And I married a Fitzwilliam Cambridge alumnus, which my old Classics tutor described as exogamy, or marrying out of the tribe.

sagelynodding · 16/08/2012 18:18

2005 Saint Anne's Oxford, I was the only one doing my subject, so I'd rather not say :)

sicutlilium · 16/08/2012 18:28

almapudden - waves back across the bridge and a couple of decades.

somewhereinessex · 16/08/2012 18:28

Peterhouse 1985 (matric). Offered 2 E's. First year of women in previously all male college.

PatriciaHolm · 16/08/2012 18:28

89-92, queens Oxford, PPE. I married someone from the other place too!

This is making me feel old! Surely I didn't graduate 20 YEARS ago???!!

sicutlilium · 16/08/2012 18:40

somewhereinessex - mine was the second year of women. I knew that my Philosophy tutor had voted against the admission of women, which was not particularly encouraging.

Brawhen · 16/08/2012 18:46

1999 St John's Cambridge, Engineering

somewhereinessex · 16/08/2012 18:49

sicutlilium - there were some very odd dons knocking about then and Peterhouse had a bit of a reputation for being just a tad right wing. Think it was described as "letting the scrubbers in" when we girls turned up...I had a fantastic 3 years.

PotteringAlong · 16/08/2012 18:54

Ooh somewhere are you going to the women's dinner in september?

If it's any consolation we were still seen as being a bit weird when I went in 1998. I also loved every minute of it!

somewhereinessex · 16/08/2012 19:10

Potteringalong - planning to. Haven't filled in the form yet! Thanks for reminding me. I went to the dinner they had in 2008 and it was great. 5 of my year turned up and I got to sit next to the admissions tutor (not sure if he would have been when you were there) for whom I'd always harboured disturbing thoughts. Result!
