Westministenders: Strong and Stable Theresa Date with Destiny

WELLLLL

Its just before 2.00am.

So far its the YouGov model all the way. Still a long way to go but, the Cons are not getting the top of their target list and Labour are doing very well in seats they just 'shouldn't be'.

Corbyn is now favourite to take the poison chalice of Brexit, but they may not be the largest party yet.

This is looking right now like 1974 not 1983.

May's potted regardless. I look forward to her resignation speech. Its still entirely possible that our next government is a Tory Minority under another leader.

The LDs are having a rough night so far. They are loosing deposits all over the place as they are squeezed out. But they still might hold the balance of power yet. Though they are pledged not to go into coalition.

Another election in the autumn? Brexit delayed and going soft and squishy?

SF have apparently re-affirmed this evening that as they ran on a ticket of abstention, so they do not intend to take their seats in Westminster in this parliament either.

But I agree, they might need to look closely at this policy now that their numbers are tipping towards making a real difference

prettybird · 09/06/2017 04:36

I'd been saying for a while that Ruth Davidson would end up being parachuted into an English constituency in preparation for her taking a run at the leadership.

She can't go for a Scottish constituency because of EVEL.

you're welcome to her Wink

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 04:36

Knives are openly out now.

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2017 04:38

Anna Soubry has survived after all...

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 04:38

Unfortunately, I don't think she's stupid enough to go for it pretty.

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 04:41

And she's putting the boot in now Red

TheElementsSong · 09/06/2017 04:41

Just woke up after a 4 hour "nap". It's bittersweet for us. Glad the Tories are genuinely doing terribly (didn't quite dare to believe the exit poll), but lost our LibDem MP by an enormous swing.

Badders123 · 09/06/2017 04:41

May gone to CCO....working on a speech?

whatwouldrondo · 09/06/2017 04:41

Anna Soubrey not holding back in criticising the Tory Campaign and May's responsibility. Pitching herself as the leader? champion of the single market. She looked completely exhausted, hardly any voice left, obviously a tough battle to keep her seat.

On the BBC, Anna Soubry is giving Theresa May absolute hell #GE2017

7 SF, 10 DUP, 1 Ind. Final NI results.

Alliance, UUP and SDLP big losers. Opinion obviously hardening.

Tory source on May bus tour: "It was a bus of failure. Every-fucking-where we went we lost."

The curse of the remain bus..

IDS wittering on the Beeb. But he makes a good point about not talking to the media until there is a clear plan in place

BestIsWest · 09/06/2017 04:48

So EVEL...Labour, Lib Dem, Green outnumber Con in England? Do they?

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 04:49

It's all a Tory plot to put off Brexit negotiations as long as possible.

Theresa resigns today, triggering leadership elections - no restart in ten days

New leader has no mandate, we need another GE.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

whatwouldrondo · 09/06/2017 04:50

Chuka Smile

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 04:50

Someone should tell IDS that just repeating the word stability over and over again doesn't work.

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 04:52

Come on Chuka, say something nice about Jezza.

There, that wasn't so bad now was it.

Hilarious.

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2017 04:53

Tom Wright @ Tomwright08
650 seats in Commons. Sinn Fein (projected to win 7 seats) will abstain. Meaning a majority is 322, not 326. BBC projections: Tory+DUP =328
Coalition of 328 is not a governing majority. Moderates and hard Brexiteers will rebel on crucial votes. New PM likely. 2/n
Brexit now in real trouble. At minimum, second referendum very possible. Negotiations a total nightmare for UK 3/n
Best case scenario for Corbyn. He "wins" without responsibility for governing, which he is completely unprepared for 4/5
Corbyn/ Labour would face nightmare on Brexit negotiations, economy, & foreign policy. He may well be breathing a sigh of relief. 5/5

Another general AND 2nd ref?!
