I rejoiced at the '97 election, I genuinely felt euphoric. And he did do some good things - he finally got a minimum wage which the Tories had always opposed because it would apparently lead to thousand of people losing their jobs. He increased maternity leave, spent on the NHS etc.
I remember being on ML and listening to his Iraq speech and exceedingly reluctantly agreeing with him. In my defence, I wasn't massively knowledgeable about foreign affairs (something I've since tried to learn about) and I had 2 very young children so was super sensitive to apocalyptic warnings about anything that would endanger their future. I fell out with anti-war friends over it. When I saw how it all unfolded, I felt so utterly betrayed and angry that I fell for all the lies. I honestly can't look at his smug face.
And how the hell does he reconcile the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians in a war based on lies with his Christian beliefs?
There's an excellent article in one of the Brexit threads linking Iraq to Brexit- firstly by creating the vacuum which Isis filled and fuelling the refugee crisis. And also by massively increasing mistrust of politicians. The warnings by Remainers about the economy were seen as 'We've heard all this scaremongering before' with the WMD which could get here in 45 minutes but then turned out never to have existed. Some of his emails to Dubya sound like a lovesick puppy 'With you whatever' WTF.
But of course nothing will happen to him, he'll just carry on making millions.
If you're on benefits and do the occasional cash in hand job, you're scum stealing from hardworking people. But kill hundreds of thousands of people and plunge the world into turmoil by not planning for something everyone told you could have been foreseen and get away with it.

He must have spent on certain areas because Maternity wards were in utter diabolical crisis in 2006/2007.
