Help please, Buyer saying they received toilet paper not pram

Angelika321 · 25/01/2020 08:33

As above really. I sent a pram via courier sold for £300, but the buyer is telling me they received toilet paper.

Ebay are insisting I accept the return, (and then file an appeal) but I don't see why I should.

Do I have any recourse?

@Danni91 I'm so sorry that you had to go through that, such an awful situation.

I'm currently on the phone to Hermes who have confirmed the parcel was delivered and signed for. They also state that it wasn't relabeled because there would have been a note in the system to that effect.

Hope you get it sorted!

muddypuddles12 · 27/01/2020 13:55

So the buyer is definitely trying to do the dirty then! Keep us updated and hope you get it sorted

Ebay is hit and miss for everyone both sellers and buyers.
As a buyer I have had far more issues with sellers falsely advertising items and then having the annoyance of claiming money back it's a nightmare and it's put me off eBay.

I do feel sorry for you op and how awful it is to have someone scam you I could never do that to someone with a bit of luck it's Hermes that have screwed it up and it can be resolved for you

coconuttelegraph · 27/01/2020 14:23

Taking a photo of the unopened package makes is pretty suspect to start with and then stopping part way through opening it to take another one is also a bit odd.

Where they've gone wrong a bit is in sending you a picture of the label as it will clearly prove it's a different parcel.

Have you actually contacted the police? I would do and be sure to pass the crime number on to the buyer

123feraverto · 27/01/2020 14:45

eBay always side with the buyer
I sold a used iPhone with all brand new unused accessories and official apple case and 2 other cases

They wanted to return it because they were unsatisfied with the battery life

They sent it back without the official case and they'd taken the brand new cables and put very old and used ones - which were disgustingly filthy

I had to refund the buyer in full dispute them not sending everything back.
Ebay did nothing to help me so I lost out.

Angelika321 · 27/01/2020 15:13

Yikes, between Hermes and eBay I'm surprised anything gets where it's meant to go!

So a strange turn of events, Hermes have sent me an email confirming the tracking information and the signature. When I looked at the tracking number quoted, it's not mine, in fact it looks like it could be the number on the parcel containing tissues.

I asked about this and the agent went away and came back to say that when the parcel was reallocated as a light and large item it was given a new label and number. So it's entirely possible the new label was mistakenly put on the wrong parcel.

Hermes are now sweeping the warehouse to look for my parcel and will get back to me.

It looks we've been wrongly casting aspertions on the buyer Smile

Hopefully Hermes will now find your pram

AFirst · 27/01/2020 15:21

Ohh, that's is an exciting twist in things. I hope they find it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/01/2020 15:35

Hang on, I thought they said earlier that it hadn't been relabelled, "or there would have been a note in the system"?

Have you got any proof of what's being said now - in other words emails rather than just the spoken word? Because you might get Hermes to refund you as a seller more easily then ebay would, but only if it can be proved

mummmy2017 · 27/01/2020 15:38

Does that mean the buyer refunds you the toilet roll, to get a refund.

BumbleBeee69 · 27/01/2020 16:06

OMG the poor Buyer has been hung out to dry Shock Grin

Angelika321 · 27/01/2020 16:36

@coconuttelegraph It looks we've been wrongly casting aspertions on the buyer smile

Yes it does look that way! Luckily I followed the good advice on here and kept it very polite. I did say that I would be passing her details to the police to help investigate the theft, but never came out and said I believed she'd stolen it.

Sadly it's a common scenario for buyers to claim they didn't receive items so it's not unfair to jump to that conclusion.

The buyer was very quick to send me abusive messages saying she'd been scammed she also sent 2 irate voicemails, but again that's understandable.

Anyway I have replied back to Hermes on their email, repeating what I was told and have sent a picture of the pram and the parcel in case they do locate it.

Fingers crossed it turns up.

@Puzzledandpissedoff
Hang on, I thought they said earlier that it hadn't been relabelled, "or there would have been a note in the system"?

Yes that's what they said, but the tracking number on their message to me is a different number.

I actually paid extra for next day delivery and chose the light and large service. They sent it as a regular item and then had to change it to the light and large. This meant a 48 hour delay. So the item which should have arrived by Wednesday ended up being 2 days late and not even the item I sent!

In addition to this when I track the original number on my account, it comes up with "no tracking information available". And when I call them and enter the number to try to talk to someone the automatic system tells me it's not a valid number and throws me out. I had to use the number from another parcel to get through to a person and then explain the issue.

Lesson learnt, don't use Hermes!

Hermes are useless. I refuse to use them now. I hope you get this sorted - sounds like there is some poor person out there waiting for a whole load of loo roll!

JKScot4 · 27/01/2020 17:52

Hermes have a permanent feature on my local FB page for being disaster it’s, people post photos asking if anyone recognises a door, garden etc as a Hermes send them it claiming that’s where their parcel is!

Oblomov20 · 27/01/2020 17:55

What a nightmare. Bloody Hermes!

BumbleBeee69 · 27/01/2020 18:58

OP you're a darn patient person .. to have stuck with this investigation... I'd have lost my temper by now.. lol Grin

neddle · 28/01/2020 11:34

@Angelika321
Their label photo makes me think that they live in Dorset.
If it helps, I do too and could scout them out for evidence of a pram.

Mammajay · 28/01/2020 11:50

An interesting thread..I thought the buyer was the guilty party. So, someone is still waiting for a load of loo rolls.

Herringbone31 · 28/01/2020 15:45

I got scammed as a buyer on eBay. I brought some goods. Didn’t receive them. The man didn’t reply to any messages. Opened a case with eBay. I got refunded. The day I got refunded. The seller decides to send my parcel. He knew I got refunded. Even though he tracked it. I went away for 4 months on a work trip. Because I wasn’t home. It got tracked to some far away neighbour. He was proper nasty. Telling me all sorts. Harassed me everyday. I rang eBay and explained the situation. He tried to shut down my PayPal. Kept sending me the payment details. I kept saying I hadn’t received it. That he’d have to take it up with Royal Mail. I wasn’t there to get the item. Nor was I there to sort it. It hadn’t been delivered to me

Oh the abuse was awful. I was truly scared he was going to show up at my house. He kept saying he’d get the police involved. I kept saying please do! I’d be more than happy to explain what had happened

I rang eBay and got him blocked. I shut down everything. PayPal. eBay. The lot. Was horrific

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 28/01/2020 16:02

Can I just add that we order big packs of loo rolls from amazon and they are often in black or green bags and Hermes usually delivers them on behalf of Amazon.

BumbleBeee69 · 28/01/2020 18:50

If i was the Ebay Buyer.. I'd be keeping that Toilet roll Grin

PutYourLipsTogetherAndBlow · 28/01/2020 18:55

They’re lying. We had something similar With eBay with an expensive armoire we had couriered to a couple. They claimed it arrived damaged and tried to get their money back. We just refused and told them to take it up with the courier company as it was perfect when it left us and damage could only have been done in transit.
Nothing came of it in the end - eBay can’t make you pay the money back.

BumbleBeee69 · 29/01/2020 13:07

Any news OP.. hope they've found the Pram parcel.. Flowers
