Thought it would be nice to start a support thread on here about the wait for our DC getting into secondary schools. Anyone else glad the tests are all over?

Just to update anyone who's interested, DH actually came home from work at a reasonable hour yesterday and we had a family 'conference' to discuss DD2's school.

We have decided to stick with our 2nd choice of Wallington as DD preferred it, so it would be very harsh of us to put her through the misery of getting to Kingston and back for the next 7 years, when she'd rather be at Wallington. So, in the end, it was a no-brainer.

So for anyone whose DD is on the waiting list at Tiffin, she won't go down the list because of us. Smile

Sorry - didn`t think to post the tip earlier as it was DP who had done the online application from his much more reliable computer (he works from home) and it was very late in his office that we were checking to see if the e-mail had arrived that we discovered the other way in.
I log on to MN from a very crappy laptop elsewhere in the house which takes forever to chug into gear.
We live a few miles outside Chichester and are hugely affected by the iniquities of the faith school system.
Glad you got your first choice.

What happened with Cory? Did I miss her post?

foxinsocks · 05/03/2011 17:16

Btw, I never got the letter! I'm hoping an online acceptance will do but I'll phone and check!

I'm here, fox, just busy doing little dances of joy and opening the bottles!!!! He got in!!!! Grin

HOORAY! I know what a huge pita and mission it would have been if you'd had to appeal (did you have to last time? I seem to remember you did!) and not been successful. That is such fantastic news. Congratulations!

GORGEOUSX - thanks for the information about the two Wallington/Nonsuch exams - very useful. To be honest, the decision whether to put DD1 forward for either is still in the balance, mainly because DS1 unexpectedly got into a very good school (in Dorking) and DD1 can follow him there next year under the sibling rule, if she wants to. We weren't expecting to have that luxury.

But I'll PM you if I want to know more!

starchilli · 06/03/2011 12:58

breadandbutter - she is in year 7 now.

curlymama - We aren't appealing as we live in an area without grammar schools (now) and the local high school is an outstanding school with excellent results; they go in year 8 round here.

GORGEOUSX · 06/03/2011 17:25

Cointreau No worries - I wish you luck with everything; DD informed me today that she threw all the books out with the mound of work she'd done!
So glad it's all over and can't say I blame her.Shock
