I don't want another attack on me I already feel battered and bruised from people on here -I was watching Muse 'Uprising'' at Glastonbury, they were bloody fantastic and the lyrics jumped out at me (maybe I am going mad I don't know) but they summed up what I feel about the EU and why I voted how I did. Worth a listen if anyones has a spare five minutes.

I am not for another referendum, that would be a huge mistake imo. The people have voted, it was a small win but still they won. Another referendum would bring incredible unrest and stir up hatred. Leavers would be perfectly right to be very pissed of. I say this as someone who is one of the temporary losers in this referendum. My family will be fine and we have options to live here or abroad in the long run but the rug has been pulled from under our feet as we have come to love this country for the reasons state in my pp.

"The brilliant British people, the polite, tolerant, generous to charities worldwide, decent British people. Britain is a special place with great people and a great system which is why so many people want to come and live here."
Reading the DM and bits on FB the British are very fed up with giving to charity to support developing countries. There are many other countries that have a much more fair and equal society, Sweden for example.
Britain is held back by its still live and kicking class system you can see this on MN where people get massively upitty about saying loo, or toilet, supper or tea, some of this is light-hearted but oftentimes it's not.

Badders123 · 27/06/2016 11:09

Claig...tolerant?
Huge rise of racist abuse, both online, in the street and through people's letterboxes.
It's only been 4 days!
How long before the racist leave voters (not YOU obv) realise that curbs on immigration won't happen? Hoa ling before they realise that they have been lied to! How long before they take to the streets?
A GE where ukip will make HUGE gains.
That is where we are headed. The rise of the far right.
Not what you wanted, I'm sure.
But it's where we are headed.

claig · 27/06/2016 11:13

'Reading the DM and bits on FB the British are very fed up with giving to charity to support developing countries.'

Yes and me too, but because we think a lot of these charities are spending a lot of their money on their £150,000 or above salary bosses and are used for political purposes such as to attack the mean Tories rather than being used to distribute enough of the donations to people in real need. We are sick of the chuggers and teams on the phone harrrasing old age pensioners for money and contributions which enrich the bosses and the contracted telephone marketing firm bosses and which sometimes lead to the suicide of great generous people. We are not against charity, but we want real charity and less of the phoney ones or charities such as the Bilderberg one etc.

'There are many other countries that have a much more fair and equal society, Sweden for example. '

Yes and I didn't say that Sweden was not a great place. I think that Britain is a great place too and above all it has great polite, tolerant, funny, good sense of humour, tolerant people. So do other countries, but so do we.

'Britain is held back by its still live and kicking class system'

Yes, it is not perfect, but that is why we want more representation and an end to rule by a useless elite and why we want an end to the out of touch metropolitan elite who are not representative of the people as shown by the result of the Referendum.

MyMacMess · 27/06/2016 11:16

I agre bad. A banker dad in North London said to my friend a GP from Norway (who work three days for two days pay i a surgery in a very deprived part of London because she doesn't get anti immigrant hassle in that area), whose dc go to the same school "when are you going home? Your children are taking school places away from English children". Incidentally this person is married to a Brit, but she has a strong accent so people notice she is a foreigner quiet easily. Some are not so tolerant now after Brexit.

caitlinohara · 27/06/2016 11:16

Badders If that does indeed happen about immigration, why would people vote Ukip if they feel that Ukip lied to them?

A4Document · 27/06/2016 11:17

Also, the EU is a cartel. It really really bothers me that we have spent the last however long screwing over African farmers by having tariff free trade for those in our nice white northern club but they (the African farmers) just can't compete.

Hear hear. This has been left unchallenged for too long.

MyMacMess · 27/06/2016 11:17

The dada though it was acce[table to say this to my friend. He is not deprived btw but doing quite well as a banker wanker.

Mooingcow · 27/06/2016 11:18

I have experienced living in London and one other city up north

I've experienced living in several continents, was brought up and educated in other countries and have lived under many different poputical and religious regimes.

You need to know that this is one of the most tolerant and open-hearted countries in the world.

Forget what you've been told and leave it, get out into the world, travel and make friends with people in their own home, not just people who've travelled to yours. Speak other languages, read books, newspapers, in translation if you have to. Get visas, stand in line.

It's all possible.

I'll shortcut one thing for you. Ignore colour and creed. Meet individuals and base your reactions on their humour, their food, their film, sport, whatever you have in common.

Don't believe what biased media want you to believe, left AND right-wing.

And if people say they are unhappy, individually or in numbers, try listening rather than telling them they're wrong, whatever your personal feelings.

Because one day you might need someone to extend you the same courtesy, and if you're not in tolerant old GB, the stakes might be a whole lot higher.

Good luck.

loobyloo1234 · 27/06/2016 11:20

Badders123 spreading joy on every MN thread i've seen so far. Have a day off mate. You regurgitate the same stuff on everything I've seen you comment on

claig · 27/06/2016 11:21

'Huge rise of racist abuse, both online, in the street and through people's letterboxes.
It's only been 4 days!'

