How can anyone defend TM right now?

And I ask that as a life long Tory voter

  • She repeatedly, categorically ruled out having a GE now, then completely u-turned
  • she is too spineless to participate in tv debates
  • she won't deny triple lock pensions will be scrapped
  • she won't deny the freeze on tax hikes will be scrapped
  • her 'red line' is immigration, which if you ask most Leavers, wasn't their 'red line'
  • she is hell bent on screwing the economy to prove a point
  • her Brexit team cannot answer even the most basic questions
  • she showed her petticoat to Trump and even he has said the EU will come first
  • she is operating under some kind of delusion that EU agencies can remain in what will be a non EU country.

Really, who in their right mind would vote for her?

Life long labour voters who are considering now voting Tory blow my mind.

Seriously, what was ever so bad about the EU that makes it worth all this?

wrong I'm not stereotyping Leavers except to the extent none of them actually seem to be questioning anything that is currently happening.

I know you repeatedly insist Leavers all voted for different reasons but that makes the current situation even more astounding- why aren't more people questioning the priority being immigration to the detriment of free trade for example.

This thread has shown people seem quite happy for TM to promise nothing and to continually talk in vague, abstract sound bites.

MLM is multi level marketing figment, essentially pyramid selling schemes which draw people in with promises of a bright and lucrative future but which provide very little evidence how this can be achieved and only the top level do well out of them.

May has the best policies. The left may not like that but let us see who is voted in in June.

Bearbehind · 30/04/2017 10:35

Do you know something we don't janet? What are her policies?

OP posts:
prettybird · 30/04/2017 10:42

I'm starting to wonder if Janet is a 5th columnist, tasked with discrediting TM with his/her blind adoration Grin

Who are these Nurses going to Food banks? Can we please hear from some? The average registered nurse's pay is over £23K! You need to be referred by a Doctor, Social services, citizens advice or other specific professional to get the vouchers.
Why would TM make any sort of comment?

Bearbehind · 30/04/2017 12:24

I don't know what nurses they are speaking of either corcory but the fact is TM isn't answering questions on anything

Maybe, just maybe, that is their entire household income. Maybe, just maybe, they have a massive mortgage/rental payments and enormous childcare costs. Maybe they can only work PT hours because of caring responsibilities. Maybe they've come out of a marital break-up with huge debts. Everyone's situation is different. Just because someone holds a responsible, salaried position doesn't mean they are 'well-off'.

On Radio 4 recently there was a programme about homelessness. It told the story of three people living in a hostel. One had the classic story of mental illness and alcoholism, the second had been had a successful marketing business with some prestigious clients and had been a mover and shaker in various national initiatives and NGOs. Then he got involved in a humanitarian mission of some kind in a war zone and the resulting PTSD wrecked his marriage and lost him his home. The third was a teacher (of several years so presumably higher up the pay scales) with two children whose marriage had broken down, she had rented but the Landlord had put the rent up to a level she could not afford, and she could not find anything in the private sector she could afford, she ended up in the hostel after running out of friend's sofas she could use. Both of the latter would never have expected to find themselves in a homeless hostel but both commented on the way the system makes it extremely hard for you with repeated bureaucratic obstacles, they felt stigmatised and treated as if they were less than human. The teacher was too embarrassed to own up to her colleagues what was happening to her.

So yes I can believe that there are Nurses too who have to use food banks. You have only to look at the street of our towns and cities to know that homelessness has become a big issue again. They had almost disappeared off the street of London but no longer.

John Crace on 'Kim-Jong May' [grin}

^What about the nurses? Marr asked. They were poorer than they had been for years and many of them were going to foodbanks.

“There are complex reasons why people go to foodbanks,” the Supreme Leader said tetchily. And what people had to remember was that many nurses were just plain greedy and chose to scrounge off foodbanks when they had spent all their money on super-sized meals at McDonald’s.

Sensing she might be straying slightly off message, Kim Jong-May returned to her default settings. Strong and stable leadership. Strong economy. Strength through being strong. Security through being secure^.

Anon1234567890 · 30/04/2017 16:28

How is she (TM) demonstrating her 'strength'?

By sucking-up to questionable presidents? having a cordial relationship with the leader of the most powerful country in the world.

By talking in cliches speaking in words normal people understand.

By constantly talking about a plan, whilst not having a plan? not divulging her plans prior to negotiations.

By making stupid appointments (Fox, Davis, BJ etc)? making clever appointments

By refusing to debate with other party leaders refusing to give JC the credibility of her presence.

By only being able to parrot Lynton Crosby listening to her advisers.

If that's 'strong', god has helped us all.

Peregrina · 30/04/2017 16:44

I hardly think that appointing a foreign secretary who talks about 'picaninnies' and 'water-melon smiles' is a clever appointment. Especially if they are from countries we now want to trade with.

