I'm skiving from the laundry mountain I promised to address mango, so you're in good company Brew

MangoMoon · 16/11/2016 09:32

My intention was good Wendy - I intended to give the house a once over and get the washing done etc.

Reality = I've come back to bed & watching the telly.

BoredOfBrexit · 16/11/2016 09:49

Arf. And erm....I haven't actually made it into the office yet as I am ploughing through all the postsemails that came in overnight. In my pjs.

Just had a quick look at the thread 'why won't Nigel Farage just go away' ( in chat ) posters wishing NF had died in that plane crash he had.
Dont you just love these morally superior, non violent, caring liberals.

BoredOfBrexit · 16/11/2016 09:55

On the other thread there has been the suggestion that all leavers are descendants of the Normans. Grin

Grin It's actually quite funny now to see just how far these self-styled peace loving, liberal, caring, weeping at the state of the world! people are prepared to go in their lashing out at anyone that isn't 'on their side'.

It's like fucking school!!

surferjet · 16/11/2016 10:08

They've all been exposed for what they are.
Angry, Out of touch, British hating weirdos.

Still, I doubt pointing out that NF is probably the most powerful man in politics at the moment will help, so I'll stay off that thread.

InfiniteSheldon · 16/11/2016 11:33

I think Nigel should be on the honours list on another note I'm pleased to see Trump is bypassing the press they treated him abysmally

IamWendy · 16/11/2016 11:57

It's not like Nigel Farage has forced brexit on us. It took him years to even get the idea of giving 'the people' a choice on the matter noticed.
An idea that the majority actually wanted!

Figmentofmyimagination · 16/11/2016 13:37

"Donald Trump is moving to the White House and the liberals put him there"

Certainly in the days after Trump was voted in, there were black voices saying that they always knew there would be a payback for having had the audacity to vote in a black president - that in due course there would be a price to pay - and that Trump is that price.

MangoMoon · 16/11/2016 13:49

Figment, many black voices were against Hilary Clinton as (amongst other reasons) her husband introduced policies that directly & disproportionately disaffected them.

shirleyknotanotherbot · 16/11/2016 16:50

many might be stretching it? I'd go with a few.

I've no faith in polls Shirley.
None.

As has been proved continually over the past 2 years, people repeatedly tell pollsters one thing and do the complete opposite in the anonymity of the polling booth.

Perhaps 88% of black people voted for Hilary, but I don't actually know, no one does.
I posted a link in which a well known, well educated, influential black man explained why he voted for Trump over Hilary, and he believes many others did too.

His lived experience & actual words are much, much more relevant to me than exit polls.

surferjet · 16/11/2016 17:59

Since Brexit & Trump, they're thinking of doing away with 'polls' - as mango said, people lie, especially when it involves controversy.
Along similar lines, In general elections I tell every party activist who knocks on my door I'll vote for them. < flirt >

shirleyknotanotherbot · 16/11/2016 18:16

These were exit polls and, as I understand it, the figures added up.

I have a problem with the final sentence of the piece, why would God not clear Hillary's mind too or is he implying she is working for the devil? But I guess that's just how Americans talk and it shouldn't be taken too literally.

InfiniteSheldon · 16/11/2016 18:51

It's interesting that polls are dominated by such inaccuracy. They really are little more than anecdotal evidence any more. I wonder if it's because they ask a chosen rather than random selection people, ask the wrong question (or the right question but asked in such a way it gets the desired answer rather than the right answer). Or if the pollsters just lie. Either way when I hear referendum related facts/polls/stats now I really struggle to be open minded enough to even consider that they might be valid. The motorway analogy I read on another thread is so true. I did my thesis on the use and misuse of statistics so I should declare I'm already biased against most 'opinion' polls.

MangoMoon · 16/11/2016 19:17

What was the motorway analogy??

InfiniteSheldon · 16/11/2016 19:40

They can keep saying and backing it up with statistics/polls'proof' that the motorway is flowing traffic is moving along nicely but we're sitting in a traffic jam therefore no amount of evidence will convince us the traffic is flowing.

MangoMoon · 16/11/2016 22:04

Thanks Sheldon, I remember reading that somewhere now!

I agree.

In other news, no ironing got done in the end today, but I did manage to do my nails Grin

In the end it was quite easy to keep off this site today, all the mean spirited malcontents were out in force, all those with a death wish for the uk. I don't get why they happily accept the EU prats threatening and punishing them - for it will be them too - yet we make a choice that was presented to us and you'd think we boiled their cat.

OP posts:
Marmitelover55 · 16/11/2016 22:23

The referendum was just a glorified opinion poll so I'm I'm in total agreement with you all that opinion polls like this are utter shite.

Glad you've all got so much time on your hands that you can loll about "watching telly in bed " and "skive" whilst the rest of us go to work and try and sort out this mess.

surferjet · 16/11/2016 22:27

Yeah, it's getting easier & easier to stay off here. It's full of EU loving annoying idiots.