I don't know anyone who would do that and my guess is that most MNers don't either. I do wonder if this is again being highlighted by the media in order to try and force the political class's hand to have another referendum.

'How long before they take to the streets?'

Never because this is Britain, a very tolerant place, one of the most tolerant places there is. The only people who take to the streets here are the left wing Poll Tax rioters or the Socialist Workers Party r the ob outside Boris's house calling Boris a "scumbag". You will never find teh 52% doing anything like that. The reason it is usually the left wing is because it is all political, they want to put pressure for another referendum, because the bankers are not happy with the way the people voted.

'A GE where ukip will make HUGE gains.'

I wouldn't mind that because I don't think UKIP are racist, I think they are common sense Thatcherite Tories which is why 20% of Tory voters defected to them. But it won't happen because UKIP are not the Establishment and the Establishment will use all their usual media tricks to allow the Tories and Labour to win instead.

Badders123 · 27/06/2016 11:22

Because they are fucking morons.
And people don't like admitting they are wrong.
This is no longer the tolerant caring society I thought it was
Farage and his baying mob have stripped back the thin veneer of respectability of people who hold these abhorrent views and now they feel they have a political mandate for those views so no linger feel they need to hide them. The hectoring of people on the street? It's going to get worse. Much worse.
I'm off out of this misery laden, rain bashed, small minded island.
And I'm taking my skill set and taxes with me.
All that will be left on this pathetic little outcrop in the North Sea will the uneducated and elderly.
Good luck With that.
It has never been more true that the real genius of the elite has been to make the poorest in our society vote against their own best interests.

Badders123 · 27/06/2016 11:24

People are reporting racist abuse everywhere in the uk.
It's happening
Now
What sil, happen when these delightful people realise that there will be no cap on migration?
When they realise there is no £350 million a week for the NHS?
What happens then?
Will they just shrug and say "oh well nevermind"
UKIP not racist?
Jesus.
Just keep your fingers in your ears claig and keep humming,
😳

Mooingcow · 27/06/2016 11:24

I'm off out of this misery laden, rain bashed, small minded island.

Grin Ciao

Good plan. Get out there and get yourself S sense of perspective. Start in maybe South America, then on to the Middle East.

Pack some Orwell for the visa queues.

Badders123 · 27/06/2016 11:28

Luckily for me I have dual citizenship of a much more liberal country than this has become.
😀

loobyloo1234 · 27/06/2016 11:29

Haha!!
The irony!

If they didn't appear in the same post, you would think those two statements where written by 2 different people,

'I am tolerant' vs 'you can all fuck off'

Do what you want Badders!
We still have free movement at this time so it should be quite straightforward to move elsewhere.

claig · 27/06/2016 11:31

"What will, happen when these delightful people realise that there will be no cap on migration?

Yes, and they will say "put the kettle on, let's have a cup of tea"
It is Britain , one of the most tolerant, peaceful places on earth, where the police do not carry guns and the people do not need to carry ID cards (despite Blair's best efforts).

The people are not stupid, they didn't believe £350 million exactly, and they know that Boris won't do much about immigration. What they care about is that the people are now sovereign and parliament will make our own laws and that we can deselect Boris if he doesn't do what we want and then we can put the kettle on.

glassgarden · 27/06/2016 11:32

Where abouts will you be going then Badders123?

Badders123 · 27/06/2016 11:33

Sigh.
Exactly mango.
How are all the racists going to take that bit of news?
Hmm?
I know not all leave voters are racist. I'm sure some are decent hard working people.
But lots of leave voters are racist and soon they will realise what they voted for will not happen.
They aren't just going to go away.
The box is open now.
😞

Badders123 · 27/06/2016 11:34

Claig...lots of people DID believe it!!
That's my point!
You knew. As I'm sure did quite a few leave voters.
But many many did not.
They are not going to take it very well when they lose their job, the NHS is gone and the borders stay open.

MyMacMess · 27/06/2016 11:36

Sorry I just read back my last post and had to laugh at yet another one of my auto correct sloppy typing typos.

*Dadda, i don't normally speak in baby language just to clarify.

Not that that has anything to do with this thread but anyway.

glassgarden · 27/06/2016 11:36

I'm also wondering what your skill set is Badders?
Something that allows you to work pretty much wherever you chose I'm guessing?

Badders123 · 27/06/2016 11:36

Anyway...really need to phone the embassy and get my passport applications 😀
Have a good day everyone

claig · 27/06/2016 11:38

Badder123, were you a senior adviser on Project Fear.

There aren't many racists. They vote BNP and it doesn't exist any more as any threat to anyone. Most British people are decent people and the media is deliberately portraying good people as racist, in the same way that some Tory bigwigs say that UKIP voters are racist, in order to perpetuate Project Fear.

All that has changed is that the people have voted to get out of the EU and the political class is shocked but has said "we will respect the will of the British people".
