Ive been away.......dry January and all that. cough cough

SemiPermanent · 18/01/2017 09:07

Lol Wendy Grin

Welcome back to the 'facile' and 'vacuous' pub thread!!

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 18/01/2017 09:24

Hilarious Wendy, that was me too. Yes the thread of inane hyperbole where no real questions are answered and certainly not from punishment chair in the corner Grin

Brussels is arrogant and impervious to humility and self appraisal. It has shown us this time and time and time again. It was great to hear TM speech. I hope Parliament do not let her down, she has said she means business.

IamWendy · 18/01/2017 09:39

They put me in the chair once, but the light from their interrogation lamp reflected off the back of my empty skull, dazzling them for long enough for me to escape! I later heard a rumour that they saw a tiny, weak unicorn, wearing a Union Jack coat in my empty head. But I think after yesterday the unicorn has been revived!

WrongTrouser · 18/01/2017 09:45

No, no, no - you're not supposed to talk about what is being said on another EU thread rather than challenging it on the thread itself - they were saying so on the WM thread about comments on this thread.........eh?......

SemiPermanent · 18/01/2017 09:53

I can't be fucking arsed with that thread at the moment.
It's usually quite informative, regardless of one's voting persuasion, but it's descended into clique hell at the mo - I'm sure it will calm down back to normal again at some point though.

I got SHOUTED AT IN CAPS LOCK for daring to say I was pleased and hopeful following Theresa May's speech on mental health - that pretty much was the switch-off point for me.

SemiPermanent · 18/01/2017 09:55

lol wrong, I thought that yesterday!
I held off mentioning anything specific from it, until I saw this thread & its posters being discussed & denigrated and then I thought 'fuck it'.

NumberOneTricky · 18/01/2017 09:58

My switch off point for this thread was when one charming poster told someone to fuck off out of the country and no one seemed to have an issue with it.

NumberOneTricky · 18/01/2017 09:59

Although obviously I had to 'switch back on' to say that!

SemiPermanent · 18/01/2017 10:09

That comment was made off the back of the usual deluge of posters wailing about how they were all going to take their higher-tax-rate-paying-selves out of Britain & move to another country.

Many of the same posters who were apparently doing that last June.

I agree tbh - if you want to go, go.
Just stop wailing about it.

surferjet · 18/01/2017 10:19

Yep. If you really don't like the direction this country is going in then move? people do it all the time. What's the point of staying here & being constantly miserable?

NumberOneTricky · 18/01/2017 10:20

Fine. But you're hardly in a position to complain about others when you're a-okay with people saying 'fuck off out of the country'.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 18/01/2017 10:21

wrong perhaps they are channeling EU Mo, which is one rule for them - one rule for us Confused
Iamwendy what a lucky escape you had Grin

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 18/01/2017 10:24

number

Are you really going to try and twist that comment now?
It applies to everything - you moan constantly about your dreadful Dh - leave him, you hate your job - get a new one, You cant stand the country your living in - MOVE.

Keep going trying to twist it - but your on a loosing wicket here.

NumberOneTricky · 18/01/2017 10:26

Twist it? It's there in black and white. But you keep making excuses if it brings you comfort. Because everyone on this thread is good and everyone in the other thread is baaaad.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 18/01/2017 10:28

YES twist because it seems to me your trying to put a racist slant on it somehow?

NumberOneTricky · 18/01/2017 10:29

You cant stand the country your living in - MOVE.

So you don't have to deal with listening to anyone who doesn't think Brexit is ace? As I already explained not everyone who despairs at the current state of the country is in a position to leave or even wants to leave. They want to see it improve. Childish 'fucks off' really don't add anything except aggression.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 18/01/2017 10:31

Or maybe it shows how fed people are of hearing how awful the UK is. People can still move to the EU. Smile

( they can move after we leave of course too)

IamWendy · 18/01/2017 10:34

Ok then number, if you hate the country you live in, stay by all means, but stop moaning on at those who like living in it and demanding they justify their reasons for liking it? Is that fair??

NumberOneTricky · 18/01/2017 10:36

That's just part of living in a democracy I'm afraid. People are free to shout from their rooftops if they're not happy with the current state of play. Whether it's about Brexit, the Glastonbury name change, or their council's new parking permits. And long may it continue. Internet echo chambers are one thing but living in a real life echo chamber doesn't sound particularly fun or healthy.

SemiPermanent · 18/01/2017 10:37

Because everyone on this thread is good and everyone in the other thread is baaaad.

Ironically, you're the only poster to say that...

SemiPermanent · 18/01/2017 10:39

living in a real life echo chamber doesn't sound particularly fun or healthy.

Who is doing that?
Not me, definitely.

Is that yet another generalisation?

NumberOneTricky · 18/01/2017 10:39

Er, I never said it was a direct quote. But you do seem to spend a lot of time discussing in negative terms what’s being discussed on the other thread!

NumberOneTricky · 18/01/2017 10:40

Semi I never said anyone was doing that. I was merely saying that living in a society where everyone was on the same page about everything would be dull.
