i chose majorca because believe it or not its the most visited summer destination by british travellers. It would be obviously cheaper still to go self catering somewhere like mainland spain - ie costa brava/costa dorada.

Fio2 · 10/06/2005 13:17

can you really go to majorca with a family of four for 200 quid? how?

nutcracker · 10/06/2005 13:18

No Fio you can't.

Tiredemmas quote was per person i think.

tiredemma · 10/06/2005 13:19

no sorry, you have misunderstood me that price is per adult. id be going myself if it was that cheap!

nutcracker · 10/06/2005 13:20

Me too

Fio2 · 10/06/2005 13:21

oh sorry

i got some brochures the other day from the travel agent and couldnt believe how expensive the holidays were. Think we will just have to stick to either here or camping again, even with your own 'tourer' it is quite expensive, for us anyhow

tiredemma · 10/06/2005 13:26

they are expensive nowadays fio, i have noticed a drastic increase in the last 5 years. I would not be able to afford the holiday that i have if i didnt work here, its the only perk of the job really.

cant understand how tour ops can justify the increase in price through the school holidays.

tiredemma · 10/06/2005 13:27

nutty, my uncle has an 8 berth caravan at butlins skegness, if ever you are interested let me know. x

foxinsocks · 10/06/2005 13:30

I think a lot of people bring in sweets because loads of choc has that 'could contain nuts in' thing on the packet and sweets are then easier. Dd gets given them for other people's birthdays but I've never noticed them after holidays (but it's perfectly possible that I've missed a trick!). I can't see why you would bring in sweets after a holiday?

nutcracker · 10/06/2005 13:31

Oh thanks emma, will do. Was there anytihng going on the job front by the way ??

tiredemma · 10/06/2005 13:32

s**t forgot, hang on - im at work now, will go and ask....

tiredemma · 10/06/2005 13:36

yes, we are recruiting- my team leader is going to ask the office manager if we are recruiting non-experienced staff, she will ask her when the manager gets out of meeting.

misdee · 10/06/2005 13:50

nutcracker, alweays check out the haven holiday site. we got this weeekend (sat-mon) for £89 for all seven of us. very last minute, only booked on tuesday. fortunatly dd1 school undertsands the situation we are in and that we cant forward plan atm, so we're got this holiday as dh is having an ok-ish week.

misdee · 10/06/2005 13:50

£800 for a holiday!!!!!

Bonkerz · 10/06/2005 13:54

£800 for a holiday

We thought we were splashing out abit in October cos we have upgraded to a 3bed caravan so the kids can have a room each!! Still costing less than £200 for 7 nights and we have beach, pool, entertainment etc all in!!

£800 is more than our whole holiday budget per year including spending money and food!

wordsmith · 10/06/2005 13:58

Yes it's another world isn't it.

misdee · 10/06/2005 14:00

i have been abroad once, that was a 2 weeek break to spain when i was 17 with my parents which cost £180. usually i dont spend mroe than £200 on accomadation as cant afford it. did get a cheque back today for a holday we are having to cancel.

You didn't offend anyone dinosaur.

Thanks emma your a star

nutcracker · 10/06/2005 14:12

Will check out Haven Misdee , thanks.

wordsmith · 10/06/2005 14:13

God Dino no offence!! It's all horses for courses isn't it. £800 in istelf is reasonable if you have the money - but not everyone does.

peckarollover · 10/06/2005 14:16

It is costing us £1091 out of term time for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant.

In a nice but not luxury hotel in Majorca.

If it hadnt been for using half the wedding budget on the holiday we wouldnt have done this but really looking forward to it now

tiredemma · 10/06/2005 14:19

where are you going in majorca pecka?
is it half board? (used to live im majorca- am always intruiged as to where people are going there?)

peckarollover · 10/06/2005 14:41

No it isnt half board. Self catering.

It is Hotel Viva Mallorca in Alcudia or is it Cala a'n picafort or something
