Anyone feeling the country is dividing?

I voted to Leave because I think the EU is anti-democratic and bureaucratic. I have absolutely no problem with immigration. I do believe though that integration is key for community cohesion.

I live in London and ALL my friends voted to remain. My best friend voted to Remain, I told her I voted to Remain as she thinks everyone who voted to Leave is racist and evil.

I feel like this referendum has created divides that were never there.

Is this just human nature? For people to follow the pack? I looked for a Facebook Leavers group tonight and everyone in it said how they love Nigel Farage. I don't.

I feel I can't relate to either side. I know this is a first world problem and I probably need to just get over myself but does anyone else feel like this?

I wish the government had made this decision for us!

Still, we've made years' worth of colossally lucrative work and money for lawyers, financiers, accountants and the elite, so that's OK, isn't it? Now it's either that, or revolution and a communist or Fascist regime. Sounds fun.

I love the article you share, wish there were more politicians like Vince Cable!

Ladies and chaps, I feel like I've reconciled some of my original feelings on all this, which is what my OP was about. I was absolutely emotionally torn but I have met so many good people on here that I don't feel like that anymore, I hope everyone can come to terms with what is happening and not blame each other as I strongly feel we should never have been put in this position and used as pawns in a political game that we are unaware of.

I have to go back to reality now and have a family complaining I'm alway on the phone.

Good luck everyone and thank you for providing some wise words in this crazy world! Flowers

I guess the plan is - who blinks first? We trash the EU economy and cause the collapse of the euro and Europe-wide instability, or the EU renegotiates terms in a panicked attempt to stop Europe going into massive crisis?

roundaboutthetown · 03/07/2016 09:03

Crazy world, definitely. I don't blame individual voters for that, just human nature!

OTheHugeManatee · 03/07/2016 09:16

Perhaps we need a MN group for the quiet Leavers

Can I join? (Ok I've not always been quiet but I would count as moderate, I think.)

Who blinks first....

That is EXACTLY the way I see it. Any forthcoming negotiations have become a game of poker.

The EU economy will recover on the back of Britain's losses (companies and jobs). It will be the UK economy that falls.

Why don't you have that as an option. Much more likely to happen.

Okay, who's up for this group? PMs please.

roundaboutthetown · 03/07/2016 11:23

Snowbells - I don't have that as an option because I don't think that was the Brexiteers' plan. I think this cynical bunch are hoping that they have stuffed up the whole of Europe. Why otherwise hold a referendum at this point in time?
