Why is 6th form thought of more highly than attending FE college ?

Summersunshinee · 09/04/2023 17:24

I can never understand why if you say that you attend 6th form at school you are thought of more so than if you attended FE college.

I would feel that if anything it would be more impressive to attend FE college as you made the decision to go somewhere else and try something different /

I think the OP makes some good points

thegreenline · 24/07/2023 21:30

@pointythings Why didn't you try and encourage your son to become say a bus/coach or hgv driver ?

pointythings · 24/07/2023 22:04

@thegreenline you're the OP, aren't you?

It’s so obvious! I had thought better of the OP.

thegreenline · 24/07/2023 22:13

I`m not the op.

PettsWoodParadise · 24/07/2023 22:58

Some things that are the same as OP and @thegreenline include the following two non-standard uses of punctuation:

  • the gap at the end of a sentence and before the question mark
  • the non-standard apostrophe use doing I`m rather than I’m
It is like digital handwriting.

Has my favourite thread been resurrected ? Yay !

Good detective work from@PettsWoodParadise . We can now let this thread return to its peaceful sleep.

Good work. That, and the perverse logic, encapsulated in a pithy sentence or totally random question.

So why on earth lie?!

pointythings · 25/07/2023 19:21

Lying about it is not a good look. Nor is coming back with more of the same drivel and demonstrating that you have learned absolutely nothing.

Well I got found out. So I admit defeat.

But did you want a name change? Why not just say, I can’t log in so this is my new account?

Have you got any new ideas on the topic? Any reflection on what’s been said?

I have not changed my mind. I still think college is a better environment to 6th form at school.

Ah that’s a shame. My kids loved school and there was no need to choose a college. We didn’t even look!

My daughter is currently very nervous about her A Level results. I hope she gets the grades she needs…

Why didn't you look ?

That's very short sighted

@RetinaRouge Best of luck A level results wise too

Not really. She knew what course and university she wanted to go to. Has been passionate about this subject since age 12. Loved her school, her friends and her teachers so didn’t move. Had a lovely prom recently and has been inter-railing with her best friends. No regrets!

Thanks. She needs stupidly high grades so may be disappointed.

Sounds like to me that she was abit to comfortable at school

That would have been a good time to move post GCSE to college.

Be one hell of a shock when she goes to University.
