The much vaunted experts that in March last year warned:

"...leaving the EU would cause a serious shock to the UK economy that could lead to 950,000 job losses and leave the average household £3,700 worse off by 2020..."

have now updated their long term forecasts, with UK out of EU:

"...With annual average growth of about 1.9% over the period to 2050, the UK is projected to be the fastest-growing economy of the G7..."

"...By that measure [GDP], the US is still the world’s leading economy in 2050 followed by Germany, the UK and Canada. But China and India are closing the income gap with those at the top, according to PwC’s projections..."

So, do we believe them now...??!!

Jihadist Leavers...

Makes a change from Nazi.

Which was a change from fuckwit.

Which was a welcome change from stupid.

Which was mildly less offensive than xenophobe.

What's next, I wonder??!!

WrongTrouser · 07/02/2017 20:16

Love the "the tone of this debate is hysterical ... they're like jihadis". Fabulous.

It reminds me of TB's "This isn't a time for soundbites ... I feel the hand of history on my shoulder".

WrongTrouser · 07/02/2017 20:18

I agree re name-calling inflation. Not really anywhere else to go now is there? (I'm sure they'll think of something).

SemiPermanent · 07/02/2017 20:32

Gove just slayed the SNP in HoC Grin

(Am honestly not a massive geek, it's just on in the background Blush).

The SNP were banging on about how most people in STEM jobs in Scotland are EU migrants.
Gove asked if the reason Scotland were now importing scientists when they used to export them, was because of the SNPs failing stewardship of the Scottish education system. 😂😂

(Whatever your opinion is of Gove & what he did/didn't achieve with schools, it was v v funny).

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 07/02/2017 21:05

Confused ....as usual

So according to your post semi its going to be shitty til about 2020 and will be great again by 2050

Yay?

Tryingtosaveup · 07/02/2017 22:15

Well I think Trump should come. Bercow welcomed the Chimese PM. At least Trump has been elected.
And I think I need a large g+t. Or perhaps an A50 on ice.
I am also a swing voter but voted Tory and will do so again. Am disgusted at Diane Abbott

boredofbrexit · 07/02/2017 22:47

I read that Osborne didn't turn up to vote.

SemiPermanent · 07/02/2017 22:51

Bercow also wined & dined representatives from North Korea & Vietnam.
And billed the tax payer...

Pretty sure their human rights records are worse than Trump.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 07/02/2017 22:56

I will take that as a yes then

WrongTrouser · 08/02/2017 08:30

rufus My reading of the PWC forecast Semi linked to is that there will be some dampening effect on the economy by Brexit up to 2020 (but not enough to cause a recesion), but that after 2020 there will not be a dampening effect (and the UK will outperform its peers) and that even with this effect, growth will be 1.9% from now.

So slight effect to 2020, then no effect.

But I may have misunderstood.

Consultants PwC say the UK economy will not escape entirely unscathed from the decision to leave the bloc and that it will dampen growth prospects in the short term. But the brunt of the impact would be felt by 2020 and in the years that follow the UK would outperform its peers thanks to its relatively large working age population and its flexible economy

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 08/02/2017 09:45

Thanks wrong

So how i read it as well then

Its just the post seemed to be comparing apples with oranges a sort of 'look everyone said it would be bad after we leave...but it will be great by 2050'

I will be dead by then!!!!

From BBC website: 'EU must reform or disappear'

Guy Verhofstadt is the European Parliament’s lead Brexit negotiator, as well as the former Prime Minister of Belgium.

In an interview with the BBC's Business Daily he says:

"If we look to the pressure on the European Union at the moment… [President Trump] is bidding on the designation of the European Union and also Vladimir Putin who wants to divide the European Union, then there’s also the threat of jihadism and then internally we have enormous pressure by nationalists, populists, the whole question of Brexit, so it’s an existential moment for the European Union… it’s now the time to reform, otherwise it could disappear."

The full interview can be heard on Business Daily on the BBC World Service at 08:30 GMT.

Jezza has denied that he is thinking of stepping down, glory hallelujah. No need, I'm sure all the humourless charlies will be off to the Lib(non)dems and he can get on with building a real opposition.

Labour as it is now does not work for the pure and simple reason that many in it originate from Blairs glory days. They can't hack not being in control and telling everyone what to do, as evidenced by the performances post-ref of them and their ilk.

boredofbrexit · 08/02/2017 09:56
