Well here we are, almost 9 months on from the referendum & A50 is finally set to be triggered this month.
We've had petitions, marches, tantrums & tears, from the hardcore remainers desperately trying to stop the will of the people, but they can't.

So let's get the champagne out of the cellar ready & waiting - this is the last Brexit Arms thread so let's celebrate!

Maybe Kaija but surely preaching to the converted on MN is a waste of resources?

Kaija · 15/03/2017 10:08

I didn't think you'd been converted yet, bored Grin

boredofbrexit · 15/03/2017 10:13

Fake news KaijaGrin

boredofbrexit · 15/03/2017 10:14

anyway it was the word preaching I liked in that sentence😂

SemiPermanent · 15/03/2017 10:17

Re Scottish independence, as part of the diaspora I would defer to my countrymen who are enfranchised.

Me too.

And a bunch of English people pontificating about how deluded they are will probably tip the case for independence.

Which is what I think happened with the EU ref fwiw.
The more superior people were about dismissing & minimising those who wanted a UK which was independent of the EU behemoth, the more the tentative Leavers were hardened in their resolve.

Human nature innit?!

SemiPermanent · 15/03/2017 10:18

Lol at Bored being converted 😂

howabout · 15/03/2017 10:19

Been off with heather in my ears for a couple of weeks but since you are all asking ...

I am Scottish and in Scotland so I get to vote in Indyref2 and I say bring it on. If it gets decided within Brexit, given it appears 67% of Scots are Eurosceptic (Prof Curtice research) and only 46% support Independence (no change since 2014) then that should resolve the issue like in Quebec. Hopefully then Scotland can get back to arguing about real issues of public policy and influencing rUK to be more like us.

FWIW I think the whole discussion of Independence is farcical. There is no way back from devolution and devolution will forever be constrained by the interdependencies with rUK however Max it becomes.

I am a happy camper this morning as the SNP are starting to realise that even in Scotland Brexit means Brexit. Smile

boredofbrexit · 15/03/2017 10:22

HowaboutBrew a day for drinking tea and dancing on the table for you thenSmile

Bearbehind · 15/03/2017 10:24

Human nature innit?!

Yes- if you are stubborn fool who thinks proving a point is more important than anything else.

CountMagnus · 15/03/2017 10:40

Last person I know who danced on a table broke their ankle.

SemiPermanent · 15/03/2017 10:48

I hurt my head on a ceiling-mounted air conditioning unit once, when dancing on a table.

Bearbehind · 15/03/2017 11:22

I know this is pointless but does it remotely bother any of you that David Davis appears to have done precisely nothing in the last 9 months and cannot answer anything the Brexit Select Committee are asking him

boredofbrexit · 15/03/2017 11:38

Why would it? The EU expressly prohibited itGrin

boredofbrexit · 15/03/2017 11:40

(If you had substituted will not for cannot I might have answered differently)

Semi, that knock on the head is probably what put you all wrong and destined you for the Brexit Arms thread rather than the other oneWink

Bearbehind · 15/03/2017 11:42

Why would it? The EU expressly prohibited it

Are you serious?

Do you honestly think we should only start thinking about how this might work after A50 is invoked?

Bearbehind · 15/03/2017 11:45

If you had substituted will not for cannot I might have answered differently

His responses were those of man who can not rather than will not

He made himself look and absolute fool by saying repeatedly 'he hadn't looked at that'

boredofbrexit · 15/03/2017 11:49

We disagree then. I think DD is doing admirably well.

Bearbehind · 15/03/2017 11:50

bored did you see or read the transcript of this mornings proceedings? Hmm

PoundlandUK · 15/03/2017 11:51

SemiPermanent · 15/03/2017 11:57

I ❤️ DD
He's a lovely man.

Also a fan of Spreadsheet Phil & TM.

Tanith · 15/03/2017 12:02

"If you had substituted will not for cannot I might have answered differently"

So he lied, then? He did, after all, tell them he hadn't looked at it. That's the language of 'cannot'.

howabout · 15/03/2017 12:32

I can sword dance on the table but it can be messy Grin

Just peeked in to hear DD extolling the fabulousness of the UK University sector and its International stature. He can reportedly traverse the castle ramparts in the dead of night so I bet he has it all covered.

boredofbrexit · 15/03/2017 12:49

Wrong, Tanith, cannot could also mean unwillingness (to answer).

boredofbrexit · 15/03/2017 12:50

Is it the dead of night thing thats got them all frothing about vampires then?

Bearbehind · 15/03/2017 13:15

I note you ignore my question about where we would be in a decade if the vote had been to remain?

FFS the straw clutching is astounding.

Davies repeatedly could not answer questions because he admitted he hadn't looked at the subject in question.

That is not avoiding the questions, it is being completely ill equipped to answer them.

It made him look an almighty fool.
