Anyone going to watch the Ruth Davidson v Boris Johnson debate this evening?

I'd given up watching these debate programmes but may tune in for one last hurrah.

Rucker Ruth v Brawler Boris

Who's your money on?

The Remain camp are winning this evening.

That Andrea woman is insufferably smug. Boris looks like he only has one rhetoric point to make - 'control' Confused

Ruth Davidson (who I don't agree with politically at all) has been really good - that point she made about the Head of MI5 and MI6 saying we're safer in was brilliant.

Sadiq looks like he wants a scrap Grin - he's so patriotic with all that 'we can do it' - he makes me happy to be British

Turbinaria · 21/06/2016 21:34

Andrea for PM

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/06/2016 21:36

The "as a mum" line being trotted out at regular intervals by Stuart and Leadsom is just embarrassing.

Birthing a human doesn't make you the voice of authority on the EU.

I suppose it's meant to appeal to women who pick up their referendum information from the red tops and leaflets through their door. Doubt it will meet its mark though as it's coming across as terribly patronising.

squoosh · 21/06/2016 21:36

All about perspective I suppose. From where I'm sitting Andrea seems desperately smug.

Remain camp can barely muster a credible argument to remain.

They've clearly lost tonight.

squoosh · 21/06/2016 21:37

Tony Parsons!

I'm glad he's Leave, I've always hated him and his overrated books Grin

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/06/2016 21:37

We're clearly not watching the same debate Tulips.

TulipsInAJug · 21/06/2016 21:37

I like Harsimrat Kaur - she's fab Grin

squoosh · 21/06/2016 21:38

Okay Tulips, whatever you say......

OP posts:
Limer · 21/06/2016 21:40

Andrea for PM and Harsimrat Kaur is very much fab Grin

How can Caroline Lucas sit there and support unlimited population increases? So much for the environment.

HollyGoeslightly · 21/06/2016 21:42

I agree that Harsimrat Kaur is fab. I am very disappointed in Caroline Lucas, why is she even in the Green Party?

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 21:43

turb that's is - unflappable

TK1930 · 21/06/2016 21:43

The remain ladies are like a pair of fish wives

TulipsInAJug · 21/06/2016 21:44

I think Ruth Davidson was impressive - but unfortunately her arguments had no substance.

HollyGoeslightly · 21/06/2016 21:44

I'm really pleased Boris got to speak last. I thought he did well with his closing statement.

squoosh · 21/06/2016 21:45

I'd never describe Ruth Davidson as a 'fish wife'. 'Fish wife' suggests shrill and out of control and she certainly never comes across that way to me.

BBC lady correcting Sadiq Khan now. Glad the 'Leave' side didn't stoop to the slurs of 'lies' that Remain relied so heavily on.

squoosh · 21/06/2016 21:47

Well Leave certainly can't be accused of bothering much with the truth. But that's been par for their campaign I suppose.

OP posts:
Limer · 21/06/2016 21:47

Standing ovation for Boris. Wow.

I actually really rate Ruth Davidson in Scottish politics, but I think she's on the wrong side tonight.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/06/2016 21:49

Leave have at best been economical with the truth, when they weren't outright lying.

TulipsInAJug · 21/06/2016 21:51

Agree, Limer, she does seem very competent, but I can't imagine Leave is very popular in Scotland? She has to think of her constituents.

So many of these politicians are using this debate simply to raise their profile. I include Boris in that.

Roonerspism · 21/06/2016 21:51

Caroline Lucas is an odd one, huh. Shall we release all the green belt land for building now?

flippinada · 21/06/2016 21:52

I only saw part of the audience stand up? Anyone who supports him will love that tub-thumping stuff though so not surprising they would respond to that sort of rhetoric, which Boris Johnson is admittedly very good at.

Can I ask...did anyone else catch Sadiq Kahn getting a huge cheer earlier on - I didn't imagine it, did I?

Roonerspism · 21/06/2016 21:52

I support Leave and am left wing, but Ruth is very popular up in Scotland.

To be honest, whatever your affiliations, the prominence of women - gay women - no less, in Scotland, is bloody brilliant.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/06/2016 21:53

He did, flippinada.

I don't think Boris really believes in the campaign, he just wants to be PM.
