Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

Leala20 · 28/06/2020 08:48

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

My doc was against sex during 2ww.
Also, I had a "scratch" on both occasions before transfer and again, I had BFPs. Coincidence or not?!
And with our transfers, my doc used a "glue" as a part of IVf process. Is it part of your package? A question to you all, I guess.

ksusha20 · 08/08/2020 20:22

its a part pf my package in this clinic. But in my previous clinic the doc advised against it as her personal opinion. That there is little scientific research done of impact of that glue on the baby and there are thoughts that it might eventually have to stick embryo which is not healthy. But that was one doc opinion.

Cleozeta · 09/08/2020 08:52

I was doing acupuncture when I was trying naturally a few years ago. I was perimenopausal and had heard it could help lower FSH and regulate hormones. The first few times I got a BFP within a few months of starting it. Both times miscarried. Then I was doing it for 8 or 9 months before next pregnancy which was the stillbirth, but I do credit a lot to it. I had no hint of a BFP for the year or so before trying it, and my periods were wacky and hormones all over the place. So it does something, but no idea what!

Our clinic uses the glue, but I've not heard too much about it.

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all good! This is my first post on here, I’m just getting ready for my 3 round of donor egg IVF (1st fresh was a BPF but resulted in miscarriage and next round was my only frozen embryo from the 1st round resulted in BFN). Just waiting on my cycle to start (hopefully this weekend). Keeping everything crossed!!!

Leala20 · 09/08/2020 20:30

Very interesting about acupuncture. I have never had it so wouldn’t even know where to search. Would you recommend any specific or any acupuncturist? I googled and Zita comes up a lot. Do you think it’s not too late to start now if I am to have transfer next month? I tried hypnotherapy earlier in the year to help me with positive framing.
@SB2005 welcome to the group! I am sorry about your previous experience and rooting for you this time. Is there anything that you have learnt through the experience that you didn’t know before ? I have had my first transfer but result was negative and hoping to be able to do another one in September. I am having a followup meeting this week and will ask for various tests I have been recommended here.

@SB2005 Welcome to the group :)
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. You would think that using a donor egg should eliminate this risk or decrease it to a minimum because the egg of a young donor is used.
Did they give you any explanation on what caused a miscarriage?
Wishing you the best of luck with this cycle, hopefully this one will bring you a healthy baby.

SB2005 · 10/08/2020 20:19

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies, I feel so comfortable coming on here and chatting with you all.

@Leala20, I’m sorry to hear about your BFN, it’s so heartbreaking and frustrating. Good question on what I have learned, I think this time I’m a bit more relaxed as I know what the next steps are, I’m not going into the unknown and I’m more comfortable with that. Although I’ve got a million other things going on as well so I could just be majorly distracted Grin Keeping everything crossed for your next cycle.

@ksusha20, thank you! I thought exactly that, I was convinced it would work first time and when it did it hit me even harder when we lost the baby. We did have a follow up consultation and they explained everything went well with the cycle but unfortunately it doesn’t always result in a live birth. They are hesitant to carry out any recurrent miscarriage tests until 3 miscarriages (I had a natural miscarriage before my donor round) They did however recommended a thyroid test which I did and came back clear so fingers crossed now is our time.

Xxx

Leala20 · 10/08/2020 21:04

Hi All, hope you are doing well with the heat as well!
@SB2005 thank you, I feel like the first cycle has grounded me more and I need to relax more now going forward and not underestimate stress as I always say it’s positive as I react to it well and talk myself into it whether work or life but here I think I may not realise how much it can affect. I wish you all the best and hope this time is yours truly positive.

I did some research on acupuncture and there’s a lady nearby who specialises with infertility related. She mentioned I could do two three before transfer and then one after.

@Cleozeta how did your scan go today?
@tikha did you have a blood test today?

OP posts:
ksusha20 · 10/08/2020 22:00

@SB2005 That actually upsets me on why this "magic number 3". It is one thing when you naturally conceived and had 2/3 miscarriage which cab be caused by abnormal embryo. But if you go through IVF, in most cases you know embryo was normal, why dont investigate the issue after 1 , at least 2nd time. Because it can be something more than just unluck here :(
Have you ever done hysteroscopy? Also you can check for genetic problems that may lead to blood clots. Have your clinic suggested any blood thinners ?
But i do hope that you will not need all this investigation as this one will be success :)

Russkispy · 11/08/2020 07:16

@SB2005 welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. And hopefully soon you'll have your rainbow baby!

@Cleozeta you ok ?

@tikha hope you got your beta results?!

@ksusha20 I sent you a PM Smile

tikha · 11/08/2020 07:17

@Sunbird24 welcome. Not long now till you start your cycle
@SB2005 welcome. Fingers crossed for this one.
@Leala20 i agree with you that one shoild be investigated for implantation issues before any transfer especially if we are having to move to donor eggs. We only have a few precious embryos. There is an implantation clinic in LWC.
@Cleozeta how was the scan?
@ksusha20 from the evidence i have read embryo glue actually could be harmful for hatching blasts but maybe ok for earlier stage blast but not sure it helps with anything.

My lines are getting darker.. i took my own blood test at home and posted to medicheck instead of trekking down to LWC so it will be a few more days before i know.

