I was thinking, "uk law not mob rule" would be a suitable if dull slogan for a placard, what do you think? Too provocative?

I meant I'd fight metaphorically of course, I'm not planning on getting into a rumble with some EDL skinhead. (Are you really going to pretend there won't be any fascists on that march?)

time4chocolate · 08/11/2016 08:14

Accio - I think you need to grow up.

Kaija · 08/11/2016 08:25

That seems like a reasonable slogan, accio. Especially given Leave.EU's rallying cry for this: "with a demonstration on this scale surely the courts will bow to the will of the people". U.K. Law vs mob rule.

That's a good slogan Accio

"but pressure should not be brought to bear on the judges"

Do you not think that the right wing press have already done this?

It won't work though, because they will be impartial, as the current judges have been.

AccioMerlot · 08/11/2016 09:26

time4chocolate your personal insult doesn't completely address my concerns about the rule of law in this country in the face of intimidation, but cheers anyway.

Well the judge had to warn people in the gallery during the High Court trial!

I did an actual lol at that Grin
I love dull placard slogans!

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 09:46

Oh, and I'm sure this has been done before, but Farrage lovers, can I point out that he is an utter hypocrite, stamping his feet about Obama's involvement in the campaign prior to the vote, yet being out in the States ( and no doubt being paid for it) involving himself in the US vote.

Much like all of the points made in the leave campaign, either hypocritical or nonsensical, much hyperbole and appeals to emotion, little fact. There is a term for all of it.

jaws5 · 08/11/2016 09:56

vulpe did you hear Trump yesterday? "This is going to be Brexit plus, plus, plus". Farage has been an inspiration, and if Trump wins he will be partially responsible. Yet, he's still hauled here as a hero of the people. What a hypocritical scumbag he is. I had a long list of adjectives for him, but my bloodpressure rises just typing them

InformalRoman · 08/11/2016 10:05

Did Farage win The Apprentice USA?

surferjet · 08/11/2016 10:09

Remainers.
is there anything you don't like about the EU?
anything at all?

IamWendy · 08/11/2016 10:15

vulpec, farrage is a politician. He is not there as leader of a nation, trying to scare people by saying they will go to the back of the line! Obama misjudged the British, I think he really thought we would just do what he said. I got second hand embarrassment just watching him!

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 10:15

There is plenty not to like, but there is even less to like about leaving.

In any cost/benefit analysis remaining has a far higher net present value than leaving.

jaws5 · 08/11/2016 10:16

Yes, there are, as in any organization and government, increasingly so as we live in an increasingly complex globalized world. But the advantages are greater, a million fold...

surferjet · 08/11/2016 10:20

What a massive failure Obama was. He was so ineffective he gave the world Donald Trump.

Where to start with that? typical Brexiteer remark, always blaming others for the Trumps, the Farages, racism, xenophobia. Like when an abuser blames his victim, "she drove me to it" and all that...
Who will you blame when things go ever more chaotic?

MangoMoon · 08/11/2016 10:28

I do agree that Obama was a disappointment unfortunately.

But it was through no lack of trying, he could have made such a difference but was scuppered at every turn.

It's a real shame.

MangoMoon · 08/11/2016 10:30

Not a complete disappointment- I didn't mean that quite how it came out.

What I meant was he was prevented from doing all that he envisaged he would/could/wanted to.

I like Obama loads, and Michelle too.

jaws5 · 08/11/2016 10:37

I like Obama loads, and Michelle too, me too! and what a fantastic role model for girls all over the world Michelle has become! Future President of US I hope...

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 10:40

I disagree Wendy, Obama is still a politician after all, Farrage's criticism of Obama was that he came here getting involved in our national politics.

I was embarrassed for the leave campaign up until that point they had been saying that we'd sign better trade deals with the US and Obama disavowed them of that notion., Like the Cameron "WW3" thing, the leave campaign managed to turn it round in the press though.

And Obama a failure? Utter rubbish. Far more successful in than any republican president has been for decades.

The things he failed at were because he was held up by a republican senate/congress, nothing more.

MangoMoon · 08/11/2016 10:54

Not that anyone will be remotely interested or indeed bothered, but I am still in a massive huff today btw (no reason, just feeling unnecessarily belligerent), so the furthest I will go on here today is mindless drivel because I can't be trusted to not be a twat ShockGrin

Thanks for the virtual flowers yesterday btw twofingers - made me a smidge less irritable!
