I'd given up watching these debate programmes but may tune in for one last hurrah.

Rucker Ruth v Brawler Boris

Who's your money on?

The audience, rightly, were selected so that they were 50:50.

Despite that I did think Leave got more cheers, but I may have been imagining that!

RedToothBrush · 21/06/2016 21:54

Nice RED tie Boris.

Did you have to buy one specially?

flippinada · 21/06/2016 21:55

I think Ruth has that 'something' that makes her likeable in a way that cuts across party politics.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/06/2016 21:56

squoosh

Tony Parsons!

I'm glad he's Leave, I've always hated him and his overrated books

I bet his token immigrant wife feels the same. Misogynist cunt.

flippinada · 21/06/2016 21:56

Yeah, I don't think he does either Alis. He's very intelligent and ambitious, despite the buffoonish persona he presents to the world.

TendonQueen · 21/06/2016 21:57

For me all of Remain were good. Bloody love Ruth Davidson though and I'm not a Tory voter either. Credible, persuasive and passionate. Can we get her to cross the floor?

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 21:58

tulip

i felt leave got more of a cheer yes. However Leave are more passionate about getting out, so perhaps they were just louder?

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 22:00

I am struggling to see what Boris has to offer really, I cant believe he could be PM, I have not seen signs of this razor sharp intellect.

Maybe its because he has not been strong on the debates I have seen? He is weak when interrupted, weak to get back on track...and sadly, weak under personal attack.

I was pleased he was asked how he feels re personal attacks and he laughed and said no.

however i feel at some point he should have responded to it and called it out for the bullying it is.

squoosh · 21/06/2016 22:01

I think Ruth has that 'something' that makes her likeable in a way that cuts across party politics.

She does, and that's bloody rare for a Tory. As an outsider i.e. not a Tory voter and extremely unlikely ever to be, it's baffling to me that people would think Leadsom would have more appeal than Davidson. Leadsom just comes across to me as being cut from the same old unappealing Tory cloth.

Oh and very smug, not sure if that's been mentioned Wink

I also don't think Boris really believes in 'Leave' - he's totally regretting his stance. He just wants to be PM - which is less likely if we Remain.

He's totally played this wrong. I reckon right now with 36 hours to go he's desperately looking for a reason to cross to the Remain side

He really could cross. I wonder if Betfair are taking bets on this Hmm

flippinada · 21/06/2016 22:02

Me too Humpty. The verysound of his horrible nasal cockerney whine drives me round the twist.

Apologies to all cockneys who aren't Tony fucking Parsons (except Keith Allen, can't stand him either).

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 22:03

She does, and that's bloody rare for a Tory.

Really? So all Labour MPS are really likeable are they?

I see people as people who may support one party or another. Just musing what it would be like to see their politics first?

ipsogenix · 21/06/2016 22:03

I wish Boris would cross too.

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 22:04

I reckon right now with 36 hours to go he's desperately looking for a reason to cross to the Remain side

Imagine a last minute defection from him????

squoosh · 21/06/2016 22:05

He's a cock isn't he Humpty, I've never been able to stand him. Imagine having Parsons as your dad and Julie Burchill as your mum! And he takes himself so very bloody seriously for someone who produces drivel that would be dismissed as 'chick lit' if his name was Antonia rather than Anthony.

OP posts:
Limer · 21/06/2016 22:08

I thought Tony Parsons was drunk.

Fascinating how the old party lines are thrown to the four winds. Very refreshing. Felt a bit sorry for Tim Farren relegated to the minor party seats.

Limer · 21/06/2016 22:09

Boris won't cross - he really meant that "Independence Day" final sentence.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/06/2016 22:09

Boris couldn't defect though surely? He'd make himself look a complete and utter fool. Not in the endearing way he so enjoys playing up to either.

Roonerspism · 21/06/2016 22:10

I'm not a Boris fan but I thought he was inspiring

squoosh · 21/06/2016 22:12

Boris is as bold as brass and always puts Project Boris first and foremost but not even he would be cheeky enough to attempt a defection.

ElleBellyBeeblebrox · 21/06/2016 22:12

Andrea was vile, smug and patronising. I've been shouting at the telly. Can't believe they're brushing under the carpet 600k donations from the BNP, all they can offer is Boris bellowing "take back control" every three minutes. And then afterwards comes fucking Gove!! I'm going to bed grumpy.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/06/2016 22:14

Tim Farrons point about a safer Europe was brilliant - he said something like "11 countries used to be behind the iron curtain with 6 countries pointing nuclear weapons at us".

That's such a terrifying thought. I keep forgetting how unsafe Europe used to be.

TulipsInAJug · 21/06/2016 22:14

I wish Ruth Davidson would cross the line. She was miles better than Sadiq Khan.

I started out intending to vote 'Remain' - I am cautious by nature; but I am now voting Leave. Remain is all about negativity and fear around leaving, and not positive reasons for remaining.

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 22:14

i really wish Frank Fields could have been on this debate to give a very different side to it all. Cold hard facts and yet he can speak for the human tragedy.

I never see what people see about Boris, bold as brass? Confused.
Andrea has worked in a team to try and see what reforms we could get, I guess the scales have fallen from eyes....

RedToothBrush · 21/06/2016 22:14

Leadsom just comes across to me as being cut from the same old unappealing Tory cloth.

Ding Ding Ding!
She wasn't there to appeal to you.
Who do you think she was there to appeal to?
I'll give you a clue. She was wearing blue.
