The Brexit thread.

By Brexiters, for Brexiters.

Remainers welcome, but gobshites & goadyfuckers are encouraged to take their business elsewhere.

Irrelevant, as the electoral commission has no powers to declare the vote invalid or call another one,
basically, if your pockets are deep enough, you can do whatever you like.

May as well complain about the weather.

LondonMum8 · 26/03/2018 13:23

Relevant since it's adding to the gigantic pile of evidence that Leavers talk out of their bottoms.

Do you think that people have become inured to the fact that politicians in this country are self serving , dishonest and rarely held to account ?The Prime Minister can stand in the HOC and blatantly tell a lie and get away with it , for goodness sake Sad

LondonMum8 · 27/03/2018 08:05

Definitely. With the kind of scumbags currently in the government, it's clear that the bar is very low. All someone like BJ needs to do is keep mumbling the lies some people want to hear. This clearly isn't a healthy democracy anymore.

frumpety · 27/03/2018 08:52

This sort of sums it up for me Sad

gussyfinknottle · 27/03/2018 09:13

@frumpety , you just made my morning with that post. Thank you.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 27/03/2018 09:25

Love that song Frumpety ❤️

Brexit aside, there are likely many, many areas where I'm stuck in the middle with you tbh.

frumpety · 27/03/2018 09:32

Faith what do you think about proportional representation ? It appears to work as well, if not better than our current FPTP system and does seem a way of getting all the 'stuck in the middle with you' opinions heard or represented ?

I would campaign for it now , except the current extremes in the political landscape worry me a great deal.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 27/03/2018 09:51

I used to think it was a good idea - now, not so much.

Looking across Europe, the rise of the extremes has been made possible by PR, and the horse trading that goes on behind the scenes to put together a govt is not something I'm comfortable with.

The Lib Dem coalition & the recent DUP deal have solidified my dislike of what PR could lead to - small parties being king maker & holding disproportionate sway - when most voters are pretty much in the centre with slightly right/left tendencies.

I do think that there is a huge gap in the market for a sensible centrist party - a mix of right & left pragmatism.
Sadly, the Lib Dems are a useless lot at the mo & they are hugely out of touch with the majority of ordinary people.

LondonMum8 · 27/03/2018 13:13

Not a peep about the Wylie CA hearings on the Beeb, the Torygraph or obviously the Heil. We are heading towards a totalitarian regime.

surferjet · 27/03/2018 13:30

Give up LondonMum8 - no ones interested in your rants on this thread.
Have you ever been on The Westminster threads? Lots of remainers moaning away together - you’ll love it.
Actually you probably won’t. There’s no levers on there for you to argue with.
Stay here and carry on muttering away to yourself in the corner. Grin

LondonMum8 · 27/03/2018 13:37

Hey @surferjet the bully is back, clearly taken aback by the recent posts. You can buzz off, so to speak, if you are not happy.

This is pretty amazing:

"Alexander Nix presents: how to brainwash a Brexiter clean in an OCEAN of fake news"

LondonMum8 · 27/03/2018 14:44

"If we wanted to we could resolve this data to individual level where we have 4-5 thousand data points on EVERY individual in the country"

This is an eye opener even for me. An invasion of privacy on a completely unprecedented and clearly Orwellian level.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 27/03/2018 15:14

Unprecedented if still living in a pre-internet age.
Which we're not.

Only the spectacularly naive think that the internet is a 'safe space'.

frumpety · 27/03/2018 15:16

That clip is fascinating London , I wonder if everyone else is now trying to work out where they score on OCEAN ?

LondonMum8 · 27/03/2018 15:25

@FaithHopeCharityDesperation I can see why you would try to explain this away for sanity's sake.

Unprecedented for a number of reasons which should be apparent (misuse of FB day, catastrophic data protection failure, unethical techniques used in order to obtain data and minor). Those guys basically hacked and invalidated democracy.

frumpety · 27/03/2018 15:25

Also can anyone else imagine how this sort of use of data could actually be used for good purposes ? I am thinking along the lines of health promotion. A more targeted approach, based on personality, as opposed to blanket campaigns?

LondonMum8 · 27/03/2018 15:27

@frumpety

Yep, and trick is that they don't even need you to take the test to know your score with a fair degree of accuracy.

LondonMum8 · 27/03/2018 15:29

Apologies for a bunch of typos earlier. No time.

surferjet · 27/03/2018 15:46

Motheroffourdragons
I’ll give those threads a miss thank you.
Talking to the sub branch of the flat earth society doesn’t do much for me.

LondonMum8 · 27/03/2018 15:52

@surferjet What society are you a part of? Flat PFC society by any chance?
