Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

Leala20 · 28/06/2020 08:48

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

Thanks for the info. @Russkispy I’ll ask my doctor about prolactin. I’m pretty sure I haven’t had that tested yet. It would be good if they could find reason that a good embryo didn’t implant and adapt the treatment for next time.

ksusha20 · 06/08/2020 21:18

So we decided to take a leap of faith and go with the donor who matches only a couple of requirements from our list.
We just cant wait for another better match which might never come.
Now we are thinking should we test embryos (once we have ones) or not. Doctor suggests not to do that because of the young age of the donor. But we would rather be sure.

Russkispy · 07/08/2020 06:47

No worries @Cafeambllet @Leala20 when I had all my MCs last year, I made an extensive research as to why it was happening. And when my first DE FET transfer was positive and 4 days later ended in CP, I wanted to get all tests under the sun done! And also, very important, is how to support embryo implantation after transfer! I wanted to change the usual protocol. And instead of oral progesterone I asked my doc for infra muscular injections. I was injection till 12-14 weeks. And still taking progesterone capsules vaginally to prevent pre term birth and spontaneous bleeding. I'll have a look at my notes and see what other blood tests I did prior my 2nd abs successful DE FET

Russkispy · 07/08/2020 06:52

@ksusha20 , the way I read your name as Ксюша. I might be wrong?! I'm Russian and linguist, I spot these things easily but then again I might be wrong.
Anyway, our donor was 29 at the time of egg collection. And we ended up with 12 top grade 5ABs embryos. But still PGS 2 embryos as didn't want anything go wrong! I PGS my own eggs last year and had a trisomy 13 which is not life compatible outcome. All clinics do different things and I trusted my doc and here I am. 27 weeks pregnant.

Leala20 · 07/08/2020 07:34

@ksusha20 congratulations on making the decision as this is a huge step and how exciting now and it feels so close!
@Russkispy thank you for sharing this. 12 top grade embryos - I have never heard about it but sounds extraordinary! Really great to see a happy outcome in the making and indeed combination of self belief and belief in the doctor sounds like good advice. Which clinic did you use?

@russkispy thank you for sharing the names of tests. I will come better prepared for my next weeks meeting

@ksusha20 great that you have made the decision! I guess you will be able to start soon now then?

@Russkispy interesting to hear what happened for you. Its sounds like you have done all the right things to get as far as you have! We do not know the age of our donor interestingly, we just know that she is under 35 and has a healthy child of her own.

Russkispy · 07/08/2020 17:24

@Cleozeta yes, I've got a few characteristics of our donor. Including that she was in this programme before and produce a similar number of eggs, 15. And it was for a lady of my age and DE transfer worked from the first time.

@Leala20 all my fertility treatments were done back home, in Riga, @IVF Riga clinic .

sharpster1 · 07/08/2020 20:11

Hi ladies, just got my beta result - negative. Still have a couple of hours of work left, but I think I'm going to pack it in. Back on the hamster wheel on Monday, trying to make an appointment to see my dr soon and talk next steps.

tikha · 07/08/2020 22:15

@sharpster1 sorry to hear about the beta bfn.. its tough place to be but its take a lot of strength for us to keep going..
@ksusha20 congratulations for choosing a donor.. its hard work and its caused us to do a lot of soul searching before we chose ours but it was an important step.
@Leala20 how is it going? did LWC catch up with you?
@Russkispy amazing to hear about your cycle experience..12 blasts are indeed a rare thing. i was pretty happy with our result as we had 7 blasts but i have to say am already so tired from doing just one ET not sure I can face this again going forward. PGS testing might be the way forward. do you know the risk of getting a false result for example they say its abnormal but its really isnt.. thats what worries about doing a PGT-A. Also the prolactin sounds like a good idea. Is it worth doing while you have an active transfer?
@Cleozeta how are your scans?
@Cafeambllet apart from thrombophilia are you getting any other tests done?
Sorry for not checking in sooner.. work left me tired.. just the theme of the day. work in health care so wiped out by end of day.. @Leala20 this is indeed a new work.. I wanted to stay closer to my partner i.e. less of a commute so applied to move.. in hindsight lot going on at the same time.

As for me, I did a PM frer at 7dp5dt got a squint followed by a faint but clear BFP on 8dp5dt and similar colour or maybe even lighter today at 9dp.. To be honest not getting excited as the exact same thing happened to me earlier with faint lines and I had a chemical. Dont want to get too wound up about the whole thing as i have 6 more chances theoretically with this round of DE IVF. Will keep you posted.. my actual beta i think is on Monday..

