Good I have not had good series to get into for long time.

Kaija · 30/01/2017 22:36

Yes, what informal said. Sadly, as revolting as his comments about Kate Middleton would be seen to be in normal times, they are little more than a mildly amusing diversion in the context of the course of action that he and Bannon are embarked on now.

And on that subject:

Am off to make a placard and protest down at my local town hall.

I am fundamentally against the death penalty.
America has the death penalty.

(Is it now our duty as UK citizens to protest about everything we disagree with in US domestic policy, or just Trump-centric things??)

InformalRoman · 30/01/2017 23:07

semi (which seems a bit rude, sorry) can you make me a placard too?

"Down With This Sort Of Thing" would cover all bases?

(With apologies to Father Ted ... although a placard with Tea?! Feck! might do the job just as well - bloody Americans and their bloody Lipton's tea).

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 30/01/2017 23:18

That sounds like a great idea semi

Make sure you wrap up warm...its really bitter out there

SemiPermanent · 30/01/2017 23:20

Sadly I cut a lone figure in the rain down at the town hall - my hastily scribbled sign ran in the drizzle and I got a bit cold.

"I don't agree with various aspects of America's domestic policy" didn't really have the zing that I was aiming for either tbh - I should have channelled Father Ted as you suggest Informal...

I used the back of a shreddies box, so it was rather small as well - I fear my message was lost somewhat. Sad

I can picture it now...Sad

Was it something like this

To be honest, I am heartened that those in positions of power in America are finding their voices now (finally) - I'm not a trump fan, I think he's a twat.

It's the hysteria from people over here that's irked me - especially some of the ridiculousness from MPs.

SemiPermanent · 30/01/2017 23:25

*1. The referendum: voted through by parliament, rigorously held to voting standards & followed a campaign for each side, and in which 46.5 million people registered a vote.
"17.4 million people should be ignored as the vote was advisory only"
"there should be a second referendum"
"Only a third of the country wanted this, therefore Brexit shouldn't happen"

  1. An online petition: signed by just over a million people, unverifiable and unregulated.
"Yes! The people are speaking! Ban Trump from a state visit!"

What the actual fuck?!*

Excellent post, more hysteria from Bear as well it's been an eventful few days on here hasn't it

Bolshybookworm · 31/01/2017 07:07

For those of us with Muslim family and friends in the states, it's not hysteria, its fear. Raw and very real fear.
My best mate is now trapped in the states because of this order. She has been a refugee, has lived through two wars and now, in the country where she should finally feel safe, she is being victimised for her religion and place of birth.

That's raw racism, nothing more, nothing less and if I want to protest against it I damn well will.

woman12345 · 31/01/2017 07:10

Read your history.
EDL culpable in one murder, there will be more.
America First culpable in many more.
Ignorance is no defence.

TheElementsSong · 31/01/2017 07:12

If you look up thread, Bolshy you'll see that nobody in this pub gives a crap because they're from "backward places".

woman12345 · 31/01/2017 07:15

^I am fundamentally against the death penalty.
America has the death penalty^
look out for next referendum on it in UK:
it is UKIP and Aron Banks policy. If the people get their popular vote on it in UK it will be passed.
They didn't just kill a mother, they killed the constitution. Look what Trump is doing to US constitution.

Headfullofdreams · 31/01/2017 07:46

Bolshy, you are wasting your breath on this thread, most of them really don't care, see Surfer post a few days back. We are all hysterical and it's not about the facist Trump, it's a secret Brexit thwarting ploy Hmm

I

woman12345 · 31/01/2017 08:20

Even the queen is loathe to engage with him.
This could cause a constitutional crisis involving the monarchy.

Elements Can you tell me who posted this or roughly where - I am not questioning that it was said but it's a long thread to search through.

SemiPermanent · 31/01/2017 08:28

We are all hysterical

Yes. Yes you are.

WrongTrouser · 31/01/2017 08:32

Well either we're worth having a discussion with on this thread or we're not. If you really think we're not, various other threads are available.

And for myself, I am very worried about what Trump is up to but I would feel a bit more convinced about the motivations of some of the anti-Trumpers if they could manage to make their points without reference to Brexit.

SemiPermanent · 31/01/2017 08:33

What on earth are you on about?

UKIP & Aaron Banks = No Power At All in the UK.

Who is the mother? Is it Jo Cox? I was unaware that Aaron Banks & UKIP killed her, if so.
Perhaps you should inform the police as they have someone else in prison for that.

'They killed the constitution' - what a load of bollocks.

woman12345 · 31/01/2017 08:35

Kudos to the protestors Bolshy

Looking like it's going to be a teeny weeny country left for president Banks and prime minister Nuttells.

I wonder if he gets to do the executions himself?
Maybe electric chair exports will be the mainstay of the post Brexit economy.

Referendum is advisory.
MPs are representatives not delegates.
