I was thinking about how I could sum up the general election campaign and well. This said it all.

Please stay here: it's one of the few places on MN that I'll discuss politics. I've even recommended the "Westministenders" threads to others as a "safe" place with lots of reasoned and well argued discussions - including from Leavers like Howabout Smile - and interesting links Smile

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 21:42

I am having to do some sewing to calm my nerves. Will probably go to bed after exit polls unless they are really exciting. Will probably check on and off through the night though.

CivQueen · 08/06/2017 21:44

I almost don't want the exit polls to come out yet.

Let me dream a little longer....

On the other hand I want to see them NOW! Grin

Tory sources say Croydon Central - which Gavin Barwell holds with a majority of just 165 - is on a "knife edge".

Seat predictions on this:
YouGov - Lean Labour
Ashcroft - 66% Con win
Hanretty - Cons 46% Lab 40%

On a knife edge seems about where it should be.

I feel like crying

squoosh · 08/06/2017 21:47

Me too Civ. I want them to show me their goodies right now. But at the same time if I don't like the goodies they offer me they can clear off! 😄 🍷

CivQueen · 08/06/2017 21:48

I peeped over dh's shoulder at his Facebook (mine went the way of the dodo some time ago)

I've gently suggested he comes away. He's trying to argue with a cousin that's ranting about all labour voters being cunts, because Corbyn didn't sing the national anthem...

Tories also hopeful of unseating Labour's Clive Efford in Eltham, with much depending on which way the 6,500 Kippers from 2015 jump.

Seat predictions on this:
YouGov - Likely Labour
Ashcroft - Labour win 54%
Hanretty - 47% Con Lab 41%

Interesting....

If this helps raise a laugh, years of being a sahm and losing a lot of weight in the meantime means my smartish wardrobe isn't that up to scratch. On my way to the count now, dressed like this.

Well, if you need something to hold the centre ground 😂

I really don't want to know. I don't want the results to come through. I'm dreading the morning. All I'm hoping is that it isn't the Tory landslide but I really fear it will be.

explodingkittens · 08/06/2017 21:52

Am in the constituency next to Barwell's...praying Central turns red tonight.

Thanks for these threads, have been lurking for a while now and they are great.

whatwouldrondo · 08/06/2017 21:52

Just back from knocking on doors and had a really good last road where every single house had already voted for Vince. I have come to believe no point in worrying about what has not happened, and certainly no point in dwelling in misery, though i know it is easier said than done. Until it does I am enjoying while I can all the hopeful things I saw today, the turn out of young people, all the hope and good will. I took someone to the poll who was very frail and ill and it was humbling the effort they had made to cast their vote.

CivQueen · 08/06/2017 21:53

Bloody hell.

The countdown just started on channel 4.

My stomach just lurched!

Hearing turnout could be close to 70% - have the youths turned out for Corbyn? #GE2017

Tories now worried in Kensington...........

YouGov had it as toss up.

Hanretty - Con 55% Lab 33%
Ashcroft - Con win 80%

Eeeeeowwwfftz · 08/06/2017 21:59

I feel fucking awful.

PattyPenguin · 08/06/2017 21:59

I have the BBC election live feed up, and have just read the name of one of the journalists, "Dearbail" (which I presume comes from the Irish Dearbhail but somehow missing the mutation) as "Dearball".

Should I perhaps go to bed and deal with it all in the morning?

BestIsWest · 08/06/2017 21:59

Deeply scared. I hate this moment.

squoosh · 08/06/2017 21:59

70%. If true that would be way above average for a GE turnout wouldn't it?

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 22:00

I've had to put my sewing away as I can't stitch straight. Confused

RedToothBrush · 08/06/2017 22:00
