Howabout linked a Larry Elliot article about it, Informal.

InformalRoman · 08/01/2017 20:43

But I don't think the conclusion has changed - i.e. that given the UK is facing a unique situation any forecasting model has to use a number of assumptions that may or may not be true?

InformalRoman · 08/01/2017 20:43

Or maybe I'll just go back to the advocaat ...

time4chocolate · 08/01/2017 20:44

I saw that mango - have a large one Wine on me.

Trying - without question, there is no disguising the posting style and voraciousness - it has the ability to suck the life out of you.

InformalRoman · 08/01/2017 21:16

Thanks time4 - I'm not sure I could manage a large advocaat unless it's liberally doused with lemonade - that was the Christmas drink of my youth in the 1970s (and the only thing my parents would allow).

InformalRoman · 08/01/2017 21:18

Oooh, the big drink was for mango. My bad.

time4chocolate · 08/01/2017 21:25

Informal - your more than welcome to one too Smile. Never actually tried advocaat, in my heady youth I was a Pernod and blackcurrant kinda gal Shock.

InformalRoman · 08/01/2017 21:36

Smile I had a Pernod and black session once - ended up throwing up and thinking I was dying because of the colour! Never touched Pernod since Grin

Nice bit of shit stirring there hanser Hmm

Whoever darth is/was, her only crime on this thread appears to be asking Leavers questions they can't answer and making points they choose to ignore because they can't provide a defence.

It's more than a little pathetic that some Leavers on here have to resort to whatever means necessary to try to silence all those who aren't happy to put their fingers in their ears and chant la-la-la.

Hanser · 09/01/2017 11:56

Its not shit stirring if it's true. I'm not sure if smallfox (RIP) thought I wouldn't copy paste that diatribe on here, she claimed her intellect had no match, so should have known I'd do it. Not shit stirring to bring up the facts about a dear departed poster.

SemiPermanent · 09/01/2017 12:17

Is Smallfox a banned entity now?
The mere mention of her gets posts deleted?!

Kaija · 09/01/2017 12:45

I would imagine it was because it the deleted post suggested that a current poster was smallfox in disguise, rather than the mention of her name.

Not at all sure posting a private message on a public forum is a good thing to do.

Good afternoon all my fellow witches allof you Xmas Wink Good news today.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief " Often people talk in terms as if we are somehow leaving the EU, but we still want to keep bits of membership of the EU. We are leaving. We are coming out. We are not going to be a member of the EU any longer" That coupled with Nicola Sturgoens AM interview tells me she is playing hard ball, and we are looking at exiting single market.

I also like this " Staying in either the single market or the customs union would be the worst of all worlds, subject to European law but unable to change it - now that really would be muddled thinking" Xmas Grin That was IDS. Lovely wall paper SJ.

Kaija · 09/01/2017 16:48

She's denied it today, not wanting to be held responsible for the fall of the pound in response to her interview. So who knows.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 09/01/2017 16:53

Why don't you guys start another serious thread - and put forward all your critiques and systematically work through it step by step

I actually think without be factitious this is a great idea if there are more specific areas you want to discuss. You would get more sense out of posters drawn to a title that reflected that. I also agree with PP about challenges, any posters on here can challenge leavers as much as they want but its a done deal - the vote is over. There may be some really interesting points getting lost that perhaps deserve their own thread?

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 09/01/2017 16:56

So the new term is clean Brexit. Well Norway is worried I hope other countries are worried too that we will pull out. There is little point pandering to them and expecting a good deal.

Kaija · 09/01/2017 16:58

Don't worry - there are other threads where the finer points are being discussed. But they tend to be overwhelmingly populated by people who think Brexit is highly complex and problematic, and it's important to see the other side.

Kaija · 09/01/2017 17:02

I think the term clean Brexit has been around for a little while now on the right. May's new phrase, not so catchy, is:

"an ambitious, good, the best possible deal for the United Kingdom in terms of trading with, and operating within, the single European market."

Which sounds rather closer to Boris being pro-having your cake and pro-eating it. We can only hope she knows a lot more than she's letting on.

BoredofBrexit · 09/01/2017 17:45

Happy New Year to my old friends. Enjoy! www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/01/09/theresa-may-should-tell-europeans-come-work-wont-get-benefits/

TopCat2017 · 09/01/2017 21:09

Isn't that basically what Cameron negotiated anyway?

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 09/01/2017 21:16

Yes I suppose your right - the other side. That is the more lighter more humorous side, the side that breaths a sigh of relief that the right decision was made Xmas Smile. I suppose there are plenty of Leavers and Remainers on other threads discussing matter in a more formal serious way. We all understand the complexity of the undertaking after all.

If posters come on here thinking its important to see the other side then its the lighter side Xmas Grin on this particular thread.

Kaija · 09/01/2017 21:48

Well there is that, elf, but not only that. One way and another it's quite an insight.
