Your antennae need adjusting Vulpa. Surf noticed a self contradiction only. I think some points are made up on the spot too. It was a protest vote, they were lied to, they're racist, they're thick, old, they're rich, poor, uneducated, over privileged, bigoted, it's just whatever suits your argument at that moment.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:42

Er.... Because I didn't?

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 21:45

"It was a protest vote"

Ok so there is evidence out there that some people voted as a protest vote or to kick the "elite" it was discussed by all media outlets on the night. Its been repeated by others since.

"they were lied to"

Can you disagree that some of the leave campaign was lies? £350m?

"they're racist"

Can you deny this either that some of the vote was anti immigration because of prejudices?

"they're thick, old, they're rich, poor, uneducated, over privileged, bigoted, it's just whatever suits your argument at that moment."

The rest goes for the all of that.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:45

No the average earnings rises have only been above inflation because of low inflation. But it is an average and I accept your point that at the low skill end of the scale the rise may not have been as much as the average because of freedom of movement.

Bearbehind · 08/11/2016 21:46

ww, you know you did avoid answering the question about the short term

Your answer was only ever about ideological, long term visions that may or may not transpire.

How will you justify the fact you you can more than absorb the rise in the cost of living your vote caused when people who can't are really struggling?

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:47

People voted for different reasons on both sides. To say 'mostly it was a protest vote' is a significant generalisation'.

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 21:48

"No the average earnings rises have only been above inflation because of low inflation"

Thats what I said in the first place.

The low end of the scale is only effected by a 10 percentage point increase in immigrants working in their industry, which incidentally has never happend. The BOE report ( I've linked to it elsewhere) notes the highest increase was a 7% point increase and then only over 2 years between 2004 and 2006.

Low wages in this country have been mainly effected by low growth since the 2008 crash.

time4chocolate · 08/11/2016 21:50

Vulpeculaveritas- I don't see an example there Confused

Whilst I agree it's not nice to be called traitor or to be sworn at, there is a line that is crossed when it becomes down right offensive, when the words 'racist' 'thick as shit', 'your mental' and even 'bunch of retards' gets aimed at an individual/group of people. I wouldn't call my worst enemy any of those names.

Kaija · 08/11/2016 21:51

"Oh, I thought all leave voters were thick ignorant racists? They were last week?
Now they're all wealthy?"

Did I say they're all wealthy? No, I said they weren't all poor. And I certainly didn't say they were "thick ignorant racists".

(In any case, nothing precludes a thick ignorant racist from being wealthy...)

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 21:53

Its a matter of opinion isn't it.

So you don't find that offensive, but you do find the ones that have been labelled at your side?

Fair enough but from what I can see on this thread it has been far more prevelant than on others.

Sigh, I still have work to do :( really must stop procrastinating.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 22:02

Well yours is also about predictions that may or may not transpire. I've given you evidence of the benefits to wages of something that is actually happening now. You can't just dismiss it. Everything we're talking about is based on forecasts, and so far the remainer forecasts have been wrong in the main (boe inflation report last week, I know you will be familiar)

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 22:03

No - it's awful among remainers. What come from the other side has been a response to seriously hostile and aggressive provocation.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 22:05

I thought you said the average earning rose only because inflation was low. That's not true (and doesn't really make sense) but I acknowledge you probably mid worded it.

Bearbehind · 08/11/2016 22:06

ww, I'm quite impressed that you have the balls to completely ignore the question but continue posting.

Unfortunately for you, it's not doing your credibility much good.

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 22:06

I think we can pretty much guarantee that inflation will be going up WW almost all firms have started to warn of it, and as far as your evidence goes, the increase in real wages is only down to inflation being very low, not due to any economic robustness. I didn't dismiss it, I agreed it has happened, but you seem to want to dismiss my points.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 22:08

Bear you need to stop. You need to get over this. I wouldn't talk to anyone in real life who harangued and insulted me like you do. You need to get over this. You can't bully me. It's time to let it go.

Bearbehind · 08/11/2016 22:09

Or maybe you could just answer the question and quit with the victim routine.

You give it out in spades but can't handle the heat yourself.

BoredofBrexit · 08/11/2016 22:11

Bear, WW exercised her democratic right to vote as she did as did all who voted. She has no responsibility, moral or otherwise, to any other voter. Leave voters cast their vote for their own reasons, uninformed or otherwise, and without coercion. I hope there will be no adverse economic circumstances that will cause suffering but who knows...many other factors also can cause economic shock - like what's happening tonight in US and other global issues. But you cannot seriously guilt trip WW and all of us.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 22:16

Thanks bored. Please stop bear. It's getting weird.

Kaija · 08/11/2016 22:18

Hmm, actually I very firmly believe that every voter had a moral responsibility to consider the consequences of their vote, not just to themselves but to others. I think this is always true in an election, but especially here where the ramifications are so huge and irreversible.

Bearbehind · 08/11/2016 22:18

bored, that's fine but when ww finds it appropriate to call Remainers 'traitors' or 'fakers' then it's perfectly reasonable to expect that she could answer really simple questions like how will those who are struggling already will cope with the imminent rise in inflation.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 22:19

Not really - that's the joy of universal suffeage.

However I have answered huge numbers of questions myself, including why I voted leave.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 22:20

I think i know what bear is doing: waiting to try to get the last word when the thread fills.

Bearbehind · 08/11/2016 22:21

Trouble is ww, you're happy to dish it out and be a goady fucker but you can't actually back up your stance on really simple matters.

Kaija · 08/11/2016 22:41
