenophobic sentiment.

Facts show immigration has been net beneficial to the UK economy. BOE analysis for example.

OliviaD68 · 09/03/2018 14:35

@FaithHopeCharityDesperation

What's the solution then? Go on.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 09/03/2018 14:36

Fine.

But that doesn't answer my two questions, sadly.

Not to worry!

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 09/03/2018 14:37

What's the solution then? Go on.

Confused as to why this stems from howabouts post, and my pointing out that you misinterpreted it.

This has been withdrawn by MNHQ on behalf of the poster.

JWIM · 09/03/2018 14:41

Faith would you perhaps answer my question about why you think the UK Govt is making a bit of a hash of the negotiations with the EU?

Snowmagedon · 09/03/2018 14:42

If wanting immigration controls is base and ignorant I take it the poster who claims this is part of open borders crowd.. They don't want any borders or controls the world over. At least in some respects that's fair.

gussyfinknottle · 09/03/2018 14:45

So, no. Leavers don't have an answer to NI problem. But anyone who voted Remain is a meanie.
Great.

OliviaD68 · 09/03/2018 14:47

@FaithHopeCharityDesperation

Let's not look at squirrels and let's instead answer questions relating to Brexit shall we? You are an artist at changing the subject so as
Not to answer questions.

Questions and associated answers are:

  1. Q: why use terms like "forriners" and "imiagrunts"?

A:Because the main motivation to leave is racist and xenophobic and one needs to be reminded of that.

  1. Q: what wrong with being concerned about immigration?

A: because it's not actually problematic in this country. It's has helped pretty much all around.

  1. Q: what are the solutions Irish border given UKGOV red lines?

A: I believe none. It is an intractable problem. Some Leavers believe otherwise. Let's hear the solutions.

howabout · 09/03/2018 14:47

I am actually struggling to understand what was unacceptable about the UK's proposed solution to the Border as outlined last Friday, especially when coupled with EU's proposals on zero tariffs? Non-tariff barriers can surely be dealt with at point of sale in importing country?

OliviaD68 · 09/03/2018 14:48

@Snowmagedon

We have borders. And sensible policies we could apply. We have chosen not to apply them.

Why not?

DGRossetti · 09/03/2018 14:49

If wanting immigration controls is base and ignorant I take it the poster who claims this is part of open borders crowd.. They don't want any borders or controls the world over. At least in some respects that's fair.

Ah, the old if you're not with us you're against us debating trick.

"You must think the EU is perfect, as you voted Remain"

and so on.

No cite, of course, where any remainer has said any such thing.

Googles going to be working hard today ...

OliviaD68 · 09/03/2018 14:49

@howabout Which solution? Pls describe it. I missed that I think.