Russkispy · 11/08/2020 07:31

@tikha glad to hear about lines progression! And hopefully you'll get decent beta numbers! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Cleozeta · 11/08/2020 08:43

My scan is next Monday (around mid cycle) so heading up to Manchester on Sunday.
Doing OK, just trying to keep these patches sticking in this hot weather!

@tikha great that your line is progressing nicely! That's the first hurdle. Fingers crossed for you!

@SB2005 are you trying for your first? I do think if you have never carried full term you should be checked over after 1mc if doing IVF, it's an expensive process (not to mention stressful) to go through 3 times if it's something than can be solved earlier.
I've always thought 3 is a lot to have to go through before investigations, even without the IVF process.

Random question, do any of you know - does the oestrogen we take in the early part of the cycle stop ovulation?

ksusha20 · 11/08/2020 19:30

@tikha fingers crossed for you. This time is a charm :)
@Cleozeta. Not a fertility doctor of course (wish i were :) ) but from what i know yes, oestrogen we take should help your lining grow but keeping at bay follicles/ovulation.

Cleozeta · 11/08/2020 20:50

@ksusha20 thanks! I just hope mine has worked enough as in this hot weather its a nightmare to keep the patches stuck!
Can't wait for it to cool down....

tikha · 11/08/2020 21:06

@Cleozeta the oestrogen patches I think are called estrace but there are different types, the tablets are progynova. I actually ran out and left strips of oestrogen at home so took oestrofem instead which is exactly the same dosing and the chemical structure is the same

TMI but the cyclogest is hard to use in hot weather In 37 degrees, it had melted and was hard to use at work.. luckily i have a few spare.

So I am doing some night shifts next week but feeling really exhausted generally.. come home and go to sleep. Should I tell work so I only do 2 instead of 3. I really don't want to say anything as we all know things dont often end well and its private time for me.. At the same will now need to be risk assessed for COVID which will mean speaking to the manager at an early stage..

Leala20 · 12/08/2020 07:53

@tikha congratulations on the progressing lines. Lovely to have such news here! I was getting extremely tired but this was only due to progesterone once I stopped what a difference, in your case as you’re most importantly pregnant at this stage there’s additional reasons you may feel tired about. If you can change some shifts I would request it or swap with someone and just say you’re not feeling well. Most pregnant women at this stage don’t even know they are pregnant. I wouldn’t tell my work until 3 months but this is due to the nature of my work and would like to keep it private but if I was in work where i would be concerned about physical or mental impact I would need to review depending on the relationship you have with your manager. I haven’t heard LWC had implantation clinic . Thank you will ask about it in my appointment, now I have a list of Wiesbaden tests, feel prep for the appointment thanks to you all.
@Cleozeta transfer next week? Very soon indeed. I feel it has dropped today by a couple of degrees and expecting some rain today. Yesterday I was in no aircon no windows room for most of the day and must have drank 5 litres and would be really i was pregnant so I have things to think about for the future and how to work out my work.
@Cafeambllet how are you keeping? Have you done any tests yet?

Not sure how a German sounding town Wiesbaden appeared there must be typing on my phone and not checking carefully.

So my beta from 12dp5dt came back as 104..which i feel is low. I guess i only just starting getting faint visible lines from 8dp5dt. Anyway waiting to hear back from lwc about repeating hcg. Its all very nerve wracking

Leala20 · 12/08/2020 19:17

@tikha well done! That’s amazing news. Don’t worry step at a time and this is step forward so we hope all goes well. This may have been a ‘late’ embryo not that I am a specialist but have heard that this happens snd thus may be a delay in the levels but as long as they double it should be fine. Sending hugs

Cafeambllet · 12/08/2020 22:03

Hi ladies. Sorry for disappearing and not answering! I’m on holiday and I am being quite successful at disconnecting and not thinking about treatment.

@Leala20 I had my blood drawn last week and I’m waiting for the results. Have you spoken to your doctor yet?
@tikha I have everything crossed for you!

Cafeambllet · 12/08/2020 22:13

@sharpster1 I’m sorry to hear about your BFN. I know how disappointing it is as I was in the same place a couple of weeks ago. My treatment also coincided with a very stressful time at work and I am also thinking about how I can make it more bearable next time.

Russkispy · 14/08/2020 06:20

Had my growth scan yesterday at 27w5d and everything is well. Baby has grown nicely, around 1.29kg now. Did loads of yoga poses 😚 my DH wasn’t allowed in due to COVID restrictions and I asked the sonographer to print me a couple of images. And the baby happily obliged 🙃

Onto the next growth scan at 32 weeks 😚

We also had a private 3D scan at 26 weeks and it was a treat for my DH. Baby wasn’t cooperating then but after eating, drinking cold drinks and short walk, baby was as good as gold. We got really nice images 😚

Can’t believe I’m hitting 3rd trimester tomorrow 😱

How's everyone doing/feeling? Thank god the heat is over!

@tikha when is your next beta?

@Cafeambllet @Leala20 @Cleozeta @ksusha20 @sharpster1 how are you all?

Cleozeta · 14/08/2020 08:01

@Russkispy congrats on your scan, that's great news. That is around the same time that we had the first signs things were not right in our last pregnancy. I'm glad that you have passed that point successfully.
I know I am going to be terrified in any future pregnancy of things going wrong, especially up to that point. First hurdle though - getting there!

Hope everyone is well
