To suggest Londoners stay in London

You voted differently to where I live - by a huge margin. In your newspapers that you write (in London) you have said over the years how much you contribute to our local economy through your second homes and buy to let investments. But you refuse to live here permanently. I don't have to ask you why - you already know.

The last fishing boat in my town only left 3 weeks ago - hopefully they can come back and when they do, we will be enjoying the 'catch of the day', not you, so you can go back to London and wax lyrical or make some money describing it.

Float Are you serious? If this is a joke, please tell us the punchline.

FloatIsRechargedNow · 26/06/2016 20:31

Hiya worra et al infintissamal ad infinitum. I woke myself up enough... I do have lots of very scratched LPs, really I shouldn't be keepng them but if any MNer knows how to repair scratched vinyl I'd love to hear.

With regards to:
"The OP rocks up and spouts the most ignorant, bigoted pile of misinformed bollocks about Londoners and we're supposed to 'take a fucking chill pill'?"

Normally I wouldn't suggest such a supposition, but in this case I think a chill pill would be quite appropriate -don'tfergetme-

We in the Lake District voted to Remain, and here there is one of the biggest "second home" problems in the UK. Unlike Cornwall, we haven't had masses of EU funding either.

But, a majority of us up here understood that the second home problem here and the issues the housing market in general are not caused by our membership of the EU.

MrHannahSnell · 26/06/2016 20:31

If I want fish there's a market at Billingsgate.

Tworingsandamicrowave · 26/06/2016 20:32

Ghost are you Benjamin Button in RL?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/06/2016 20:33

Hey OP, I live in. Rural seaside village with loads of second homes and one up from you, two fishing boats. I voted remain because I wanted the economy not to flounder as we rely on the good people from London to come to visit and support us and like it or lump it, that is what they do. They come and stay in our B&B and if they don't have the money then they won't and then we are screwed

WorraLiberty · 26/06/2016 20:33

If I were you, I'd add a bit more tonic to it next time.

EasternDailyStress · 26/06/2016 20:36

Can I just remind you that 48% of people who live EVERYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY also voted to stay? Try to see the bigger picture love.

Pooka · 26/06/2016 20:37

I live in London. it's a Sunday - the fish and chip shops are shut.

No second home. Work for the council. No buy to let. We do always go on holiday to Cornwall though. Should we stop? Would that help?

LondonKiwiMummy · 26/06/2016 20:37

I am bloody beyond delighted as a Londoner to learn we have a second home somewhere in the UK. Perhaps we can now get to meet some local salt of the earth UKIPPers and learn more about how fabulous our Great Step Backwards will be.

And here I was thinking how hard it was post Brexit for us to both keep our jobs to pay the mortgage on the one house we own a bit of. Perhaps we will have to adjust our 1%er lifestyle to ensure we can continue to keep our kids in our local state school and our annual holiday of two weeks at my parents in laws' house.

You think life is a paradise here? Somehow we're all just sitting here drinking champagne for breakfast so that we can piss on your chips?

FFS.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/06/2016 20:38

And I have a side of local beef in my freezer, not sure which planet you are in unless you are confusing BSE with TB in which case no you aren't allowed to eat it

Fourfifthsof · 26/06/2016 20:38

People like you op are the reason some Londoners are calling for independence from the rest of the country. Wink

Ifailed · 26/06/2016 20:39

I'm with FloatIsRechargedNow on the 2nd home thing. We should all pay extra taxes so youngsters can buy a local home when they leave the nest. I've got two DS in their early twenties. We live in London. That'll be £1 million please everyone, to cover the cost of 2x average property. Please form an orderly queue to pay up. I'll even take Euros.

PastoralCare · 26/06/2016 20:41

maybe angry that London, Oxbridge and Scotland didn't vote the way she did?

FloatIsRechargedNow · 26/06/2016 20:45

Bump yes I understand, and to the other areas EU funding has worked for. And I do understand that most of the SW are beneficiaries of EU funding, except for the absurd 5b areas.

I'm in Torridge, look at the referendum map and it's an out area compared to the rest of the SW. Why? One of the most beautiful places on our planet.
An area with the lowest wages in the entire UK.

I really need to go now for tonight, thank you for all that have responded in your MN way including the nayersayers. New word.

OP posts:
Fourfifthsof · 26/06/2016 20:46

Sure op will be frothing at the mouth when she realises the UK government can't afford to pay the subsidies to her area that the EU did...

ocelot41 · 26/06/2016 20:46

Oh hang on, I am confused. I have lived in Northumberland, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Brighton and London. But now I will never be allowed to leave London because obviously my London-dwelling defines me more than any of the other places I have lived. Really?

PurpleRainDiamondsandPearls · 26/06/2016 20:46

Are you quite well, OP? This is most bizarre, including your assumption that we all know or care where you live. Grin

OddSocksHighHeels · 26/06/2016 20:46

Would a chill pill be appropriate OP? For you or every person living in London? Please do share!

Pooka I got fish and chips today. In London

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 26/06/2016 20:46

MN is full of vitriol and hate recently worra - in case you hadn't noticed ?

But yeah have another Fucking ruck

I personally think that London needs to check itself a bit - no harm in that - is there ?

PurpleRainDiamondsandPearls · 26/06/2016 20:47

Oh, we cross posted on your location. Still, LOL.

RustyPaperclip · 26/06/2016 20:48

Yes ocelot, we will keep you here forever

bananafish · 26/06/2016 20:48

How can your fish and chip shops be shut @pooka? Shock It's the busiest time of the day for our local chippy. Mind you; it's also full of tourists clutching their Lonely Planets and shelling out £12 for cod and chips, so it's probably not particularly representative...

I'm super happy to stay in London, OP. And, you stay where you are - rather than popping up here to stand peering at your tube map at the top of the escalators. With a backpack.

Win, win, as they say.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/06/2016 20:50

Perhaps I had better cancel my weekend away with my DS then as we are coming to your area

Ifailed · 26/06/2016 20:51

bananafish