Anon1234567890 · 30/04/2017 16:50

a lot of people will be thinking she hasn't got the courage of her convictions/can't think on her feet etc.,
Why does a PM have to think on her feet? One of TMs strengths is that she is thoughtful and measured.

There's not a single comment with any substance above
Bear there isn't a singe comment with any substance in your OP. My comments are my (and many people I know) opinions and I do think they have substance, you just dont like them.

operating under the illusion the EU need us more than we need them which is categorically untrue I guess we have to agree to disagree. I think we need each other equally and will both be fine even if we cant come to a mutually agreed deal.

Why are you happy to be brainwashed by this bollocks?
The funny thing is I think you are spouting brainwashed bollocks.

why TM isn't prepared to go head to head in live tv?
I have answered this several times, I see no up side to her giving JC the credibility of her presence.

Our stance, essentially, being that Brexit is going to be all things to all men entirely cost-free, completely beneficial, and overall "better" than being a member of the EU

Don't know any leaver that thinks that Confused

put me in my place by telling me why the benefits of Brexit are worth the consequences
LOL, we cant because you want to be in the EU. However I cant tell you in one sentence the benefits of Brexit for me that are worth the consequences... "We will be out of the EU!"

Corbyn has stepped up to the plate far for than TM has even vaguely attempted to since she called the GE
Are you talking about Jeremy Corbyn the leader of the Labour party? ROFLMAO seriously did you type that with a straight face?

The price and imported fruit and veg has shot up as well
Good for British farmers and home grown fruit and veg then.

Anon1234567890 · 30/04/2017 16:52

I hardly think that appointing a foreign secretary who talks about 'picaninnies' and 'water-melon smiles' is a clever appointment

Not everyone is a PC robot and a lot of people like politicians with a personality. It seems normal.

Bearbehind · 30/04/2017 16:55

However I cant tell you in one sentence the benefits of Brexit for me that are worth the consequences... "We will be out of the EU!"

Assuming you meant 'can' not 'cant' above.

What is so bad about the EU?

I know you think it's big and clever to say that but, unless you can actually articulate why it's such an issue being in the EU and why the consequences are worth leaving then it's just bravado bollocks.

OP posts:
Peregrina · 30/04/2017 16:59

I think it's deeply offensive and racist myself.

And illegal. Equalities Act 2010 Harassment.

BrexshitMeansBrexshit · 30/04/2017 17:27

Yeah, who needs imports? Fuck pineapples and mangoes and all that elitist shit. Let's go back to a wartime diet.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 30/04/2017 17:36

Not everyone is a PC robot and a lot of people like politicians with a personality. It seems normal.

Yep ...not normal

Unless you hang out a lot with BNP and NF members

Anon1234567890 · 30/04/2017 17:37

why aren't more people questioning the priority being immigration to the detriment of free trade for example
Simple, a lot of people agree with prioritizing controlling our borders above free trade with the EU.

This thread has shown people seem quite happy for TM to promise nothing and to continually talk in vague, abstract sound bites
I disagree with your assertion but if that is true then people will vote accordingly.

the fact is TM isn't answering questions on anything Then dont vote for her, I however did like her answers compared to the alternative so probably will vote for her.

BrexshitMeansBrexshit · 30/04/2017 17:39

By having a cordial relationship with the leader of the most powerful country in the world I don't think we should be prioritising 'cordial relationships' with despots like Erdogan and twats like Trump. We should be looking to forge positive relationships with countries that have decent human rights records and not depending on selling arms to trading with countries like Saudi Arabia

By speaking in words normal people understand. We are not all simpletons.

By not divulging her plans prior to negotiations She doesn't have a plan. Let us be clear.

By making clever appointments Oh please, please let us hear your argument to support this particular gem.

By refusing to give JC the credibility of her presence. Her presence has no credibility.

By listening to her advisers. Even when they advise her to talk like a patronising robot. As I said, she clearly can't think for herself.

Anon1234567890 · 30/04/2017 17:48

Yeah, who needs imports? Fuck pineapples and mangoes and all that elitist shit.
And there speaks the voice of the wealthy liberal elite. I will have cheap imported fresh pineapples and mangoes at xmas no matter the cost to the environment. Fuck local farmers who produce apples and oranges.

Anon1234567890 · 30/04/2017 17:50

I think it's deeply offensive and racist myself. And illegal. Equalities Act 2010 Harassment

So ring the police and get him arrested. Oh wait no one did because it wasn't.

Anon1234567890 · 30/04/2017 17:52

Unless you hang out a lot with BNP and NF members

I guess left wing extremists think are Tories are secret BNP or NF members. It must really shake your world view when half the country supports TM. You always know who is losing when they drag that old chestnut out.

prettybird · 30/04/2017 17:53

It would be laughable if it weren't so ignorant sad that Anon thinks that British farmers grow oranges Confused

Who knew? Wink Global warming is having a quicker effect than I thought Grin
