thanks for posting Smile I'm going

oliviafrombolivia · 15/01/2017 15:27

bringing my 15 year old daughter to this, her first march.

Niamer · 15/01/2017 19:47

Brilliant! Sounds like we are going to have plenty to protest about with a Hard Brexit looking likely Sad. I know a soft fluffy one was never likely, but it feels really real and scary now.

Yes. March is not looking soon enough.

Niamer · 15/01/2017 22:29

I know. There is one in London on 4 Feb particularly campaigning for a second ref I think. In the meantime, everyone against a hard Brexit needs to speak to their MPs and keep pressure on.

Is anyone bringing younger kids?

Niamer · 15/01/2017 22:38

No, mine are teens. I haven't been to any of the London marches, so couldn't really comment. Hopefully someone will come along who has.

Topcat - just a thought on the globalisation point: any trade deal with the US (especially under trump) is going to mean allowing US companies to bid for contracts in the UK - including public sector, NHS, etc. If you think leaving the EU means less globalisation I think you're wrong. I also think it will accelerate the privatisation of the NHS as that will suit both the tories and the (trump) US in terms of a trade deal which, lets face it, the UK will be desperate to sign Sad

Timeforausernamechange · 16/01/2017 07:21

Will be there

missmoon · 16/01/2017 08:47

Thanks for the tip, I'll be there!

Lico · 16/01/2017 08:53

Am going
Grape grape. Yes I am bringing my 11 years old. I believe that is important for her to experience marches in the streets. Not just be a couch potato letting others dictate her life.

WifeofDarth · 16/01/2017 09:19

GraceGrape We went to the last marches with younger kids (one in buggy, two primary schoolers). They all loved it and are looking forward to the next one.
Just make sure that you're suitably equipped for the weather, and if they might struggle with the long walk then join further along the route as there was a lot of hanging around as we waited at the back for it to get started.

GraceGrape · 16/01/2017 09:57

Thanks Lico and Darth. Was thinking of bringing a 6 year old so joining later might be a good plan.

Sixteen Million Rising

scaredoffallout · 18/01/2017 15:56

I'll be there.

those who wish to sell us off to the globalists have been defeated

As opposed to those who wish to turn the UK into a low tax and NHSless haven, who have "won". What a victory.

scaredoffallout · 18/01/2017 15:57

The other marches were fine for kids.

fakenamefornow · 19/01/2017 09:06

Thank you op. I'm going to try to go.

I know, I know, the Brexit lot will say 'won't to a thing' but it will show my children that I did everything I could to protect their future.

shutthefrontdoor123 · 19/01/2017 09:27

I've never been on a march and never thought I would, but having heard T.May stand there and blatantly lie that she has 65 million behind her and we are coming together, I have to do something. How dare she project the image to the rest of the world that we all want this stupidity. If anything, we are drifting further apart in our divisions as a nation. She needs to see that, and so does the rest of the world. I hope the march is massive and gets shown around the world. Brexit is not in my name.

Kaija · 19/01/2017 09:41

Well said.

Niamer · 19/01/2017 18:37

Well said shutthefrontdoor. Please spread the word everyone. Apathy must turn to activism!

Just giving this a bump after seeing yesterday's amazing marches!

GraceGrape · 22/01/2017 07:45

I hope people will turn out. There is a growing sense of apathy I find. The government needs to know that May's Brexit plan certainly doesn't have the support of 65 million people as she claims.

STIDW · 22/01/2017 12:31

I would go but I like to have more information about organisers or the organisations supporting a march before committing myself.
