Wouldn't most on here be alumna?

AChickenCalledKorma · 16/08/2012 10:33

PMSL - I love the fact that my Cambridge college addresses DH as alumnus and me as alumna. No-one else would either know or care!

1991 - Fitzwilliam - not saying subject because I was the only woman that did it and don't want to out myself.

cyanarasamba · 16/08/2012 10:33

1997 - Girton - English

I've forgotten about waiting for exam results. Not forgotten the sinking feeling of a dissertation being due though!

MooncupGoddess · 16/08/2012 10:33

Alumna for singular female Oxbridge graduates, alumnae for plural ones! Lots of them here.

stealthsquiggle · 16/08/2012 10:34

2008 Somerville Engineering

stealthsquiggle · 16/08/2012 10:34

(and with a 2 E's offer I wasn't actually all that nervous about A level results - I just wanted to do better than DB1 had)

LauraSmurf · 16/08/2012 10:35

2005 - Homerton - education

exexpat · 16/08/2012 10:38

1991 St John's Cambridge
Not going to say my course as I was the only person in the entire university doing that particular degree.

I remember getting my A-level results and still being unsure about whether to take the Cambridge place or go for London. Think I made the right decision eventually...

Now it's not so many years until DS will be going through all that stuff (just starting year 10).

Kizza2 · 16/08/2012 15:13

Thats amazing ladies....so great to see fellow oxbridge ppl on here, seems like years since I was there but was definatly the best choice I made. My back up was Liverpool and got rejected from London :(

ps- cyanarasamba - it was practicals for me, I always spent the night before making my way through ciggerates and red bull in a nervous panic.....thinking back, think thats how I spent most of my years at Uni

1998, Pembroke (Oxon), Physics.

I had a 2E offer too, those were the days!

Tiago · 16/08/2012 15:18

2004 Clare Law

flotilla · 16/08/2012 15:54

Am I alone in finding it easier to identify with year of matriculation than year of graduation?!

AChickenCalledKorma · 16/08/2012 15:54

I had an AABB offer (Scottish exams, did four) and actually got ABBB. It's quite weird to think that I almost certainly wouldn't have got a place today.

AChickenCalledKorma · 16/08/2012 15:55

flotilla - no you aren't - it took me a while to process "year of graduation". But I still have my 1988 matriculation photo in the hall! DH and I are both in it, so we feel entitled to keep it on view.

FreckledLeopard · 16/08/2012 15:57

Modern History, Wadham, 2005. Remember getting my A-level results as was 9 weeks pregnant at the time with DD, who came with me to Oxford and is now 11!

StellaNova · 16/08/2012 15:58

1997 Magdalene English - was one of only four so probably easy to identify me, if anyone cared.

Warwick was my backup choice, would have been Nottingham but they gave me the same offer as Cambridge, so no point.

stealthsquiggle · 16/08/2012 15:58

Oh - are other people quoting graduation years rather than matriculation?

I have also just realised that I subtracted 20 years from my age (wishful thinking) Blush

try again:

1988 Somerville Engineering

now I feel ancient...

stealthsquiggle · 16/08/2012 15:59

(matric, that is - graduation 1992)

ClaraDeLaNoche · 16/08/2012 16:00

Am an Oxbridge reject, will never forgive them. Wasn't 3 A's good enough, sob, I couldda been someone, might even have snogged David Cameron.

Sharpkat · 16/08/2012 16:00

2002 Modern languages Teddy Hall

lambbone · 16/08/2012 16:02

Cor - you're all so young!

St Hilda's, Oxford, 1985. PPE. Son's there now!

flotilla · 16/08/2012 16:03

FreckledLeopard that is amazing. Good for you! I have an Oxford lawyer friend who was in similar circumstances and said she found initially that very many colleges wouldn't take her, no family accomodation etc. How was it for you?

AChickenCalledKorma. Shamefully my matriculation photo is still under my old bed in my parents house!! So I should out myself...

Medicine graduated 1996 (will not put college- too many of us on here, but a very lovely one!)
Green College, Oxford, graduated 1999

How any people married someone from college?

flotilla · 16/08/2012 16:05

Rather how MANY people married someone from college!

Should say my lovely undergrad college was at Cambridge

exexpat · 16/08/2012 16:16

I married someone from my faculty, different college.

Went back to college for a reunion last year and there were two or three couples who'd been together since undergraduate days.
