Now I'm confused TwelveLegs. What year did you matriculate? I matriculated in '99 so if you matriculated in '98 that would make me the year below you. I had a gap year so same school year.

jenny60 · 16/08/2012 21:32

Oxford too but have to say 'The House'! Really?

TunipTheVegemal · 16/08/2012 21:33

St John's Oxford, Classics, matric 1990
Newnham Cambridge for my PhD, matric 1996.

My next-door neighbour from my first year at Oxford used to be on here too but I've namechanged since I found that out and don't know if she still posts.

hatesponge · 16/08/2012 21:34

Karlos no, I think he was after my time - 1993 was my graduation year, I matric'd in 1990.

goGBTeacher · 16/08/2012 21:35

What's wrong with the House??

Peevish · 16/08/2012 21:50

waves at other House people and has flashbacks to the Undercroft

diamanteasbigastheritz · 16/08/2012 21:53

Graduated 1995, St Edmund Hall, Oxford.

Floreat Aula!

jenny60 · 16/08/2012 21:55

You seriously need to ask?

lirael · 16/08/2012 22:07

Well I am second oldest on this thread I think. 1983, New College, English. Contemporary of the lovely Patrick Gale who very kindly lent me his Anglo- Saxon translations when I was stuck ( most of the time...)

motherinferior · 16/08/2012 22:10

You lucky thing Envy

thepowerofvoodoo · 16/08/2012 22:11

Grad 1999, ppe, Oxford.. I married a townie without a qualification to his name.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 16/08/2012 22:20

Don't worry Jenny, I never refer to it like that in real life! It's only beaches this is a thread for alumni who can revel in the wierdness of a bar called the Undie, a bull called Archmedies, and a pond called Mercury!
It's like another lifetime, and I find the silly names bring it all back because sadly the Internet cannot capture the smell of a JCR bop

TwelveLeggedWalk · 16/08/2012 22:21

Because not beaches!

goGBTeacher · 16/08/2012 22:26

Oh, is jenny just slagging off the name? That's fine. . I had a pair of tracky pants with 'House' written down the leg. Was always jealous of people with ones that said 'Jesus'.

How about you're feet sticking to the JCR floor then next morning? My DH was obsessed with that pinball machine in there and still says 'hat magic' when something good happens. Grin

smugmumofboys · 16/08/2012 22:26

Trinity (Oxford) 1987. Won't say which subject as there weren't many of us.

I met DH there. He was on the floor below me on the same staircase in our first year.

It seems like a lifetime ago.

stealthsquiggle · 16/08/2012 22:29

Greythorne - 92 graduation or matriculation? I was on the other side of that debate - I still have a "Somerville has enough balls - we don't need men" T shirt somewhere.

stealthsquiggle · 16/08/2012 22:33

Do student bars and clubs still have floors so sticky that you can't stand still or you will be stuck? And 'sweaty bops' in cellar bars with the sweat condensation dripping from the ceiling?

TwelveLeggedWalk · 16/08/2012 22:44

Yes to Jesus sportswear!

And hat magic, although I'm not sure I ever knew why people said it then! (pinball ignOranus!)

TwelveLeggedWalk · 16/08/2012 22:45

maybe Jenny was from Pembroke....

sicutlilium · 16/08/2012 22:45

lirael did you go to the Oblivion cocktail parties in New College cloisters, where the cocktails were mixed in milk churns?

TwelveLeggedWalk · 16/08/2012 22:49

Lireal love the Patrick gale memories.

I used to go to Tom Paulin lectures. They were usually full for the first one or two then emptied as people realised he paid no attention to syllabus, but I loved listening to him!

TwelveLeggedWalk · 16/08/2012 22:50

Oh sorry about spelling. Think Archimedes has tipped auto correct over the edge!

Lyftiduft · 16/08/2012 22:52

Geography, 2003 (Cantab- not saying college for outage potential)

A fair few of us then...

CointreauVersial · 16/08/2012 22:57

Just missed you, sicutlilium.

Magdalen 85-89 Chemistry

I'm afraid DH doesn't even have A levels, never mind a degree.....

RuthlessBaggage · 16/08/2012 22:57

Eep so many Billies! Normally nobody has heard of Fitzwilliam.

This is utterly outing, but Ho hum.

m2000, g2003, Fitz, Linguistics.

There were 14 linguisticists in the whole university that year, and the other Fitz one has testicles. So yeah, outed.

Married a Univ man... Met through CUCBC friends. Ah the memories.