Its so hot today.. we bought a portable aircon this summer and have to say its best piece of investment we ever made.

ksusha20 · 07/08/2020 22:15

@ sharpster1 Very sorry to hear that. Decision to go with ED is already difficult on its own. And not having positive outcome you deserve is just unfair.
Hope you have more embryos left and next time will be your time.

ksusha20 · 07/08/2020 22:23

@ tikha I try not to think if we made the right choice. We just went with the only option available. We didn’t wanted to wait for a possible better match which could take a few more months.
Having nurse appointment on Aug 19th to discuss the details. But don’t think will be able to start this cycle. We are going away for 10 days, just right after my AF expected start. So hopefully will begin treatment at the end of September.

ksusha20 · 07/08/2020 22:27

@Russkispy yes you are correct , my name is Oksana a/k/a Ксюша. I’m from Ukraine :)

ksusha20 · 07/08/2020 22:35

@ tikha fingers crossed for you. Agree better not to expect anything and be pleasantly surprised:) My doctor told me today and I quote “ I WILL NEVER SAY IT DOES NOT WORK UNTIL YOU TRANSFER TWO OR THREE EMBRYOS (DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES).” when I asked what are the main reasons ED transfer is not success at first try.
Not sure if that is correct approach Hmm

Cleozeta · 08/08/2020 09:07

@sharpster1 sorry you got BFN
Stats on here are generally not looking good for first transfer. I have no expectations for mine, which is grounding. Sometimes it's easy to get carried away with hope and then have it all come crashing down.

@tikha not had any scans yet. First one will be next Monday, before (hopefully) transfer. I am travelling across county, so will just stay for the week between scan and transfer. Good excuse for a mini holiday.

Fingers crossed for you that this BFP sticks!

@ksusha20 September will be here before you know it! It will be exciting to have plans in place Smile

Leala20 · 08/08/2020 11:44

@sharpster1 I am sorry about your bfn, I was there last week at this time. Hope you treat yourself well and look up to the future even ready.
@Cleozeta cannot believe how fast this has flown, enjoy the week up in Manchester and all the best.
@ksusha20 it will fly by. Now it’s a countdown.
@tikha congrats on bfp and good luck on Monday. The milestone of implantation must have gone well so one step forward!
I have a phone appointment end of the week as they only do procedures in person so will update.
@ how are you keeping?
Have a lovely weekend ladies

@Cafeambllet how are you keeping?

OP posts:
Russkispy · 08/08/2020 16:14

@sharpster1 sorry about BFN. Have you got plan B

@tikha tentative congratulations! And fingers crossed for mOnday!

@Cafeambllet how are you?!

Russkispy · 08/08/2020 16:17

@Leala20 checked my own fertility "journal" and could also see lupus test. I think you need to ask your doc about all blood tests possible before 2nd transfer. And importantly how to support embryo after transfer. What meds will you be giving after etc

Sunbird24 · 08/08/2020 16:25

Hi all! Starting my suppression injections on 5 Sep for my first ivf cycle, already got my donor sperm on ice at the clinic!

sharpster1 · 08/08/2020 17:33

@tikha Sending you positive thoughts for your beta; I hope that you get the BFP !
@ksusha20 congratulations on making the donor decision. We started out looking for someone that would be a good physical match with me, but in the end our donor is nothing like me - I was shown a profile and photographs of each one, and stupid as it sounds, I felt more of a connection to her than to the women that actually look more like me. Thank you for your kind message. I have 2 embryos left from ED; after losing one embryo in the defrosting process on this round, I am nervous about thinking of it as 2 more shots, so let's say one more go.

@Cleozeta good luck for your transfer!

@Leala20 thank you. I said to my husband last night that it's so weird grieving and not being able to tell people around you about your grief...and going through the same grief time and time again. I'm thinking that if I do this again I may see if there's any way to get away from my stressful job for a few weeks. I don't have any leave left this year, but it feels like to give it a fair shot I need to reduce my stress levels.
@Russkispy Plan B is doing everything possible for another go - seeing whether there's anything else they can test for, and reducing stress as much as possible. It has been a tough few months.
@Sunbird24. Welcome and best of luck!

Russkispy · 08/08/2020 19:07

@sharpster1 sorry it's been stressful months for you. Have you considered reflexology? Or acupuncture? I had both prior my treatments, on the day and after. Especially acupuncture.
I also had McDonald's fries straight after transfer! After my both transfers and had BFPs. Coincidence or not?!! It's something to do with salt in those fries. It might be old wives' tales. And again I wanted to give my absolutely everything!

ksusha20 · 08/08/2020 19:40

i dont know if this was coincidence as well but when i took acupuncture before and after transfer it was BFP.
Did not hear anything about salt.
What everyone's opinion whether it is alright to have s..x during 2WW? Clinics are saying no problem, but i have been reading that some are suggesting not too.

sharpster1 · 08/08/2020 19:52

@ksusha20 my clinic advises against sex and masturbation due to the uterine contractions if it’s a good one!

@Russkispy I tried accupuncture for the round with my own eggs, but it wasn’t for me. A friend has mentioned internal osteopathy being good for any internal scarring which can prevent implantation so I will look into that too. Also going to check no ovarian cysts are back and that my thyroid (which was triggered by the stimulation rounds I did a few years back) is behaving.

ksusha20 · 08/08/2020 19:59

interesting...because again whether coincidence or not but the only time I got BFP is when i sustained from it.
